  1. In Nebraska, disabled veteran plates don't reduce the fees or taxes. When you get disabled veteran plates you pay all the regular fees and taxes and an additional $5 for the disabled veteran plate. This even includes 100% T&P veterans
  2. I've had four colonoscopies. The most difficult part of a colonoscopy is the prep the night before. You either take the pills with water or a mixture called golyte. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to drink and after about 30 minutes into drinking you'll have severe diahrea. The following morning you'll go to the hospital were they will start a IV and give you demerol and versed or fentynal and versed. It's called conscious sedation. You are awake but will remember nothing. You'll have no pain or discomfort. I've had four colonoscopies and 12 scopes of my throat, with both the VA and civilian doctors. They both do the procedures the same. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. The only bad thing is drinking the stuff the night before. If the doc ever gives you the choice, the Golyte is easier to drink than the 20 or 30 pills with water. Good luck.
  3. I was prescibed the same dose of prazosin for sleep. It didn't help me sleep, but I didn't have any bad side effects.
  4. Berta, I have a list of General Counsel numbers and that's not one of them. All of the General counsel numbers start with 1-202-273-xxxx. I called that number you gave and it is the number for the judgement fund for the treasury department. Thanks Berta I needed the number.
  5. The VA told me they didn't do implants, only bridges.
  6. 30%+20%+20%+10%+10%= 64% rounded down to 60%
  7. Cavman, I'm in the same boat as you. I also start getting medicare next month and have no idea what plan to choose.
  8. Under title 38, part 4, subpart b, paragraph 4.71. The 1 year following total knee replacement is 100%
  9. I started the Betaseron today and it sucks. I took ibuprofen before and after taking the shot. I'm still sick as a dog. How long does it take to quit getting ill after taking betaseron, days, weeks or months?
  10. I received an ID card and commissary/px privilages when I was only 80% getting 100% IU, WITHOUT being P&T.
  11. If you are fortunate to live out here in the middle of no where (Nebraska) it usually takes less than a month. My last claim was at the rating board less than 2 weeks.
  12. I mentioned that I was recently given 80% IU T&P, 70% for depression, 30% gerd, 30% IBS, 10% shoulder, 10% ankle. I've been having neurological problems for the last 8 years. I've seen 3 different neurologists 2 civilian and 1 VA. They all have said it looks like multiple sclerosis but with out a positive MRI of spinal tap they can't give me a definite diagnoses. Last week the VA neurologist called me at home and said she is giving me a diagnoses of "probable ms" and recommended me start the ms drug betaseron. I see one of the major side effects of Betaseron is depression. I'm kind of reluctant to start betaseron and worsen my depression. Has anyone out there taken betaseron for ms and what side effects did you suffer?
  13. I've was 80% IU for the last 1 1/2 years and put in for total and permanent and a few other claims. I received an award letter a few days ago granting me total and permanent. After getting the award for T&P I've gotten severly depressed. I 've been rated 70% for depression for the last 7 years. I know I should feel great about getting T&P but now it feels like my life is over and have nothing to look forward to. Has anyone else felt worse after getting T&P?
  14. I have a friend that was discharged with an other than honorable discharge for drug use. Can he get his discharge upgraded? Can he get treatment from the VA with that type of discharge? Can he recieve VA disability compensation. He was diagnosed with major depression in the service and still suffers from depression. He has never been seen by physicians since leaving the service account his financial situation.
  15. Yesterday I posted a topic and did not double click or reenter the post and the site still double posted.
  16. I was awarded p&t January 5th 2007 with an effective date of August 29, 2006. Can my wife get retroactive chapter 35 benefits back to August 29th?
  17. Pete I've been reading about champva coverage.Champva and medicare part D do work together. After the $250 deductable has been met with medicare part D then meds are 100% covered until the medicare $2500.00 limit is reached. Trucks I understand champva, my question is there supplemental insurance for champva. There are many companies that provide supplemental insurance for Tricare. Champva's web site speaks about supplemental insurance for champva but doesn't list any names. The supplemental insurance pays for deductibles and copays that champva doesn't.
  18. Is Champva supplemental insurance worth purchasing? Does anyone have a list of insurance companies that sell supplemental insurance for champva? I was awarded permanent and total yesterday and don't have a clue about champva.
  19. That's easier, but I'm computer stupid.
  20. I'm from Nebraska but here is what I found. Go to www.michigan.gov and in the search field enter MI-1040CR-2 and then select the first selection in items found. That is the form to figure propert tax relief for disabled veterans I hope that helps.
  21. Last night I went to the local ER, not the VA, for my persistent headache. The doc gave me fentanyl for the pain and told me to come back today so a anesthesiologist could give me a blood patch to stop the csf leak. I woke up this morning and the headache is gone. B)
  22. Wasn't allowed any time to lay down after spinal tap. Was told to get dressed and go home which is a 2 1/2 hour drive.
  23. I had a lumbar puncture 2 days ago. I woke up yesterday with a horrible headache. Has anyone out there had a headache after their lumbar puncture and if so how long did the headache last? I've been in bed for 2 days and i'm tired of laying here.
