My professor just sent me an article on this from the Daily Sun. It might sound odd to many of you but Native Americans , as veterans, have some distinct cultural patterns and needs that the VA has recognized in this unique way. Indians with PTSD often are treated by medicine men and cleansing ceremonies when they are back with their tribes. The Hayden VA in Pheonix Arizona reimburses medicine men who perform ceremonies and services to alleviate PTSD on the reservation for any VA patient who is affiliated with the Navaho Nation. Sure makes sense to me-Native Amerindian culture involves a different description of the world that modern psychiatric interventio…

Substantially Higher Part B Premiums in 2007 As Medicare Means Testing Starts For the first time in Medicare's history, millions of seniors will be required to pay substantially more for their Medicare Part B premiums than other seniors next year. In 2007 the government will begin "income relating," or means testing. Higher income seniors will have to pay more for their doctors' services and outpatient coverage. The change, which comes as part of the 2003 Medicare drug legislation, could affect as many as 2.3 million seniors according to estimates by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). To read …

With the illustrations in these references, you can check on the medical terminology about your body, that you don't understand. You have to dig a little, but there is a gold-mine of anatomical information here, that could allow you to rebut many of VAROs stupid contentions. There are 5 sections; 1.Muscular; 2.Cardiovascular; 3.Nervous; 4.Endocrine, Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary and Respiratory Systems; 5.Skeletal System The Table of Contents is about halfway down the page. Whether you go to the Alphabetical or By Region area, you have to page down past the written matter, to find the illustrations. Then click on the icon at the left margin, to vie…

I have a cpap machine and had been using a partial mask. The mask did not work and I called the VA respiratory department who had issued the machine. The tech ordered a nasual device that has worked great and I would recommend it to anyone who is struggling with the mask. The VAMC treated me right all I had to do was explain my situation and they took care of the problem. Jim Lane TDIU T&P

Good evening, I was visiting the Tax man today and he made several errors on my return. I became a little upset and the Old BP shot up like it usually does. I instantly developed a severe headache and had to go to see a doc. I called the Local VA and they were packed (3 to 4 hours to wait). I went to a place close to the house and they gave me a shot of torodol with Frenegren.. I sat for 20 minuites and went to the house. When I got home the Pain was subciding and after 10 min it was gone, OF course I still had the effects of the fenegren and went to sleep. Anyone who is in severe pain should try this medicine once. It cannot be prescribed. It is not a narcotic but…

I decided to ween(sp) myself off litium after the holidays. It has been almost a month and no more embarrasing "accidents!" No more shaking hands and my sense of balance seems to have improved! Of course I feel more irritable. But what's a little irritablity among friends? Liz
