Can't Get A Hadit Reply?
Chuck75 responded to someone with this info. "A side note: Contributions to IRA's, 401Ks, etc. can impact your SSA earnings. So, the allowed increased contribution levels for those that are nearing retirement age, and happen to be at "decent" pay levels can impact SSA retirement payments." I asked for clarification and was not able to get any response. Not trying to hijack, but can you tell me/us more about how this IRA/401k thing affects SSA benefits? I have both... Any info out there on how a 401k form a past job or IRA's waitnig for me to turn 59 1/2 will/woould affect SSR/SSDI?

Ssd Follow-Up
Spoke with SSD yesterday and the agent told me that my claim was approved and is with the underwriter. My question is this, how likely would they lie over the phone. Also, he did tell me not to tell my lawyer because lawyers often call before hand and that will get him (ssd agent) in trouble. Is this likely... vet2010

" Your condition results in some limitations in your ability to perform work related activities. However, these limitations do not prevent you from performing work you hace done in the past as an Inspector/Surveyor, as normally performed in the national economy. We have determined that your condition is not severe enough to keep you from working. We considered the medical and other information, your age, education, training, and work experience in determining how your condition affects your ability to work. If your condition gets worse and keeps you from working write, call or visit any Social Security office about filing another application" First off, I worked a…

Ssa Options
My wife is getting ready to apply for SSA at age 62. I was talking to her about possibly delaying it to age 66 so she could get a larger survivor benefit if I croak before her. There are a lot of options with spouses collecting SSA. They can collect on spouses benefits or their own and can even buy back time on SSA if they collect early. If you collect at aqe 62 you could turn around and repay SSA at age 66 for 4 years and then reapply at age 66 and get the larger benefit with no penalty. I took SSD years ago. I understand if my wife waited until age 66 she could either collect on my benefits, or her own and it would be at least half of what I get which is more than she …

Based solely on my VA medical records for my service connected lumbar back problems. Date that disability Mar. 2009. Took about 2 months. No exam or other hassle. I was without internet access at the time of my award, or I would have thanked you all then. I was approaching the five year mark since my last employment. IF you guys hadn't gave me encouragement, I might have missed the deadline. Some tips I would give to others applying for SSDI benefits are these: 1. Obtain all your VA medical records ahead of time. The VA told Social security that i…
