See what I mean? It's so difficult for others to get it. No disrespect intended to Carlie as she 's simply trying to help.
But many suffering with PTSD just don't feel much like visiting others, going to malls, the zoo, or much of anything for that matter.
At the risk of other's taking my opinion the wrong way (happens often so @&$ it!), I'm gonna press "post" anyway.

I actually filed my SSDI clam in April 2012 but I hadn't worked since September 26, 2009. I filed once before in January 2010 but, I didn't provide the medical evidence because I didn't want to believe that I could no longer work at the age of 38!! I was denied the first time so I got a lawyer for the reconsideration and was denied once again!! My hearing was August 7, 2013, I called the 800 number and was told that my case had moved really fast from hearing to decision to payment processing! My retropayment was deposited in my checking account on September 6, 2013!! and they paid me from a year before my filing date April 2011. They judge found me disable since October 2009. I didn't have to wait the 5 months to get my first payment because I was disable since 10/09. If the judge found you disable November 2013, you would have to wait until after March 2014(5months) to be eligible for April 2014 and you would receive your payment for April in May. You will receive your payment on a Wednesday, which Wednesday depends on your birthday. The 1st thru the 10th is the 2nd week of the month. The 11th thru the 20th is he 3rd week of the month, and the 21st thru the 31st is the 4th Wednesday of the month. I don't understand why if you filed in September they didn't fine you disabled until November unless you or whoever told you meant 2012 instead of 2013, or unless your last day of work wasy October 31, 2013???...

Congrats to you !! I'm 100& P&T as of last December, and just won my SSDI case last week. Was a 6 year battle, and finally won. Damn right NEVER give up ! Keep fighting brothers and sisters, keep fighting !

Don't know where to start, except by Thanking Hoppy,Deanbrt,Jbasser,and Berta.

I will go backwards in what has happened so far. I checked E benefits this morning to find my claim had closed. So I checked the letter generator, and sure enough, it looked different with commissary and deers stuff. So i checked summary of benefits and I was unemployability, although I am 80%. I filed unemployability last September. I was granted SS Disability last November. I was medically retired from my State job in December. Also, I was brought back in the military because of error in discharge on the military side. I was released back in 06 from the army due to ptsd. So fast forward to May 13, I was put back in to complete an MEB/PEB. Because of the time (06) the military used the Legacy system instead of IDES to medically discharge people. I fell in that category. Monday I was notified from Ft. Bliss that the Army was offering me a 50% retirement tax free because of combat incurred and related. So, all said I was granted everything from the ABCMR to Army retirement backdated to 2006 to SS to VA unemployability to state Retirement.


Thank you from a confused, pissed off soldier that listened and read…."Do not give up"…and I didn't, and with the help from this Forum board and advice from the moderators/elders I prevailed. Thank you to everyone who commented on my silly rants and questions…Thank you everyone.

Congrats bud I feel for you man. I just got approved a few weeks ago for SSDI, and mine was complete in less than 3 months, and I live in Texas where it is one the hardest states to get approve initially. I wont even get paid til May. Just glad to see our claims, and stress is over. God bless bud

I live in California, and it took me about 2 weeks to get my backpay, and another 2 weeks to get my regular check. Since my last name starts with A, my check comes in on the 3 wednesday of each month.

It looks like the 'Buddie Statements' carried most of the weight. They went so far as to mention the names of the folks who wrote on my behalf. That and the proof of Combat in the form of After Action Reports and newspaper articles did the trick.

I could not have done this on my own..thanks to everyone here for having my back. You can aleays count on a fellow soldier when you need someone.

Sounds positive to me..sounds like they are conceding due to the VA or they would have you in to make the case.

Now I will wait for brown envelope, retro pay, and then work on IU or TDIU or see if I can 100% scheduler.

Anyway, im excited and happy the wait is over and I think it all progressed in a very timely way. I am grateful for that. I thank all of you for your encouragement and support. I wish all the best and God speed to all of you and praying for success with all of your claims.

Congrats and good luck with SSDI. I was approved 2 weeks ago, in less than 4 months, which is really fast in Texas, and my first try. I think that I was approved solely on my PTSD. If you need a copy of a Patricks Self Report, let me know. I have emailed it to several people on here, and we all think that this report helps a lot. It basically uses the SSAs Laws and Regs against the SSA to support our claims for disability.
