SMC-L with bumps to higher levels for add'l 50% & 100% ratings
If receiving SMC-L for loss of use of feet, and you have additional ratings above the 100% for the loss of use of feet, how far can "bumps" to L 1/2, M, M 1/2, N etc. go for add'l 50% and/or 100% ratings? (I know SMC-L plus additional 50% gets SMC-L 1/2; or SMC-L plus additional 100% gets SMC-M) Is there a limit in "bumps", or do the "bumps" continue? (i.e. - L to L 1/2, to M, to M 1/2 to M 1/2 to N and so on, for add'l 50% or 100% ratings for each bump). Is is possible to continue bumps, or is there a limit to just one or two bumps in SMC levels?

Does the VA combine 2 SMC L's
Good day fellow vetrans. My question is this I am currently SMC L with Aid and attendance and P1. I have recently filed a claim for loss of use for hips dues to sever loss of range of motion. Did a nexus with orthopaedic doctor and xrays as well. I put in for a increase to M but now I am hearing that's not quite how it works if I get the loss of use for the hips approved and it is also a seperate Smc L rating. Only found one thing here that suggest it will be combined and become SMC O. But again smc is so hard to figure out I am not sure. Anyone else gone through this?

SMC-l Aid and Attendance
I have been 100% P&T since 1989. Recently my conditions have gotten worse and I went to my VA Doctor and she filled out an Aid & Attendance form very favorably. My question is will VA grant the SMC-l out right based upon her favorable findings. Or will they call me in for a C&P exam?

SMC-L qualifications
Hello everyone, I am helping a retired Army vet with conceded AO SC exposure and moderate dementia and other issues (pending SC) look into SMC-L. I looked into § 3.350 and these two criteria (in bold) stand out. Would any of the following potentially qualify him for SMC-L under the above criteria? Can no longer work because he forgot how to drive back and forth from work to home. Forgets to take his medicine or request refills. Sometimes forgets he took his medicine and takes more (took three months of meds in one month). Unable to budget how to pay bills. His wife has to do a house safety/security check before bed because he tends to …

Should I be entitled to SMC-L 1/2 ?
I was just awarded an increase from 70% to 100% for PTSD-Combat and was awarded SMC-L for Aid and Attendance. I am curious if I should be getting SMC=L 1/2 as I have over 50% from below disabilities? I am still waiting on paperwork to come in, so they could have counted the 40% lower back in the A/A and even if they used the 20% shoulder towards the A/A I should still be entitled as I am over 50% from the remaining 4 that have zero to do with anything A/A. Also, I have never had SMC-S if that helps. Thanks 100% PTSD 40% Back 30% Chronic Sinusitis 30% IBS 20% Shoulder 10% scars 10% tinnitus 100% P&T with SMC-K and SMC-L…

SMC-L Aid/Attendance Question
I guess I need to know how to go forward. I am 100%P&T schedular AND TDIU. I intend on filing a SMC-L claim for aid/attendance. I became aware of the form 21-2680 (Exam for permanent need for aid and attendance). My Primary doctor is a VA doctor and will most likely not fill out the form. I have no doctor that I know of that can fill out the form for me. I know I can file for SMC-L online at E-Benefits but is the 21-2680 a NECESSITY for filing the claim? I have gathered the appropriate VA Medical notes which clearly show my need for assistance in adl's such as shoes/socks/bathing/trimming toenails as well as statements such as "Unable to perform ADL's" tha…

SMC-L Aid/Attendance Question
I'm 100%P&T schedular AND TDIU. Prior to receiving my 100%, I had a THR in 2017 and received SMC for a year, which is standard. They then cut me off the SMC in Dec, 2018. When I won my appeal for numerous disabilities and was awarded the final rating in 2019, I did not receive SMC (aid/attendance). Three questions: 1- It is my understanding that when awarded 100%, the VA is obligated to consider SMC for aid/attendance regardless of whether or not it was included in the claim. Because I did not get it, does that mean they looked at it and decided against it? I was going to write an "informal" letter to my Regional Office asking them to look but don't know i…

Hi Everyone, Thank you for all your valuable information that you provide. It has help me greatly! I have a question. I was just awarded a Special Housing Grant because of my eyes. I am legally blind in my left eye, and have glaucoma in both eyes. I found out I qualify for the SMC L or L1/2 plus SMC-k. Is there a form that i need to fill out and send to the V.A. I have received the BBE stating that I was approved for the housing grant. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jimmer

Requirements for SMC-L Aid and Attendance.
hello fellow patriots. Im looking to for some clarity of my smc-L for aid and attendance claim. I just had a higher level review officer hearing and was told i need not a combine 100% rating which i have but that i need a single disability to be rated at 100%. when reading the cfr i dont see that. the officer said i would qualify because of my need for aid and attendance is clear since ive been in the caregiver program for last 8 years but that i needed a single disability at 100%. is this correct? thank you guys and gals!
