Phone Appointment With Va Doctor, Is It Recorded

Are VA phone appointment recorded? I want to use the phone conversation as evidence for my claim. Will the doctor write down notes and will I be able to view them me as a regular office visit? Thank you.

that's a good question. I'm assuming this call is from a NOD? That's the only downfall of that program, you don't know what is being recorded and how can you use it for the appeal process later on if needed...

My guess is no. Here's something you might consider trying as it relates to evidence... I have had success in reaching many of my "team of VA doctors" by using the secure messaging method. Secure messaging can be found on the MyHealtheVet website. This system of contacting your doc is relatively new, therefore your particular doc may not be utilizing it yet. You should check to see. In my case I can send a "secure message" to my PCP, my neurology doc, my CBOC docs and LCSW's. I have found it very helpful as they read these messages DAILY and usually get back to me quite quickly.

Another benefit is that every time a patient sends or replies using Secure Messaging it becomes a part of your VA medical records WORD FOR WORD! So please use good judgement prior to sending...You don't want to include anything that could hurt your case in the long run when an examiner views the file. (Make sure anything you wouldn't want your own mom to see is ever contained in what you send..ie, curse words!) Just try to keep it professional at all times.

I'm not saying this is the best way to present evidence by any means. Nor am I suggesting that someone wiil look at your messages and decide your case based solely on them! But they may just help swing the pendulum of doubt in your favor as the VA decides your fate. In my opinion, it has helped me as I suffer migraine headaches and contact my doc every so often to provide updates as to severity. Hope you can experience the same benefits I have by giving secure messaging a look.

I would say "NO" as well. If you don't have it in writing you don't have it with the VA.

For an update, phone appointments are recorded.. it just took 4 weeks for it to show up on the blue button. Thank you
