Guidelines
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
- No Flaming (Negative comments about other members, other boards, or other sites.)
- No vulgar language
- No offensive verbal assaults
- No sexual connotations
- No personal attacks
- No political discussions we are not a political forum our focus is VA disability claims. Political discussions lead to flame wars, it takes up valuable space and is not what this board was set up for. There are many other boards to discuss politics, this is not one of them.
- No religious testimonials or discussions of one faith against another. There are other sites for this.
Please take a minute to read through this it will explain how to make posts that will get you answers.
Note: Your firsts posts on the board may be delayed before they show up, as they are reviewed, this process does not take long and the review requirement will be removed usually by the 6th post, though we reserve the right to keep anyone on moderator preview. This process allows us to remove spam and other junk posts before they hit the board. We want to keep the focus on VA Claims and this helps us do that.
I know you are anxious to jump into the forum, but these tips will help you get to it a lot faster.
Our Home Page has articles that may answer your question. Use the search box at the top of the page to find answers faster.
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
1. Post a clear title like 'Need help preparing PTSD claim' or "VA med center won't schedule my surgery" instead of 'I have a question'.
Knowledgable people who don't have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn't clear in the title.
I don't read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.
2. Use paragraphs instead of one huge, rambling introduction or story.
Again - You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.
Leading to:
3. Post clear questions and then give background info on them.
Example is:
A. I was previously denied for apnea - Should I refile a claim?
I was diagnosed with apnea in service and recived a CPAP machine but claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?
B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
I was involved in traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?
Do Not Argue With The Moderators. If a moderator tells you to stop doing something then stop, if you are unable to stop yourself, your account will be deleted. Moderators are in place to keep the forum running smoothly, what they say goes.

Everyone won't agree on many things, but the one thing we should agree on is that we are here so that no brother or sister veteran gets left behind, not on a jungle trail, not on a desert trail and not on a paper trail." Tbird
The biggest component of HadIt.com to help veterans is our very active discussion forum. Over 7500 (as of March 2011) registered users, with an average of about 200 posts per day. New Registrations average about 200 members per month.
Please note that the discussion forum is made up of veterans just like you, they come to HadIt.com and its discussion forum from all over the world. Some come to ask questions, some come to help do research for other vets, some to answer questions, others come for the sense of community that HadIt.com provides and still others come just to provide an ear and shoulder to those veterans who have become weary.
There are some folks who for whatever reason sign on to discussion forums to cause disruption. However, we still have this problem the best advice is ignore them; they want a fight, a response, don't give it to them. We have an ignore user feature, you can look up any member by name and click to ignore them.
New members posts are moderated and not visible to all members until the staff can review a few posts to make sure it is not a spammer, troll or some other divisive individual.
HadIt.com's discussion forum is "User Friendly" as long as posters do not cause division. We are not into censorship. We simply need to set forth some guidelines. These are aimed at maintaining harmony on the Web Forum.. When one person disrupts many then we feel it's time to take action.
Remember that most that come to our discussion forum have been wounded in one way or another. Be kind to each other, if angered take a day to respond. Personal attacks are not what we are about; we are about helping our brother and sister veterans.

Just Filed Imo With Vet Rep
I just had an IMO by a psych who is themselves a former VA examiner filed with my vet rep. This was based on a review of active duty records, past six years of VA records, and testing done by a psychologist. I also have additional documentation of a current disability beyond what was available at the C&P. I already have an appeal pending of an NOD that was handed down in April for a C&P exam from February. Does this change the dynamics of the appeal process? Do I still have to wait out getting a hearing on the appeal or does the IMO change anything?

A Word Of Caution
An IMO doctor needs all available medical records, and in most cases copies of C & P wxams, and in some cases the entire SMRs of the veteran. Althogh VA has been accused in the past of "doctor shopping" -we old timers called those attempts "fishing expeditions" in the veterans commmunity , and sometimes the VA still seems to do that- a veteran or widow of veteran should NEVER play that game. The attorney's at the BVA are smart and will pick up on anything that does not seem kosher. In this case it appears that either the widow gave the IMO doctor the wrong info or did not give the doctor the medical records that he/she needed.I saw one potential possibilit…

Please Help -Widow Applying For Dic-Imo Question
Good Morning Please let me know your opinion. The doctor pretty much followed Ms. Berta's outline for IMOs'. I just have a few questions. Here is some of the IMO. I think he did pretty good--I am just concerned with the below. Mr. _____ was in a prothrombotic state at the time of his death. The laboratory evaluation revealed a diagnosis of one of the antiphospholipid antibody syndromes, "as likely as not" due to his inservice treatment with (INH) as a treatment for a conversion to a positive TB skin test. This would be classified as an acquired hypercoagulable state. It is possible that the veteran also had an occult hereditary thrombophilia. It is my opinio…

Weight Of An Imo
I'm in a situation where over the years I have been evaluated by different doctors, some VA, some mine some contracted by the VA. Well, now I have this problem that I disagree with the date the VA said I became 100% disabled. So if I get an IMO, will the opinion have more weight in front of a board than old medical reports? Anybody got any clues? Callie B)

ptsd Nexus Letter
Hi folks, I asked my Dr for a nexus letter. He complied. So I thought. He made a note in my chart, that I have forwarded to my VSO. In the section of my notes under "History of Present Illness" the Dr noted... "Patient reports that OSA symptoms began while he was in active military service, while serving in the Army. He believes that his symptoms were present, but were at the time attributed to PTSD and depression. I HAVE REVIEWED SEVERAL SERVICE MEDICAL RECORDS THAT ALLUDE TO SLEEPINESS AND UNREFRESHING SLEEP AT THAT TIME." Then in the assessment portion of my chart he wrote. "I beleive it is as likely as not the pt had sleep apnea while he was in th…

Got An Imo Locally
Howdy all. I found a doctor that gave me a 'more likely than not' on connecting my arthritis to my sc conditions (flat feet and ankle injury). I gave the good Dr. a copy of Strickland's sample letter and he tried to follow it but he didn't get it right in detail. I had fore warned him that VA was fussy as all get out and he told me to let him know if it needed altered so there's no problem on that end. He gave me three lightly filled pages with information scattered about and omitted a lot of detail, providing mainly broad statements/impressions. Too, I hadn't brought the full battery of my records since at this first visit, I hadn't actually expected the letter.…

Requirements For Reporting To Va
I am a DAV on PDRL with 60%. I have been retired since '96 and have had med treatment (incl surgeries) for my disability at civ hospitals/doctors, but nothing at a VA Med facility. Does anyone know if I am supposed to report my treatment to the VA? Does the VA need to have copies of all my treatment/surgeries? Thanks with all respects.
