Guidelines
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
- No Flaming (Negative comments about other members, other boards, or other sites.)
- No vulgar language
- No offensive verbal assaults
- No sexual connotations
- No personal attacks
- No political discussions we are not a political forum our focus is VA disability claims. Political discussions lead to flame wars, it takes up valuable space and is not what this board was set up for. There are many other boards to discuss politics, this is not one of them.
- No religious testimonials or discussions of one faith against another. There are other sites for this.
Please take a minute to read through this it will explain how to make posts that will get you answers.
Note: Your firsts posts on the board may be delayed before they show up, as they are reviewed, this process does not take long and the review requirement will be removed usually by the 6th post, though we reserve the right to keep anyone on moderator preview. This process allows us to remove spam and other junk posts before they hit the board. We want to keep the focus on VA Claims and this helps us do that.
I know you are anxious to jump into the forum, but these tips will help you get to it a lot faster.
Our Home Page has articles that may answer your question. Use the search box at the top of the page to find answers faster.
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
1. Post a clear title like 'Need help preparing PTSD claim' or "VA med center won't schedule my surgery" instead of 'I have a question'.
Knowledgable people who don't have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn't clear in the title.
I don't read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.
2. Use paragraphs instead of one huge, rambling introduction or story.
Again - You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.
Leading to:
3. Post clear questions and then give background info on them.
Example is:
A. I was previously denied for apnea - Should I refile a claim?
I was diagnosed with apnea in service and recived a CPAP machine but claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?
B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
I was involved in traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?
Do Not Argue With The Moderators. If a moderator tells you to stop doing something then stop, if you are unable to stop yourself, your account will be deleted. Moderators are in place to keep the forum running smoothly, what they say goes.

Everyone won't agree on many things, but the one thing we should agree on is that we are here so that no brother or sister veteran gets left behind, not on a jungle trail, not on a desert trail and not on a paper trail." Tbird
The biggest component of HadIt.com to help veterans is our very active discussion forum. Over 7500 (as of March 2011) registered users, with an average of about 200 posts per day. New Registrations average about 200 members per month.
Please note that the discussion forum is made up of veterans just like you, they come to HadIt.com and its discussion forum from all over the world. Some come to ask questions, some come to help do research for other vets, some to answer questions, others come for the sense of community that HadIt.com provides and still others come just to provide an ear and shoulder to those veterans who have become weary.
There are some folks who for whatever reason sign on to discussion forums to cause disruption. However, we still have this problem the best advice is ignore them; they want a fight, a response, don't give it to them. We have an ignore user feature, you can look up any member by name and click to ignore them.
New members posts are moderated and not visible to all members until the staff can review a few posts to make sure it is not a spammer, troll or some other divisive individual.
HadIt.com's discussion forum is "User Friendly" as long as posters do not cause division. We are not into censorship. We simply need to set forth some guidelines. These are aimed at maintaining harmony on the Web Forum.. When one person disrupts many then we feel it's time to take action.
Remember that most that come to our discussion forum have been wounded in one way or another. Be kind to each other, if angered take a day to respond. Personal attacks are not what we are about; we are about helping our brother and sister veterans.

ptsd Financial Hardship Claim Question
Im new here to Hadit. Im was living in Jacksonville NC until I lost my home and then was evicted from my apartment because my job would not let me return until my panic attacks are more under control. So i filed for financial hardship and they began expediting my claim with Winston-Salem RO. Being that me and my daughter became homeless they moved my claim to Columbia SC RO bc I changed my address slowing my claim but as soon as it was received it went straigt to decision because my claim was ready to rate before RO sent it Columbia RO. I filed my claim n 11/21/2010 and on 04/20/2011 it went into decision phase.... My question is since my claim is flagged for hardship, ab…

Va Docs & Disability Statements
i had to get an IME which turned out to be just and in my favor. but i would like to know this, and this question may be in the wrong topic area: i have a SS claim in and no VA doctor will write a statement regarding my condition. they wouldn't write a note to a temp job last year when i attempted a few weeks of work. i am getting a monthly check from SSD, but SSD wrote i wasn't to get retro due to my MS and spinal diseases didn't start until a year ago. i got the IME and got service connected and recently had another C&P and that doc said i was 100% disabled and can no longer work. said he was going to write that in his report --- we'll see. so, my que…

