ptsd Interesting Ptsd Reading
Found this on the net, although 2007 makes for interesting reading. I like the suggestion that a veteran seeking compensation actually isnt always a bad thing. http://ncptsd.kattare.com/ncmain/nc_archiv..._qtly/V18N4.pdf

Gaf Score 55
Maybe someone can clear domething up for me that even an old country boy can understand. I received a GAF score of 55 and was given 30%. I keep reading on Hadit that if you are working you will get less!! Whats the difference? If you got a GAF score of 55, should you not get the same rating whether one is working or not? It is still 55. I was wondering if the VA gives different ratings for Veterans who have lost a leg that works vs a Veteran who does not work. I understand that there are a lot of variables, but it does not seem fair. Papa

ptsd Got A Rating Today
I've been lurking and reading here for six months, and got a rating today. Thought a report might help some worry... I filed a claim for ptsd and ao conditions on March 30 through the Houston VA, using a local (East Texas) veterans assistance officer to help with the application. I received a claim packet with request for information in early June, which I returned with a four page typed letter detailing my problems. My stressor is presumed due to CIB and others; but I had long service history and my Army medical records were retrieved by VA and were reviewed. I had a CP exam in July with a contract psych in Houston. Received a rating decision today, September 21,…

ptsd Urgent Help Needed! Ptsd & Bipolar Claim
Hello fellow Veterans, I'm in a bit of a crunch here and in need of some advice. I'm rated 50% for PTSD and 10% for my back. I live in Germany and am dealing with the VA Pittsburgh. My BVA certification is dated March 2008. The appeal was for an increase denial of PTSD. Reason for the appeal was that they thought I was employed full-time and taking online college courses at the time of examination. This was not true. I had lost my job a few months prior and quit my courses around the same time. Also, they stated that the examination took place in Sept 2007 and it realls took place July 2007. After recieving the SOC, I wrote a letter to them (with evidence) correting t…

hypertension Got My C File Today!
Hi gang, Finally got my "C" file today. I'm currently rated as 70% PTSD and (90%) overall. I would appreciate your thoughts on where I go from here relative to filing for IU or trying to get to 100% PTSD. I understand the words written below, but not sure I understand the meaning of the words written by the examiner. Here are the comments made from my C&P exam for PTSD. "on the Beck Depression Inventory, this veteran endorsed a number of symptoms yielding a score of 35, which indicates an extremely severe level of depression. He was also tested with the MMPI and the results were judged to be valid. Profile elevations are consistent with a diagnosis of PT…

ptsd 30% Ptsd Rating
Just received a 30% rating for PTSD with Depressive disorder not otherwise specified. Based on the following, do you think I should file for an increase to 50%? Was my rating low balled because I did not claim depression in the beginning? Or was the depression considered along with the mental health rating all together? From C&P exam by doc Diagnoses : Axis I: 1. PTSD 2. Depressive disorder, not otherwise specified. Axis II: No diagnosis Axis III: See med history section Axis IV: 1. Unemployment. 2. lack of social network Axis V: Current 55 GAF Summary: Veteran currently meets the DSM IV diagnostic criteria for PTSD. Symptomatology currently appe…

ptsd Earlier Effective Date For Ptsd, Thoughts?
On my first claim years ago I requested for many things, and ptsd, the diagnosis was in my SMRs. I didn't word it well on the claim so it was 'ignored' I didn't work the claim like needed. Many years later, my counselor led me to believe I had ptsd, I specifically applied for sc but got turned down.. "A diagnosis of PTSD is stated inprovisional diagnosis of rule out ptsd on the basis of your subjective reports of traumatic experience upon ptsd screen."(denial) no VA exam, diagnosis or private diagnosis. Didn't appeal. Now VA has clearly diagnosed me with PTSD, in for sc now. I am thinking earlier effective date, but need the correct approach, anyone? Thank you~! …
