  1. If you have evidence that one of you physical problems is SC then file a claim. In the meantime, you would want to get an IMO/IME from private doctor to bolster that claim. You should not depend on the VA for medical evidence.
  2. I am still trying to find a mask I can tolerate so best to get started with your OSA treatments now. My o2 sat dropped to 70% on the last test. I am worried and getting poor treatment from VA and private.
  3. It sounds like 50% to me, but it could be 30%. If I got rated 30% I would appeal it. Are any of your physical problems service related? John
  4. I see TDIU or 100% in your future. The exam doctor said "total social and occupational disability" which is 100%. Now raters have to decide since the doctor does not decide these things but either 70% and TDIU or 100% is my guess. I see the exam for PTSD is very detailed with a hell of a checklist. John
  5. Just tell your doctor to answer the questions completely. OPM is just medical. You just have to show with medical evidence you can't do your federal job any more.
  6. If you foot problem makes you feel depressed file another claim for depression, but wait until you get your rating.
  7. The "Stay in treatment" statement is so true. Since I started to get treatment for my single SC disability in the late 90's and have been SC'ed for 5 other SC conditions and it has added to my compensation level. Also, it is a good insurance policy if the VA goes on an expeditian one day to cut compensation. If you have been in constant treatment for your condition at the VA and have ten years worth of treatment records it will be hard to dismiss your claimed compensation unless you truly get better over time. John
  8. Contact your lawyer!!! If you simply say you disagree with the rating decision made on such and such a date that is enough for a NOD. You don't have to be specific. It is good to be specific but not necessary. If it were me and the lawyer was unavailable I would just disagree with every issue that you raised in your claim that was denied, granted or not mentioned by the VA.
  9. Why can't we get private doctors to do the nexus btween mental disorder and apena? My PCP will never make that leap, but I bet Dr. Bash will.
  10. I would think any injury that is SC that limits your mobility would help aggravate or cause obesity. Everyone knows being fat is a risk factor for DMII and CAD, but what about these conditions causing you to become fat? Is it just a one way relationship?
  11. Veldrina Have you ever seem a case where a vet gets OSA or complex SA secondary to DMII? I have DmII and CAD and I know the OSA is putting me at risk with the CAD. I did not have OSA in service as far as I know. If a NSC condition makes a SC condition worse how does that work out?
  12. Even the VA can't simply cancell an appeal. They can screw it up, deny it and delay it, but they cannot cancell it. If you have proof you filed your appeal I would go to the VARO and ask them about it.
  13. What do you plan to go to school for in the Fall? Getting a good education would be the best investment of all.
  14. If you think about it ,Papa, if your PTSD caused overeating, and if overeating causes DMII, or any other disease associated with obesity there is a connection running through all these disabilites. Vync I have given up Twinkies for deep fried peanut and jelly sandwiches. Being fat and having fat related chronic disease is the American way. I bet 75% of vets I see at VAMC are obese to some extent. Mostly Vietnam Era vets at my VA Hospital anyway.
  15. How in the world is an adult supposed to survive on SSDI. I couldn't do it. The vet in question is on SSDI and his wife had to quit her job to take care of him. She is not old enough to get SSA. They are both living on his SSDI. John
  16. How does the VA treat obesity? I know they sent me to the dietitian at the VA who told me to put equal in my coffee and to cut out fatty foods....duh. We all know what we should not eat, but if you are not young any more and have problems with mobility there has to be something else. The VA uses obesity as a weapon to beat vets over the head with and blame all their problems on will power. I was a thin younger adult and when I got stove in I gained some weight and became clinically obese. John
  17. If a married vet's only income is SSDI can that vet also get the NSC pension from the VA. This friend of a friend is a Vietnam Era vet who did not serve in Nam, but has Parkinson's. He is trying to prove he was exposed to AO but I know that is a long shot. He was on Okinawa. John
  18. I went to a vet center and they gave me a letter saying I had PTSD, chronic, severe with a poor outlook for future. This was back in 2001. The VA did not even consider this when I was going for TDIU. They did consider the report of my private psychiatrist and psychologist. The best thing is to get a PTSD DX from a VA psychiatrist nowdays. I think I had enough evidence to get 100% three times over, and I just got 70%. You can go to the vet center for talk and go to the VA shrink for DX and pills. Get a script from the VA for depression, anxiety etc. You can throw them away if you want but get it on record that you were prescribed. I think the way they do it now at PTSD C&P exam is they have a check list. If you don't have most of the symptoms on the check list then you don't have PTSD according to the VA. The VA has turned treatment and compensation for PTSD into a game and you have to play it their way. John
