Question

VAMC has been changing appts around/canceling them/ rescheduling them/ giving other vets my appts and rescheduling me...WTF????

I am sick and tired of the fuc*ing incompetent azzholes here that do what they want when they want with no regard to my travel of 3 hrs one way 137 miles ofwhich 90 on 2 lans narrow country roads...They give my scheduled appt to other vets and give me new dates...I can't take it going there ever week my back and legs hurt so badly I am down for days after...

They give me an appt then change it and say not confirmed/give to another vet and reschedule me,,,so who confirms the new appts and changes??

Told pt advocate yesterday and she agreed this was wrong to do this to me, but not able to change anything...told her I wonder if the statue of limitations ran out for me to go after the F'ed up NP that screwed my C&P exam could have legal actions taken against her???? Doubtful now years later.

Travel/lodging doesn't make it better if one is in severe pain and the drive causes more trauma...Before they would even schedule me 5-6 appts in one day and I never missed any, yet the more I fight with the VARO, the more the VAMC jacks with my scheduled appts...

I am so sick and tired of their games with my life and psyche too

No they won't fee base either...even though I have gone to neuro Dr since 1980...they want me to see the one at the VARO...

Sorry you're dealing with this grief, halos.

Seems to be a regional thing; Vegas screwed me repeatedly sometimes canceling DAY OF appointment, which screws up your schedule. But Vegas and San Francisco were ghetto compared to Portland and other VA's.

I'm afraid some of the problem may be vets claiming their situation is an emergency when it isn't in order to be seen sooner.

I have no idea what the other reasons may be.

Hang in there! :)

The VA started this crazy program where you can't actually make an appointment in advance. You make an appointment to make an appointment. I see my shrink every three months supposedly. When I leave his office I can't make an appointment to see him in three months. I get a letter from VA two months later saying it is time to make an appointment with my shrink. Now I have to call the VAMC and make an appointment with my shrink. Often this means another month or longer to get the actual appointment. They don't trust me to make an appointment and show up three months later without a dozen reminders. I can't actually plan things. I have never missed an appointment, but I and others are treated like incompentents. I found out by accident I have an appointment with the pain clinic in July. If it screws up my schedule, too bad. They owe me treatment but they don't make it easy. My VAMC has the most modern equiptment there is ,but the problem is getting access to it. My foot hurts for two days after a trip to the VAMC even with my wife pushing me in a wheelchair. I wait in the hot sun for a shuttle bus to get to the hospital. I open a vein to get some cheap meds and document my disabilites.

Its another shell game the VA is running so that they can say on paper that Vets can get an appointment in 30 days or less. I have been at VA waiting to see Doc and get a call on cell phone that my appointment has been rescheduled.

One of these days a Veteran is going to snap.

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.

Right, and when some vet goes crazy and guns down a bunch of people at a VAMC the reaction will be metal detectors and pat downs. We think it is hard to get access to your VA doctor now! The problem that drove the vet out of his mind won't be addressed. It will be group punishment for the rest of us.

I make my appt with my psych doc when i leave my appt. It never fails , 1-2 weeks before next appt i get a cancel letter ( 75 % of the time ).

Now check this out, last week i get 3 letters in the mail on the same day from VA. I get a little anxious as i have a NOD in and am expecting some news. How i opened these up in the right order i don't know.

First letter confirming appt , 2 nd letter canceling 1st letters appt and 3rd letter rescheduling 1st letters appt . Ha Ha serious it really happened.

So now i'm pissed and anxious ( where are my meds ) Ha Ha !!!!!!!

" It's gonna get deep real quick , so hold your breath "

    • These decisions have made a big impact on how VA disability claims are handled, giving veterans more chances to get benefits and clearing up important issues.

      Service Connection

      Frost v. Shulkin (2017)
This case established that for secondary service connection claims, the primary service-connected disability does not need to be service-connected or diagnosed at the time the secondary condition is incurred 1. This allows veterans to potentially receive secondary service connection for conditions that developed before their primary condition was officially service-connected.

      Saunders v. Wilkie (2018)
The Federal Circuit ruled that pain alone, without an accompanying diagnosed condition, can constitute a disability for VA compensation purposes if it results in functional impairment 1. This overturned previous precedent that required an underlying pathology for pain to be considered a disability.

      Effective Dates

      Martinez v. McDonough (2023)
This case dealt with the denial of an earlier effective date for a total disability rating based on individual unemployability (TDIU) 2. It addressed issues around the validity of appeal withdrawals and the consideration of cognitive impairment in such decisions.

    • I met with a VSO today at my VA Hospital who was very knowledgeable and very helpful.  We decided I should submit a few new claims which we did.  He told me that he didn't need copies of my military records that showed my sick call notations related to any of the claims.  He said that the VA now has entire military medical record on file and would find the record(s) in their own file.  It seemed odd to me as my service dates back to  1981 and spans 34 years through my retirement in 2015.  It sure seemed to make more sense for me to give him copies of my military medical record pages that document the injuries as I'd already had them with me.  He didn't want my copies.  Anyone have any information on this.  Much thanks in advance.

    • Caluza Triangle defines what is necessary for service connection
Caluza Triangle – Caluza vs Brown defined what is necessary for service connection. See COVA– CALUZA V. BROWN–TOTAL RECALL

This has to be MEDICALLY Documented in your records:

Current Diagnosis.   (No diagnosis, no Service Connection.)

      In-Service Event or Aggravation.
Nexus (link- cause and effect- connection) or Doctor’s Statement close to: “The Veteran’s (current diagnosis) is at least as likely due to x Event in military service”

    • Do the sct codes help or hurt my disability rating
    • VA has gotten away with (mis) interpreting their  ambigious, , vague regulations, then enforcing them willy nilly never in Veterans favor.

They justify all this to congress by calling themselves a "pro claimant Veteran friendly organization" who grants the benefit of the doubt to Veterans.

      This is not true,

      Proof:

About 80-90 percent of Veterans are initially denied by VA, pushing us into a massive backlog of appeals, or worse, sending impoverished Veterans "to the homeless streets" because  when they cant work, they can not keep their home.  I was one of those Veterans who they denied for a bogus reason:  "Its been too long since military service".  This is bogus because its not one of the criteria for service connection, but simply made up by VA.  And, I was a homeless Vet, albeit a short time,  mostly due to the kindness of strangers and friends.

Hadit would not be necessary if, indeed, VA gave Veterans the benefit of the doubt, and processed our claims efficiently and paid us promptly.  The VA is broken.

A huge percentage (nearly 100 percent) of Veterans who do get 100 percent, do so only after lengthy appeals.  I have answered questions for thousands of Veterans, and can only name ONE person who got their benefits correct on the first Regional Office decision.  All of the rest of us pretty much had lengthy frustrating appeals, mostly having to appeal multiple multiple times like I did.

I wish I know how VA gets away with lying to congress about how "VA is a claimant friendly system, where the Veteran is given the benefit of the doubt".   Then how come so many Veterans are homeless, and how come 22 Veterans take their life each day?  Va likes to blame the Veterans, not their system.
