  1. I agree with asknod that the Independent Living Program will be your best bet. I got 100% P&T years after I attended a VA Voc Rehab program. I don't think they will do much more for me other than try and reduce my benefit if they get a chance. I think once you are 100% P&T it is best to lay low and not make any waves. I did try hard to rehabilitate myself but my disabilities finally got the best of me.

  2. In order to get service connection you need the following:

    1) An injury or disease that was incurred during military service.

    2) A current injury or disease that is result of the injury or disease incurred in service.

    3) A Nexus statement that links one and two above. This has to be from a medical doctor or specialist that treats that kind of injury or disease. It must indicate that 1) and 2) are linked and it must be presented as evidence in your claim.

  3. You can also call peggy(nickname 18008271000 and hit zero after each prompt four maybe five times and they set up a call to call you back and you ask about your claim. You will need to give them your ssn#, va file number, name, branch of service...they will tell you if the regional office has received your info...wait 4 to 6 weeks after you send evidence to call them. Good Luck and we all go through this crap!

  4. The best thing to do is to send the evidence in US Postal Mail Certified Receipt (Green Card returned to you) and then when they acknowledge that they have received it (Green Card) keep it with a copy of what you sent. Make sure that your letter that details your evidence has your return address, phone number, SSN# and or VA File# on it. I have sent stuff through ebenefits and later they claimed they didn't receive it. Send it to your VA Regional Office. A short summary sheet that outlines your evidence wouldn't hurt either. About two weeks later start sending periodically (once twice month) iris inquiries on the status receipt of your disability claim (save iris response on paper or flash drive). To do the iris inquiries go to www.va.gov look for button top right of page where you can ask a question. Fill out the iris inquiry completely with your question. Faster response if you ask them to respond through email than phone call.

  5. I got turned down on my left wrist fracture every year or two even though I have good documentation in US Navy medical records showing I had a fracture and was in a cast for 4 weeks. I just kept appointments gathering evidence and resubmitting the claim. Finally after about 10 to 12 years I had a good C&P exam that got me 0% service connection. You just never know when things are going to go your way. It took me more than twenty years to get a mental condition service connected even though I had medical documentation in my US Naval Medical Records. Never give up! That is what they want! They want you to get discouraged and walk away.

  6. Good luck on the wrist. I have a left wrist that I fractured in boot camp and I had a hell of a fight just to get it service connected at 0%. You can never give up and you have to fight to get anything from the VA. I have been fighting them for over twenty years and I am still fighting them. Never quit and never say die. Use the info here on hadit and you will be fine. Read hadit. Others here are facing and have faced what you are. Learn what works. Research and a good presentation of evidence is key.

  7. Apparently there is no age when the VA quits screwing with the veteran. Just so you know this is the kind of thing that needs to be directed at robert.a.mcdonald@va.gov and he has given out his personal phone number which is (513) 509-8454 to the media.

  8. I don't know about BVA doing this but in a regular claim with regional office they did this too me. I had a glowing C&P exam with a VA doctor. They they asked a Nurse Practitioner for her opinion on the C&P exam and she wrote a negative opinion that was quite biased. I protested for another C&P exam, got one, and the new C&P examiner agreed with the original doctor's C&P exam's results. I got 70% service connection for the disability. The VA is sneaky! Hold their feet to fire and don't let them get away with anything!
