  2. I have a friend, her husband died a few years ago. She is currently collecting a portion of his retirement benefits. Her question is since he did serve in viet nam, and died of a heart attack caused by ihd, would it benefit her at all to file any claims with va? Thanks in advance.
  3. I noticed they changed my mos from 63 e to 12 something? wow didn't know that. I got the ringing in both ears but there isn't a fix for it that i know of... Thanks for the list though
  4. Carlie: Wow I thought I was the only that felt this, since my award, I have had the idea that ok now it's my turn. As all that make it to 100% don't make it long. and just keep waiting for it to happen. Well I for one am going to do my best to prove them wrong and try to live to 100. I know that won't happen, but just ignore those feelings and live my life. I am traveling a lot and seeing things, I try to fill my days with positive things to do and try not to be alone very much. congratulations on the large win and hope you get even more. Most importantly I hope you live to be 110 that will beat me by 10 years but you are worth it...
  5. Mater full job, I found it very pleasant to read and easy to access. Hello Berta: I would be glad to post the decision I received for this. It is rather long, and I am not close by a scanner, with text ability. 7. I can't explain it, but I filed on oct 13 on the internet. My claim was handled in the Nashville Tn office. I guess it depends a lot on the ro and their case loads. I predicted that my claim would be paid on 11/11 but was only guessing and sure enough it happened. Just hang in there it will happen soon (I hope)
  8. Hello John: So you are the one everyone is talking about that has a thing for mini-mouse!!! Ha Ha. But right here I have a P.X. at mayport, Camp Blanding and Cecil Field. 12. Hello I was going over all my medical records the other day, (while I was still in Florida) and noticed my primary care ph. made a note on one visit that I have 4 indicators of ptsd. As I know very little about this was trying to find out for myself, with little luck. I was in viet nam from January 1968 to January 1969. I was just outside sigon during the tet offensive and counter offensive. I was with engineer company and honestly cannot remember one complete day there. I know I did a lot a mine sweeping and work with c-4. I am only sure about the c-4 as I wrote letter home while training to use it and parents kept it. I guess my main question is should I file for this? I am awaiting the award letter on the ihd that in in congress now. If that is 100 percent, I most likely will not file any further. any help will be app. Later Dave
  13. of course they are, santa claus and the easter bunny and tooth fairy are all helping. pinocio just told me.
  14. Hello all: I was thinking of going to d.c. to be there for this hearing, but while on the internet, found link to view live committee meetings. Hope this is helpful to at least someone. Later Dave It says can view live meetings but haven't tried it. have viewed several old ones. Please note that Senator Jim Webb’s amendment affirming Congress’s authority to exercise a 60-day review of VA’s decision to add three presumptive illnesses – namely, Parkinson’s, Hairy Cell Leukemias, and ischemic heart disease -- to conditions linked to Agent Orange exposure during the war in Vietnam will not hold up benefits for these conditions. Click here for VA’s press release on this decision As part of an ongoing review of VA’s disability compensation program, the Committee has scheduled a hearing on VA’s Presumptive Decision-Making at 9:30 am on September 23, 2010. These proceedings are not intended to delay benefits for the three new conditions, but to provide Committee Members with a better understanding of the role of science and other elements in this process. You may view the hearing through the Committee’s website. http://veterans.senate.gov/videos.cfm
  15. Hello Just looking over the ratings for heart problems. I have ihd and filed claim 10-13-09, I noticed that 7005 Arteriosclerotic heart disease (Coronary artery disease): and 7006 Myocardial infarction: are listed as two seperate things. Does this mean if someone (like me) has both there should be 2 ratings? Thanks Dave
  16. Hello Berta: I have had 2 c&p for ihd 1 was doctor evaluation then 1 for ekg and 1 for heart ultrasound. Haven't heard anything since though.
  17. just got approved for ssd. ihd and pad. this will make the wait for va and ihd a little easier. thanks for all your help here..
  18. I AM SENDING THIS TO EVERYBODY IN MY EMAIL AND HOPEFULLY THEY WILL DO THE SAME.. Webb: Delay Agent Orange Claims, Stop Bigger Pay Raises Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va) could become a new champion, for taxpayers, against what he perceives as excessive spending on a new wave of Agent Orange claims. Webb risked the anger of thousands of veterans from that war when he won Senate approval last week of an amendment to block, at least temporarily, the Department of Veterans Affairs from paying new disability claims on three prominent diseases presumed linked to wartime herbicide exposure. As many as 86,000 Vietnam veterans with ischemic heart disease, Parkinson's disease or B-cell leukemia are awaiting a final VA regulation to receive disability compensation based on a decision last fall by VA Secretary Shinseki of evidence linking these diseases with exposure to deadly defoliant used during the war. VA officials not only have published interim regulations already but, for months, have been encouraging veterans stricken with these diseases, or their surviving spouses, to file new claims or re-file claims as soon as possible because benefits would be paid back to claim filing dates. But Webb proposed, and senators accepted May 27, an amendment to the fiscal 2010 war supplemental funding bill (HR 4899) to limit spending on claims filed for these new presumptive Agent Orange diseases for 60 days. That will allow Congress time to study the VA decision and examine more closely the link found between these diseases and herbicide exposure. What worries Webb, said one Capitol Hill source, is that, based on modest scientific evidence, VA could be paying claims on diseases that a large proportion of any population will contract through normal aging. Webb's amendment language, if agreed to by the House, would invoke the Congressional Review Act which allows a funding freeze on any major government regulation or initiative so Congress can review the proposed changes. If in 60 days opposition strengthens and a majority of lawmakers will risk the wrath of expectant veterans with these ailments, Congress could pass a joint resolution to prevent a final regulation from taking effect. a link to the entire article: http://www.military....00.html?wh=news AM I MAD OR WHAT!!! 20. Hello all was wondering about effective date of the three new regs. just found this on va site and am pretty sure my date will be oct 15 as that was the date i filed. Public and Intergovernmental Affairs VA Proposes Change to Aid Veterans Exposed to Agent Orange March 25, 2010 Proposed Regulation Change Adds Illnesses to List of Diseases Subject to Presumptive Service Connection for Herbicide Exposure WASHINGTON – Well over 100,000 Veterans exposed to herbicides while serving in Vietnam and other areas will have an easier path to qualify for disability pay under a proposed regulation published by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) that adds three new illnesses to the list of health problems found to be related to Agent Orange and other herbicide exposures. "This is an important step forward for Vietnam Veterans sufferingfrom these three illnesses," said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki. "These warriors deserve medical care and compensation for health problems they have incurred." The regulation follows Shinseki's October 2009 decision to add the three illnesses to the current list of diseases for which service connection for Vietnam Veterans is presumed. The illnesses are B cell leukemias, such as hairy cell leukemia; Parkinson's disease; and ischemic heart disease. The Secretary's decision is based on the latest evidence of an association with widely used herbicides such as Agent Orange during the Vietnam War, as determined in an independent study by the Institute of Medicine (IOM). Even though this is a proposed rule, VA encourages Vietnam Veterans with these three diseases three to submit their applications for compensation now so the Agency can begin development of their claims and so they can receive benefits from the date of their applications once the rule becomes final.
