  1. C&Pman, I am not sure this will answer your question, but I had some things on a previous claim the va didn't approve but latter did, therby a higher rating is awarded if your condition has gotten worse. You have to have the evidence to support it and you have to ask for it. I have an emg comming up in a few days and I am not looking forward to it. I noticed you are at 50% so all of medical should be covered by the va. I am one of the lucky ones, I have insurance so I get opinions from private doctors and that does help in a va claim.
  2. Pete992, I agree with you. Befor I entered the army I was a completely different person. When I got out I was a different person and have been ever sense. People tell me that, that knew me before and after the military. I to am a non combat veteran and like you things do get on my nerves. I have good days and bad days and on my bad days I just stay away from people. The military does indeed change people no mater where they served but the va won't admit it.
  3. Big brother is always watching. Nothing is a secret anymore. Kind of intimidating to say the least. I guess we have reached the point where we can't look out for ourselves.
  4. Sgmda, I know where you are coming from, I to was at FT Campbell for basic in 67 and wound up in vietnam. Its not a good place to grow up but we did become men at a young age. I know I am not the same person I was before I went. To many bad memories which never go away. If you haven't already filed for PTSD do it and hadit members will walk you thru the system and you can and will win. We were and still are veterans and buddies and that will never change. We are here to help. BTW thanks for your service, You could be the one who saved my butt. Thanks buddy.
  5. To all who have won awards recently, all I can say is you earned it and welcome home and thanks for your service to our country. Enjoy the award and I hope your day is good.
  6. Remember this, You have to ask for everything you get from the va, it don't come automatley until you ask for it. That is the va system. There is a lot of people on hadit that has been there, done that, and know what they are talking about. Its where I get my info from and its worked.
  7. Stay with hadit and ask questions. There are people on here that have far more knowledge about the va regs and the va system than I do but I am here several time a day, If I can help, I will but I won't give you the wrong info. If I don't know the answer, then I don't say anything. Someone will chime in and tell you what to do. This is where I get my info and its worked very well for me. Remember we are all veterans and we never give up. I hope all of you have a nice day.
  8. You can file an appeal or a Nod (notice of disagreement) with their decision and the va will have to look at it again. It will take time, but you have nothing to lose and maybe a lot to gain. Stick with it and never give up, If you do you lose.
  9. Purple gave you some good advise. Never send anything to the va without a returned receipt and file the the receipt, thats good evidence if you take it to a higher level. Wthout it the va can say , we never receivded it. It will cost you a little and a little time, but thats the way you work with the va. Good luck
  10. If the va is going to keeping making the statement that they have the best medical care then keep bitiching until they get the doctors to take care of womens problems. I am on your side girl. Stay with it. My best to you.
  11. Good for you and yours. The va system appears to be doing better lately. You earned it buddy.
  12. Good for you and yours Jim. You earned it. If the people only knew what that war did to us and ours I think they would have more respect for us today.
  13. Yes Purple, I to have problems with things like that but I think we all have them and some people just say don't respond but I can't do that. I have a nephew who gets on my nerves just by showing up at my house. Next time he shows up I won't say anything to him I will just call the police and ask them to please come by and remove him. Maybe then he will understand we don't have anything in common. I am learning anger managment. More than one way to handle a proplem.
  14. No, you are not the only one who feels that way. I tell vets the va has a system and they have to work with it, however some follow my advise and some don't. The ones that don't lose their claims and come back and ask why. My frist question to him/her is, are you ready to listen now.
  15. I received a letter from veterans affairs about three weeks ago that said the checks would be realesed in June and if you did not have by the 10th of July call them at this # 1-800-827-1000 or you contact them by e-mail by using iris. be sure to have your file # handy
  16. Do what ever you have to do, but get him some help. I went thru a depressive period back in the 90's and the things I thought about doing to myself still scares me today. Depression is dangerous and needs to be to be checked into immediatly. Demand help, don't ask and tell the va if they don't provide it they are looking at a lawsuit. Good luck
  17. I am proud of both of you. You for helping a vet, and your friend for winning his claim. Veterans should never forget other vets who served along with us. We never met a lot of the people who served but they are still our brothers and sisters and they need to be treated with respect and kindness and we as vets need to help them with our knowledge of the va system. I thank you for your service and for helping a fellow vet. Who knows, he could be the one who saved our lives. I hope you have a good day, you earned it.
  18. I am going to have to get a note book and write these things down. I just left Lowes about an hour ago and forgot to ask them about a veterans discount, bad memory, I just don't have it anymore. I also went to sears and bought a few things and contributed to the disabled veterans and got a gift certificate to outback steak house for the amount of the contribution, so it really didn' cost me anything. Helping a vet is my way of giving back what they did for me.
  19. For me I get a paper check and I get it cashed at the bank and put it in my pocket. I get a notice with every check to sign up for direct deposit which is supposed to be safer, Bs when they get in control of your bank account the bank will do what they want to.
  20. Philip, you are right, I must have dislexia as I get older I seem to be doing that a lot. Thanks for the correction as I don't want to give a veteran any wrong information. Thanks
  21. Kevin_Corona, I can't help you with your knee but I can give you some advise. Don't contact a congressman as this will most likely cause an investigation by him and it will slow down your claim. I found this out from experience. It took me 4 years to get my frist claim approved simply because I got a congressman involved. You can get the help you need here. Hope this helps and have a good day.
  22. Alb, 30% plus 40% equals 58% but you will be rated at 60%. 70% plus 40% equals 92.44% but you would be rated at 90%. You can go to hadit.com home page and find the va calculator. You will find it on the left hand side of the page. Then put in the percentages and click submit and you will have the answer. Remember hadit.com. home page not the forum. Hope this helps and have a good day.
  23. Thanks Purple. I really needed to hear that. Now I will be on pins and needles until June, But I do have to have this done so I will go thru with it and see what happens. My wife says I can go thru anything, funny, I don't always fell that way. Thanks for an honest answer. At any rate the pain won't last forever.
  24. I have an EMG on June 23. I have never had one before but I have saw it done on on my brother and it was very painfull, I left the room before it was completd. The doctor didn't appear to know what he was doing as he had to call to get his equipment working properly or to learn how to operate it. Either way it was not a plesant visit. My question, is this a painfull procedure and will it help my claim as I am applying for TDIU. Will the va do this procedure in a c&p if so one is all I want to take. I do not tolerate pain very well.
