Hi, I have a question about medicine. My husband is 50%, so he gets his meds from the VA, however, his diabetes does not seem to be getting under control with Metformin. Will the VA pay for a different diabetes medicine outside the VA if they do not carry it there? Thanks, sbrewer

Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program
I was just wondering if anyone has went through the Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program at the VA, in Tampa, Florida, as I was thinking about having my VA Doctor give me a referral, but if it is a waste of time, don't want to bother with it, a friend of mine also a Vietnam Veteran, is going down there the end of January, but I would like to know beforehand, as it takes a few months to get it the program, as they have a waiting list. It is a 19 day program, I have read.

hypertension C&p Exams
When my brother retired in May 2006, he filed a claim for disability for his hand/joints and hypertension. During his C&P examination, the examiner said he did not need the medication for hypertension. He received a rating of 10 percent for his hand/joint. I am concerned because I will be retiring later next year and take medication for my heart (angio plasti/stent) and hypertension. My cardiologist stated I will always need the medication. My question is, can an examiner state I no longer need to take my medication duirng/after the examination? Is this normal behavior for an examiner?

Testimony About Varo Bad Faith
Dear Fellow Veterans & Friends this is testimony taken from James R Fischl the director american legion 2002. "Two weeks ago the American Legion quality review team visited St Petersburg RO. While there we were confronted with graphic evidence of premature and erroneous denials of claims. A general lack of compliance with the veteerans claims assistance act rules and other types of inapropreate actions. there were cases in which veterans recived letters there claims were being dismissed because there military records have been destroyed in the 1972 fire. The problem was that these veterans got out of service years after the fire took place At the St pet…

Difference Between Pyramiding, New And Old Conditions
Okay here goes. hope my inquiry makes some sense, feeling anxious sometimes keeps me from trying. Depression claim is in, recently denied 'nexus", new clear diagnosis submitted and hoping for best, even before Christmas~!. Submitted SC condition increase request due to increased VA (varicous veins.) Now two "other" health conditions are troubling me; one previously denied with new IMO details and two other SC issues, lumbar and knee, . I want to be successful in getting treatment and compensation. Are these claims too many? IF i request increases on currently SC items, is that pyramiding? thanks, cg

hypertension White Matter Disease
Recent MRI shows that I now have multiple lesions termed as "White matter disease" consistant with a person suffering from hypertension, and DMII. I am SC'ed for both hypertension and DMII. Is the WMD ratable and if so under what disability code? MY civilian Neuro says that based upon my symptoms, unsteady balance, short term memory loss etc..... I probably suffer from mild dementia. I thought that dementia was something you got from a psychiatric type problem and not brain injury type problems. Wife says that I have become a different person since my stroke. She says I have constant mood swings and have become real mean. I don't see it that way. Maybe she is tryi…

tdiu Inferred Claim Of Tdiu
If an inferred claim of TDIU is raised in a claim and the TDIU is not addressed by the VA is this CUE? What I am reading in the VBM 5.4.9 page 325 is that if a claim includes facts that indicate that the vet is unemployable, the VA is obligated to consider and adjudicate a TDIU claim. Also, in 5.7.2 of the VBM it states the VA must also adjudicate those issues which are reasonably raised in all documents or oral testimoney submitted prior to a final agency decision. In CUE claims the VA must give a sympathtic reading to the veteran's filing in the earlier proceeding to determine the scope of the claims. In my claim my doctor said I was unable to work and frequently …

tinnitus Helping An Old Vet.
I`m trying to help an old vet and am wondering if I am wasting his and my time. He is 70 and was on a flight deck for 2 years and a Naval airport for 2. He lived on the flight deck and runways working on helicopters during the Korean War. He says he visited the sick bay when in the Navy complaining of hearing loss. He says he has ringing in the ears for many years. Honestly, he can`t hear shit. Sorry about the language, but I do get impatient with his hearing loss when working with him. He has lost about 90% of his hearing according to the many test he has taken. I filed hearing loss and tinnitus claims for him last summer. He has heard nothing yet. Should we proceed? …
