Insurance Question
Frank is having a problem with life insurance he paid for- SGLI? When I met Rod he was paying for SGLI -I think it was called and he had a little coupon book to send with the monthly payments-I think my daughter pays this too- and then after what was about 20 years after service he was sent information that he would have to convert to private insurer for life insurance and he did. He was only 30 % disabled at that time and the VA had no SC life insurance program. It seemed at the time this was normal SOP-and he expected that he would have to convert- Has anyone else gone through this? A friend of mine -20 years USAF- paid a similiar type policy every m…

ptsd Dav License Plate Question
I am helping a widow who claims her husband never received any VA comp. In his hunting cabin years ago I saw a DAV license plate and asked him if it was his- He said yes but he never would accept any VA comp.He said he 'gave them the money back'.? This is a difficult claim for my vet rep and I am trying to help the widow support potential DIC- it will be difficult- Vietnam vet-suicide- she claims he had no VA disabilty rating, no PTSD , so never got any help- but then she indicated to me that maybe he did see a private shrink-she just could not remember---she has not found his DD 214 yet. It is possible he did not share much of Nam with her at all---he told me h…

Pn How Is It Scheduled?
As you know my VV husband was dx with DMII. He has multiple secondary problems, one of which is PN. He has fallen, 3 times during the past 2 months, due I believe to PN primarily drop foot on the left. Also, he has sharp stabbing pains in both hands. Unfortunately, he self medicates for pain w/ IBP and Advil. Way to many pills per day. But we are dealing with things one step at a time. This is one of the next things on the list. My question is: How does VA rate PN. All limbs? Each Limb? Upper body (hands)? Feet? Is everything seperate or is it combined once they make their rating determination? As usual, you all are great and thanks in advance. Jangrin

Trochanteric Bursitis
Had to see my HMO doc for my left hip again. This time I was between 2 days I took off because it was so painful to walk. I have wondered if the pain in my hips, knees, back are related to my 2 SC 10% ratings on my left knee and almost 30 years of compensating. Left knee injury from jeep rollover/degenerative arthritis Last time the HMO doc examined the hip, he wiggled the leg for about 8 seconds. When I mentioned later about my knee, he said that he didn't detect any arthritis! Reckon he's better than the C & P Doc with his thorough exam and x-rays? Sooo, we know who wouldn't be any help if there was a claim to be made... Anyone familiar with this …

How To Get Me To Read Your Post
I skim the topics and read what I feel is something that I am interested in reading, or something I think that I can help another veteran understand. If you want somebody like me to read your post it may be to your advantage to specify what your topic is other than "I need help"!! My time is valuable and I type slow due to my disabilities. I can read fast and understand easily, but I often just move past some topics if I don't know the subject matter. The person doing the post can help not only me, but other potential readers by being more to the point in the "Topic" and/ or "Topic Description". Just my thoughts.
