sgmdae
Stretch Good comment... MOS...Military Occupational Speciality, an Army Term I would only use the MOS term if it was a claimed Army Vet They usually claim three things Special Forces, Seal, Force Recon, and most cases they claim they hit the Sergeant or Officer if they got out early They come up with some great stories, combination of thing they heard, movies they watch, and their owm imagination
HadIt.com Elder Commander Bob Posted August 7, 2009 Author HadIt.com Elder Share Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) The Military Occupational Speciality ( MOS )is used in the Army and the Marines. The Air Force uses the AFSC ( Air Force Specialty Code ) As Stretch posted, the Navy is different, in that a system of navel ratings and designators are used along with the Navy Enlisted Classification ( NEC ). DMOS is an abbreviation for Duty Military Occupational Speciality, not to be confused with a MOS. Back to the Navy. Officers in the USN have a Designator. It is similar to a MOS but is less complicated and has fewer categories. So An officer with the Naval Aviator code might have an AQD of DV3, SH-60F Carrier. A Navy Seal would have a NEC of 5326 Combatant Swimmer (SEAL ), unless they were an officer then they would have a designator... See it's simple. On second thought, don't try this at home , kids, unless you understand how to catch a wannabe. HadIt.com Elder LarryJ Posted August 7, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted August 7, 2009 Yes, the USMC had MOS's. Mine was 0621 (radio operator-field). They picked me for that because of my size (I could tote the damned radio AND the Lt., if necessary!).
