Request Info On Ihd.
Back in 2006, I had a stress test done at my Cardiologist office. I was unable to do the treadmill, so he had to do the chemical type of test. He even had a hard time doing it that way. My MET score was 1. He put me on the following medications: Losartan 25MG, Pravastatin 80MG and LD Aspiran. I have never had a heart attack, nor surgery for my heart. Based upon the information that I got from a friend that is a VSO for the DAV, the VA looks at METS for IHD. I do not know what my Ejection Rate is. Should I put in a claim for IHD if for nothing more then to save my effective date? Papa

Large Nehmer Retro For Vet
http://www.oakridger.com/newsnow/x248719714/Oak-Ridge-vet-finally-gets-389-475 Although the Nehmer claims under the new AO 2010 regs are pealing down, nice to read this award this AM. I still wonder how many vets and widows should have gotten onto the RO Nehmer lists but didnt, and by now might still not know of these new presumptives.

Nod For Eed For Dmii Denied
I just received notification that my NOD for an EED for DMII was denied. The main reason was that after I was initially denied for DMII, I did not appeal within 1 year. I missed the deadline by a month and a half (does not matter). I then ask them to re-open the claim, and they did and granted me 20%, but made the effective date the date the claim was re-opened 8-28-08. In their denial they are saying that my earliest Dx was May 2006. I honestly thought that when I first put in a claim for DMII, they would test me. Wrong. I'm more upset with myself, but it really gets me that they take over 2 years for something like this. To tell me that I missed a deadline. Yes…

Nehmer Decision
Happy Monday!! Well, I haven't been on in awhile....crazy at work lately! I did receive my envelope from VA on my dad's Nehmer claim. Everything was denied. Stated when he filed for Ischemic Heart Disease he was given a diagnosis of CHF...not IHD. So....whether he had reason for diagnosis of IHD or not I'm not sure. Have re-requested medical records so hopefully when those come in I can see what I'm dealing with. Thanks for all the help, will post more when I get medical records and know better what I'm dealing with! Leah

tdiu Va Claims They Do Not Have My Nod Even Though They Signed For The Envelope It Was Sent In
This is going to be a long explanation. I was granted a 30% rating for IHD that went back for only 2 months, and a 10% that went back to 03/05/2005. During that 10% rating I spent time on a Heart Pump in a VA Hospital in intensive Care. They gave me 3 METs at my first C&P but came back later and raised it to 7-8 METs. My VA heart doctors disagreed with the 7-8 METs and mailed me a VA Form for IHD with their diagnosis of 3 METs. I sent this along with other evidence to the VA through USPS and sent it requiring a signature. I clearly stated that I was in Disagreement and that I informing them that this was my "Notice of Disagreement" (NOD). I also ask several tim…

Vets Win Payouts Over Agent Orange Use On Okinawa
You may have already seen the Japan Times article of 2/14/12 titled: "Vets win payouts over Agent Orange on Okinawa" which gives the details on two comp claims awarded by the BVA based on exposure to Agent Orange while assigned on Okinawa. To my knowledge, these two awards are the first since the January 1998 BVA award to a former U.S. Marine exposed to Agent Orange while serving on Okinawa. Link to Japan Times article: http://www.japantimes.co.jp/text/fl20120214zg.html I was able to find the September 2008 BVA award which is Citation 0831082 dated 09/12/08, but was unable to find the July 2010 award cited in the Japan Times article. I will search for it later. I f…

Agent Orange
I need some expert advice, and what I read here, there are some very close of being an expert. ANYWAY, I was at my VFW meeting this past Wed night and got into a converstaion with another vet about AO. He asked if I put in for AO and I said no that as for as I can tell I have none of the dieseas assoicated from AO. He told me to put in anyway since I was in Viet Nan in 69-70 in what is called the iron triangle, boho woods and the rubber plantation (25th INF, 38th scout dog plt). I was thinking I would have have a diease from the so call list before I could put in. So from all the experts on here what is the suggestion. Sould I or not. Thanks

Mets (Not The Baseball Team)
I keep reading posts that mention the word "METS". I see Veterans that have a score of 3, some 4 and some 5. Is it worse if one has the higher number, or worse if one has a lower score? Just trying to educate myself. Papa

Parkinson's - Medication Not Helping
Just got back from my Nuerologist, and after he did his evaluation, he decided to take me off one of my medications. He then told me that he will re-evaluate me again in April, and decide whether to remove me from all my Parkinson medication. He said they are at the highest dosage, and are not helping. I'm currently rated at 30%, but I do have an appeal for an increase. Sometimes life just pisses me off. But, I always pray for all my Veteran family as I know that I'm luckier then most. Papa

Catch 62
Seeking advise and any info I can get with this matter. I am at my wits end trying to restore my retirement. Seems that PL97-253 aka Catch62 Law because it kicks in at age 62 allows the Office of Personnel managment to reduce a veterans pay by the number of yrs of service unless he/she pays an amount of monies as determined by congress in to the SS pension fund for the yrs he/she servved their country and they retired from civil service under CSRS (Civil Service Retirement System). I fell victum to this enforcment action in 2008 when I turned 62. I appealed my case to the MSPB and won. They (a Federal Judge) told OPM to make me another offer on the enforcement action....T…
