Update On My Claims---
My claims- due to my recent letter to the VA OIG (as far as I know- they said it was a congressional matter- but I havent griped to my Congressman for years and the vet rep said the IG would be classified as Cong. matter) are in the director's office. I also had sent the director a letter telling her of my concerns and that I wrote to the IG- I am THRILLED! My concerns are how this VARO is not only treating my claims but how they are treating many many valid claims of veterans- I am still ticked off that a federal employee- a DRO-supposed to be a high level adjudicator- sent me a copy and paste decison in Sept, when the entire purpose of the DRO is for a de Novo (b…

Evaluating Computer Self-assessments In Patients With Severe Mental Illness
1006 — Evaluating Computer Self-Assessments In Patients With Severe Mental Illness Author List: Chinman MJ (VISN 22 MIRECC and RAND) Young AS (VISN 22 MIRECC and UCLA) Mintz J (VISN 22 MIRECC and UCLA) Shih S (VISN 22 MIRECC) Hassell J (VISN 22 MIRECC) Objectives: Usual care for severe mental illness (SMI) is often poor, yielding suboptimal outcomes. Improving care for this chronic illness has been difficult because routine data collection is rare and existing medical records contain little information regarding clinical needs in patients, such as symptoms or side-effects. Efficient collection of, and access to, this information is needed for evaluating an…

ptsd Aid And Attendance/homebound
hi all, Sorry this is so long! I am new to this forum but seems like there is a lot of information to be learned. I would appreciate any help or advice I can get here. First let me say I am the wife of a 100% P&T disabled vet. He is 100% for PTSD(bipolar). His condition is very severe not only mental but he also had a motorcycle wreck about 3 years ago which left his lungs permanently damaged and declining. He was awarded SSDI and then in august of this year he was given his 100% through the VA. He is now at the point that he requires ongoing care. I have talked to the VA both the social worker and his PCP they have both recommended the nursing home which is…

ptsd "my Healthevet"
Can anyone tell me what "My HealtheVet" is? I went to the vbn@ezboard.com and the guys were discussing how to get a copy of their c&p exam for ptsd and mentioned it. I went to Detroit for my c&p exam for ptsd in December 05. Also, how can I get a copy of my C-file-I mean, the recent filings in the file--I got a copy of the complete file last year but don't have any copies since then? If anyone on this board lives in Michigan and goes to either Saginaw or Detroit, I would like to communicate with them via email or landline also. Thanks for any info you can give me. This board has been very helpful in the past. wife of Farmall

Gwi Presumptive Question
Does Gulf War Illness have to be specifically stated by the Dr as the cause of illness/condition? I just sent his NOD for all the denials, but wanted to make sure I was right in what I sent. I thought that GWI is presumed as the cause if there is no underlying cause? & service in GW is documented. Am I wrong? My husband just got denied for conditions that are all listed under US 11/38 & has been trying to get treatment at VA since 2000. I do not believe any Dr actually said it was GWI, (waiting on rec's) they just ran lots of test (upper GI, colost, etc)never gave him a diagnosis of any of these problems. Decision Letter denied them all as non S/C , but th…

tinnitus Help With Math Please
I have studied the post on VA Math and I believe my new percentage is OK but if the experts would check my wife would feel better. DMII 20% Lower left leg neuropathy 20% Lower right leg neuropathy 20% Upper left arm neuropathy 10% Upper right arm neuropathy 10% Tinnitus 10% Total 70% I'm not sure where the bilaterial factor applies. All the neuropathy claims are bilaterial. I have a NOD pending on HBP as secondary to DMII. It has been a long battle that was won with the help of Y'all. A couple of years ago I could'nt begin to spell neuropathy. THANKS! Terry Sturgis