Suggestions For Imo
Hi All, We are headed to MD to see the leading doctor for ARVD (Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia) at the end of the month, and he is going to write an IMO in support of our claim to the VA. My husband had palpitations while in the Army but they were never documented in his SMRs. He was honorably discharged October 15, 2009 with 30% disability but none of it was heart related. In December 2009, he had an EKG done that said he had an abnormal heart rhythm that left room for concern. We went to a cardiologist in May of 2010 and they wrote it off as something insignificant after doing another EKG, a holster monitor for 24 hours, and an echo. Then Septemb…

Vet Rep Is Gone
I just called the Oregon vet affairs office after not hearing from my rep for several months. I have had a request for reconsideration pending since August with an IMO, new evidence including two determinations of disability by different state agencies and a psyche test done by one of them which was what the IMO doc (themselves a former VA examiner) used as the basis of their opinion on top of my active duty records, which had substantial helpful info. I just learned my rep is gone, my case has been reassigned to someone else "based on the last 2 of my ssn" (in other words randomly) and it will take them over a week just to request my file. I was told that the VA r…

Imo Question
I recently submitted my claim for the first time and I already have two letters from my doctors linking my current injuries to my accident in the military. I tend to worry about things, and I am already forming a game plan just in case they deny my claim the first time. I am looking to get more letters completed by doctors. My current letters are written by doctors that currently treat me, I was wondering how you go about finding other doctors to review your medical file and write a letter. Would I just research doctors in my areas that specialize in my medical conditions and then call up their office and ask if they can review my file/write a leter, or do only c…

Incompetency
I am a care giver for a veteran who is 76 yrs. old. He had a stroke several years ago and also has copd. He has been awarded 100 percent service connected disability in addition to special compensation of aid and attendance. Since his interview for aid and attendance; he was claimed incompetent, for his finances. I am trying to find out any information I can on how he can have that claim reversed. What Docter's he would need to see and what tests they give him. I am also trying to research the fiduciary program; regarding what bills and allowances they will pay for him. I am told that they decide a salary for me as his caregiver 7 days a week; 24hrs. a day. I …

Fiduciary Information
Hi, Yesterday I was appointed as fiduciary for my grandfather who has slight dementia. Although things were working fine the way the have always been the va decided that this needs to be more legal than a poa. So, they appointed me fiduciary. My only issue with this is that they say I am not allowed to make cash withdrawls at all. How do I give him his spending money now? I normally make sure that he has about 40 dollars or so in his wallet at all times for spending money. All of the rest of the bills I always pay. I do his shopping, and ect.. Also, since I do accounting work, he asks me to be a fiduciary for other veterans who don't have family. While, I believe this wa…

Imo Before Or After Nod
I'm thinking about borrowing some cash to hire an IMO/IME Dr' for my upcomeing claim for back and neck injuries caused by my gait from SC knee. My question would be, since it is alot of money for one, would it be better to wait if the claim is denied, or get one off the bat. The reason I ask this, is I been reading alot of BVA claims and some were denied due to the IMO Dr didn't exam the Vet to dispute the C&P findings.

Imo - Incompetency
My private doctor has agreed to see my husband and write the IMO to contest the incompetency proposal from the VA. Before we head in there, I'm just wondering if there is a format or special wording the letter needs to have? I thought I had seen a sample letter before, but I can't seem to find it now. Thanks in advance for any help/advice!!

Purpose Of Imo For Widow Case
Hi Everyone I had my IMO redone by the doctor just to make sure I had enough evidence pointing to this particular medicine which caused my husband death. He did an IMO which I though was good, but I wanted him to add just a little bit more of supporting evidence. In his PURPOSE , he has the following and my question is --I saw where the board can not turn a doctor down because they have not read the C-file, (the new law) but my question is should I try to include it. I did not give him the c-file, but there was not really anything in there except the initial application, birth certificates, death certificates and marriage license. I gave him everything that they se…
