ptsd C&p Exam Gone Bad
Hello All, This is my first post. I was in the Army from 1991 to 1996 during which, my best friend died. I didn't actually witness the event but I was in his unit and I escorted his body home. He was in a boating accident and was missing for 6 months. I have over the last 6-7 years started have symptoms of PTSD. I would probably attribute this War as bringing back all these memories. Anyway, I had my C&P exam today and to say the least it went horrible. He didn't seem to ask to many questions about my symtoms and I have trouble expressing myself. I haven't seen any professional help but I am going to get in touch with the VET center in my area. I think I probably won'…

ptsd Additional Resources For Ptsd Assistance/suicide Prevention
Sorry, sorry to just barge in, but I wondered if these additional suicide prevention/PTSD assistance resources might be useful? We lost our son, Sgt. Coleman S. Bean, to suicide in 2008. Since that time, we have spent many hours with those who served with Coleman and we've become convinced that there are soldiers and vets who, for their own reasons, may not seek mental health assistance from the uniformed services or the VA. The National Veterans Foundation runs a hotline -- 1.888.777.4443. Vets trained in crisis intervention work the phones. Both GiveAnHour (www.giveanhour.org) and The Soldier's Project (www.thesoldiersproject.org) provide counseling on a free-…

ptsd Taking Away Service Connection ?
Can the VA take away service connection altogether , if they feel you have gotten better. Example You get rated 30 % for PTSD, 2 years down the line they say your doing much better. No more disability for you. I guess what i'm asking is would it go to 0% because possibly it could flair up again or would they say you are no longer service connected period.Maybe i'm being paranoid , but being a newbee you hear all the horror stories.I would just hate to have to go thru the whole process again. Thanks SGT SANDMAN

Do psychiatrists and social workers typically write up GAF scores in their reports? I know psychologists do, usually.

ptsd Ptsd Question
I am trying to get a rating for PTSD from experiences in the Gulf War (Desert Storm)..I recently had my mental health consult at my local VA clinic..I saw the Social Worker who at the conclusion of outr meeting said that I DO have the signs and symptoms of PTSD..My primary care physician had previously noted this in her notes........I spent several years living in Europe, and while there I self medicated with marijuana...Killed the pain, let me sleep, and worked better than antidepressants, etc..Since returning to the States not very much......The social worker (who just so happens to be the drug and alcohol counselor) said she wanted me to attend Dependency group meetin…

ptsd 30% Ptsd
I have 30% on PTSD. The VA also gave me a CPAP machine for my Sleep Apnea but is trying to tell me my Sleep Apnea is not service related. How do I get this changed? Do I need to get an IMO or what do I do? I talked to someone else who does not even have PTSD and he has 50% for Sleep Apnea and 30% for razor bumps? You have got to be kidding me! So he has 80% and no combat and I have PTSD and supposedly a non service connected Sleep Apnea and only 30% total disability. I need to know if I need a VA lawyer or what. I am in San Antonio, TX. Thanks in advance. Mooshi

ptsd Ptsd
I have heard that if benefit percentages are reduced, they can not take the benefit while under appeal, and also have heard that the benefit will be taken after 60 days. Can anyone verify either of these statements? Thanks very much.
