Question

Hello fellow Vets,

I have been viewing this forum for a while as a guest, but I think it is better to be a member when one is reading so many personal accounts. Otherwise, I'm just a creeper. I am a single mom and caregiver to my own mom. I was on active duty with the USAF for 12 years, separated honorably from Bolling AFB.  DC did me in, but when I separated in 2004, I really did not think that I would ever file a claim for anything because I had no faith in doctors and no time machine to realize that my health problems would get so much worse within the decade. Anyway, I would like to say that I am not in the same boat as a lot of traumatically injured members here, but many friends and family members have encouraged me to file for compensation because they have seen my physical and mental capacities decline (I am only 42).  Everything started while I was in the military, but the docs would blow me off almost every time I went in for answers. Funny, if I wanted drugs, they were more than helpful, but to press for tests to find out what was wrong- nope. You can't tell them anything, either.

I only filed my claim a month ago, and I am already sure I did it wrong or back asswards, so I know I have some time to wait. I look forward to discussions here, and thank you all for your service!

Talon,

Can you take someone with you, to help you maintain your frame of mind?  I hope all the best for you with this meeting.

pumibel,

Nope, didn't forget the clowns, cuz they can't find me either.  But I didn't mention that I'm strapped down in the bed, with the sheets over the straps so no one can see them.  I get flashes of this even when I'm awake.  I usually have night sweats when I'm having that dream.  Wife really hates that, cuz she has to wash all the bedding then...it's like I sweat out a quart or more!

Talon, no VA Hospital within 70 mile radius? I never received Tri-Care, are you proscribed from using VMCs.

What MH condition were you DX'd with, while on active duty?

Do you currently have a PTSD Appeal pending? Have you requested (FOIA) your complete C-File? All SC Claims DBQ's should be in it, takes a while to get, file for it ASAP.

I was diagnosed originally with Adjustment Disorder, I believe based off my statements that I couldn't stand dealing with the bureaucracy of being assigned to AETC after being operational for most of my career and just leaving special operations.  I also believe they use this a preliminary diagnosis for PTSD.  After about 8-10 appointments, the diagnosis was changed to PTSD.  They never really did much treatment on AD, just the same questionnaires over and over.  I went on terminal leave maybe a month later (this is not supposed to happen, they are supposed to hold you at least 6 months by regulation).  On terminal leave, without work to hide behind, everything hit the fan.  That was a year and a half ago.

I am awaiting an initial rating, I can't see my DBQ because it was completed by a contractor and I don't want to request my c-file until I have a rating, I don't want to do anything that could possibly slow things down any more.  Without a rating, I don't think I can utilize the VA for this.  I believe I should be 70%, but who knows until you see the DBQ?  I leave my house. on average, maybe once every 10 days, almost always for appointments.

Without a rating you are just floating in limbo...

That's a pretty strange dream!  I usually wake up suddenly right before I start dreaming, a defensive response I think. When I don't, I am usually crashing planes in the dark if I'm lucky.  Hey, at least I get to fly again that way, sort of!  Besides, most of my other dreams are far worse.

Quite contra-re, your a Vet so your eligible for VAMC. You might get jerked around for Prescription Co-Pays until you get, I think it's a 30% min SC rating, and based on your financial situation; maybe no co-pay.

You mentioned that you had 1 or more C&Ps, for what and when?  Do you have any previous SC claims Denied that are on appeal or have become Final?

You won't get the C-File for probably 6 to 12+ months after you request it. I would advise you to file a (FOIA) request yesterday, you really need to know what the raters are looking at, so you can address any errors. You can always order another copy at a later date. You might luck out and get it on CD, might be quicker.

I assume you've got or requested all your active duty military records including all MMRs and have them in your possession, right?
