Broncovet, I agree with you, but go one step further. I think the entire congressional leadership (both sides of the aisle) should be forced to repay the treasury their salaries for the past year because they haven't earned it. When a man's or woman's ego gets in the way of getting the job done, it's time to get rid of them.

The government "opens" stuff they want to and closes other stuff...They sent billions for foreign aid..I guess the government wasnt closed for that. Its a game of political ping pong, and Vets are supposed to chase the balls. Both sides blame each other..congress blames the president and the president blames congress.

I think they should pass a law that neither the president nor congress (nor the cabinet, such as Shinseki) gets paid in the event of a shutdown. That would get this resolved faster than anything. They WANT to get paid, but dont care about anyone else getting put on hold. Shame on those politicians. Im voting them all out.

its guaranteed in the 27th amendment. and you know how hard it would be to overturn that. i agree they shouldn't get paid.

As I stated in another post, DECIMATION, they don't pass a budget on time, we have all elected members of the legislative and executive branch draw straws. One tenth of those straws have a red stripe on them and the unlucky ones who draw them are taken out and shot! This process would only have to happen about once and we would have on-time budgets from there on out. WHEN THEIR LIVES WOULD BE AFFECTED instead of the "little people" they would pay more attention to accomplishing their work, and I suspect they wouldn't be playing chicken with other peoples money or livelihood anymore!!

Totally agree. Too much money, power, ego, greed, and time in congress ruins people. I wish there was a time limit on Congress members, just as there is for the president. Some of these congressmen/women, have been doing this too long to be effective anymore.
