Not sure where this goes and feel free to move it. I just wanted to give hope and good news for my fellow VETS.  I am 100% schedular with the VA and sent in for student loan forgiveness. I just got my confirmation today that my Student loans were fully forgiven! YAY......I am NOT P&T or TDIU either. So as long as the VA considers you 100% you qualify for the student loan forgiveness. GOD IS GREAT!!!

Misunderstood I must add that not only educational benefits but not having to worry about retirement either.
Since I am the sole breadwinner it concerns me greatly about if or when I can retire.  Reaching 100% via extra schedular will remove that worry for sure.
I know my body won't hold out that long, but I can probably force myself to make the minimum requirements at my job.

Andyman I totally understand. It will be a few years before the education benefits kick in but I love knowing that I don't have to worry about that. I needed that peace of mind. Nothing like knowing that your children's futures are looking bright!

Thank you. I hope your journey ends in success. I know that it was really hard for me to get from that 90 to 100%, I was shocked when I looked and I was granted the SMC S. I did not even know that existed. God is Great! Remember to fight the good fight and never give up. You have this!

God is Great! I asked for P%T and well I just went on Ebenefits and I got it!!! I applied for P&T after they awarded me 100% schedular in October. Last month I applied for P&T because I felt that I should have no future exams and that my PTSD should be considered static. I filed the 526EZ  in November and asked for P&T shortly after they bumped me to 100 % percent schedular (October) and they awarded it to me. Thank God I do not have to worry about my childrens health insurance and college now. I can only say that it does not hurt to ask. I was prepared for them to say no but I so happy and blessed that they said yes. 

@Flores I know it takes a lot of  stress away when you have children knowing that college will be taken care of. I have a soon to be 13 year old and a newborn on the way. I just needed the stress to be somewhat alleviated. I have been fighting with the VA since I left active duty. It took me 10 years to get to this point. It was nice to get back pay though..hehehe....but I knew that by now my PTSD was not going to improve. After several hospitalizations you would think they would have done it all on their own but not.

I have 3 and a half years before my first born graduates high school.  Seems like a  long time, but not really. Kid number 2 is only in 4th grade and the Foster baby is only 10 months old.
I sure am looking forward to those Ch. 35 educational benefits!

I have written on here about myself. I filed for P&T even though they had only just given me 100% with SMC-S a couple of months before  (backdated 2 years). My case is that I felt that I should be P &T for my PTSD which they awarded me 100% scheduler alone for. It only took like a month for them to approve my P&T application. I might be a rare case here. It took me a very long time to get to 100% though ( started at 10% for my ptsd and fought for the next 10 years to get to 100%). I filed a 526EZ along with my 21-4138 stating why I felt I should be P &T and I also attached my SSDI award letter and a social security statement that showed that I hadn't worked in over 5 years. Everyone is different so I don't think there is a sample letter because no two vets are the same.  If you are planning to file go for it. Be prepared for the worst but hope for the best. That's what I did.
The biggest relief was the benefits received for being P&T because I have an almost 13 year old and a soon to be newborn that I needed the additional benefits for.

missunderstood,  I agree completely,  especially with you being hospitalized for ptsd. I have to admit,  that is definitely the most difficult time for me,  having to explain to my kids why I can't help as much with their college expenses as I should. I'm in urgent care at VA usually two to three times a month for lupus flares,  infections,  etc,  so there's mountains of treatment records lol,  I'm hoping to hear something soon. Again,  congratulations!

Congratulations!! I applaud you,  you had the right attitude, perseverance and persistence. That gives me hope as well,  I am currently at 90%, I have applied for tdiu and I did ask for p&t as well since both my VA pcp as well as my voc rehab counselor said I was permanently and totally disabled. College is the biggest stress for me,  I have five children, and while my son has been accepted into the Citadel,  I have a daughter in college that I am helping currently,  and my middle son is about to graduate high school.  I've been waiting over a year for the NOD on tdiu ,  which isn't that long at all, and hopefully the letter from Voc Rehab will carry the day.  Again congratulations

Ok. So I just called 1 800 wheresmyclaim (lol) and they told me that the last time anything was done on my NOD was 12 May 2016 and that the status was updated to ready to be rated. There was absolutely nothing done to it before that. So at this point I think I have another 2-3 years before they assign it to a DRO and get the rating done. I also called Social security and found out that they requested records from the VA for me in 2014 (my SSDI is solely based on my service connected disability of PTSD/Depression). I am still on SSDI so hopefully that's worth something too. I was told that if the NEW TDIU claim (just filed 2 days ago) is granted and that I can use that unsolicited evidence of the TDIU filing from 2014 as evidence for retro pay.
