  1. Not sure exactly where to post this... Because we live 200 miles from the nearest VA hospital, last year my husband received his annual eye exam and a pair of eyeglasses through a fee based outside physician in our town. It worked very well. This year he was told he would have to go through the Choice Card program. After about 10 phone calls over the course of 3 months, he finally received an approval for an eye exam including "refractory" which determines the prescription. After the exam and going into the optician part of the office, he was told that the approval was just for the exam, not for glasses, even though the approval was to check what eyeglasses he needed, but not to give you the eyeglasses!. The office said they have had nothing but problems with the Choice Card "approvals" and were told that the Choice Program is not for eyeglasses. And indeed, I discovered " Eyeglasses are not covered under the Veterans Choice Program-`must use regular VA services". Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do about it? Once again, it seems like the VA has taken a program that actually worked and eviscerated it.

Call your VA and speak to the NonVa care department. Tell them they didn't upload the correct item on the card as the exam was only covered and not the eyeglasses. According to my source they need to upload the correct items to the card.

  2. SMC S or Statutory housebound requirements one condition ratable as 100 percent or total as in IU. Then another single or combination of disabilities that add up to 60 percent. Or be actually physically housebound.

The math on your issues add up ti almost 98 percent rounded up to your 100 percent.

  3. Mike Sasser was my friend. Mike was the ultimate perfectionist as he would take every radio show and spend hours reformatting and uploading to Hadit. He sent me all archived shows. He was also a very creative thinker whose ideas were always productive. He was an engineer, a designer as he had several businesses in California when he lived there. He could flat out rake on a guitar and I always enjoyed him playing. He was a farmer who raised cattle. He was a father, Husband and family man. Most of all he was a true advocate for disabled veterans and even on days when he was hospitalized he always found the time to tell another vet about Hadit.

Being on a website, we don't often get to meet our friends face to face but I can say I am proud to have met Stretch. Rest in peace my friend.

Funeral arrangements are pending and we will pass them on as soon as we can.

  4. Right now Louisville doesn't look to good. 335 days is too long. Did you receive a statement of case from them?

I know Louisville has had some claims from other regional offices sent to them so they may be a little in over their heads.

The best RO. I can say as of today is Huntington West Virginia.
