Medication Coverage
I now get my prescriptions from my local VA but I also have coverage through Caremark from my civilian employer. I have been with the VA for a year and up until a couple months ago I never received a bill for my medication. I even called about six months ago and was told I didn't owe anything. A month ago I got a huge bill, for me, of $400.00 from the VA. My question? Will Caremark pick up any of this if I am required to pay this bill?

Jay Johnson--more Info About Va Respite Care Benefit
Jay, I found out more about respite care through the VA. The program is for the caregivers of "chronically ill veterans." First, the director of the program contacted me and gave me a list of contracted home health agencies. I talked to some of the people from each one and decided which one better suited us. (Of course, background checks of their employees are most important.) They will assist with daily living needs as a home health aide or homemaker. So light housekeeping is part of the program, if needed. I got a letter today telling me respite care is set up for 30 days per year, which can be inpatient (7 days at a time) or three-hour visits at home (each t…

ptsd Tracking New Claims?
Hi All, I am new here so please excuse dumb questions. I have been reading the posting and see that there are some very knowledgeable people, willing to share. 1. I am SC for PTSD since 1999. I put in for SC for tinnitus, Nov 2004. I put in for SC for back problems July, 2005. 2. I have received letters on the tinnitus, seems to be proceeding. 3. I have received nothing on the back claim, I have called the 800 tracking phone number and they do not see the back claim. 4. My American Legion VSO does not seem to think it is a problem. My question is, Is there a way my POA(American Legion) tracks these? How do I find out? Do t…

Where Do Va Doctors Come From?
22.6 National Interest Waivers for Physicians Serving in Medically Underserved Areas or at Department of Veterans Affairs Facilities. (a) General. (1) Background. On September 6, 2000, the Service published regulations (See 65 FR 53889) implementing the above noted 1999 amendment to the Act at section 203(:)(2). (The amendatory language was included in the Nursing Relief for Disadvantaged Areas Act of 1999, enacted on November 12, 1999.) This amendment codifies provisions mandating the granting of a national interest waiver to a second-preference medical doctor who commits to practice medicine for an aggregate of 5 years in a medically underserved a…

Filed Complaint For Bad C&p Exam (now No One Will Contact Me)
Greetings, I had an extremely bad C&P exam. I filed a formal complaint with the patients advocates office, and I I got was a form letter from the VA medical center. I felt as if no one cared so I shot off another letter to the Medical Center director demanding a meeting with him and the Chief Of Staff. I also enclosed in that letter a copy of a private IME that blasted the incompentence of the N.P that did the C&P exam. I have not heard one thing this has been over 1 month ago. I sent the RO all of my issues with the VA Medical Center. I went outside the VA medical center for the first time in 10 years to get an IME from Dr. Bash and a medication evul for t…

hypertension Retro Pay
Question anyone..... We filed a claim a few years ago for hypertension for my husband. He was denied. Basically the C & P examiner wouldn't state that the evidence we presented was enough to service connect him for this. Well, we refiled the claim again, based on our hearing with other claims at the BVA level. We brought up his hypertension and the BVA stated that we should get with the RO to have another review. This C & P exam he got stated that it was as least likely as not that his hypertension was due to his military service. We presented the same evidence as we did the first time we filed, but they denied it then. Now, all of a sudden with the same…

ptsd Strange Phone Call Last Night
About 530 pm the phone rang and it was someone named Steve and that he worked for Senator Larry Craig on the Senate VA Committee and that he was calling me to let me know that he was calling the VARO in reference to my letter to Senator Craig dated 22 Nov 05, it basically said that the statistics that shows it takes an average of 960 days to get a BVA appeal finished was ridiculous and that with the myriad of health problems I have I didn't think I was going to live that long, and that my wife and son deserved the benefits before I died, not years later. He was already mad about the lies the VARO told to VA in DC about my use as a human test subject, and after that I …

ptsd Filing For An Increase, Back Problems Please Look
I'm currently at 70%. 50% PTSD code 9411; 20% IVDS code 5243 (lower back); 10% IVDS Thoracic spine; 10% Tinnunitis code 6260; 10%Paralysis of Sciatic Nerve 8520. My pain and problems have much increased. The sciatic nerve is affected in both legs now, to where I'm also having nerve impingement to the right foot. This was documented in a Nerve conduction study. My original Paralsyis only affected my left outside thigh, but now has taken over my right and left legs, so an increase should definitely take me from 10% to at least40% which is Moderately severe instead of mild. I've got results from a Cervical MRI that I will be trying to service connect, which I've …

Bva Phone Number
I think it is in the appeals pamphlet-it is the BVA status number- one of my vets might have had an appeal filed there recently that he never signed- Oddly enough 2 different VARO employees by phone told him he succeeded in a claim I helped him with, then he got a denial letter-2 days later- then he went in to see his vet rep who said he got the blue rating decision and it said he was awarded the claim on the Blue rating decision. But the vet rep wouldnt give him a copy- Someone might have filed an I-9 for him-he didnt but the 800 says the claim is in Washington- the vet rep thinks it went to the BVA-(maybe he filed it ????) I am waiting his call but he is t…
