This does not fit the forums but want to let all veterans aware of this issue. I had to get a rental car from Enterprise car rental in Mattoon, Illinois while mine was repaired following an accident. I have a Service dog for my PTSD. I picked up the vehicle with my SD with no issues however when I returned the vehicle (cleaner then when I got it) the man was threatening to charge me extra for having a pet in the car. I explained to him that the the animal was a service dog and he stated that it did not matter because other customers might be allergic. After several go around a with him I walked out. so if you have s service animal do not rent from Enterprise or you will be charged extra.

    Dear Enterprise Rent a Car.
Recently I rented a car at your Mottoon Il location.
The experience was quite sour with a bad ending.

Your company is named after a great ship. The USS Enterprise was the most decorated ship in World War II. Your founder served aboad the Big E as we veterans call her.

I am a diabled veteran who is required by my service connected disability to use a service dog. This dog is an extension of myself.

I have been completely disrespected by a staff member at that location. The man was threatening charging me extra for having my service animal in the car. That behavior is not even acceptable.

What is your actual policy pertaining to service animals? I need this information so I can advise other disabled veterans who rely on service dogs about this policy as I see it.Discrimination against veterans and their service dogs is not a very well thought plan of business especially in retail car rental.  Please advise what your policy is regarding Veterans Service Animals. I have a few thousand folks on a couple of veteran web sites waiting to hear your answer.

  2. Thanks everyone

I am going to work my claim myself along with hadit members help...I am pretty sure what to do,however I don't have a ebenfits account  only my healthvet  I always did my claim through the snail mail  with return receipts back in the old days...I am not sure I trust ebenfits account to many people can access it

Jbasser  I called  attorney  Matthew Hill  Law Firm from Florida  and they said I needed a denial before I can hire them.?

    just my crazy opinion

    ..............Buck

Buck you don't have to have a denial, You just have to have a decision you disagree with.

    Hang in there.

  3. There are 2 classifications of housebound. One is statutory housebound with a total plus 60 percent rating.

The second one is to be physically housebound by reason of your service connected disabilities.

  4. You have a denial who are you using as a rep. John Dorle just busted their back on a claim but it had to go to the BVA.

That is your next option. BVA. The Ro at Louisville is a real piece of work. Look at you and smile while twisting the knife.

Since your in appeal, I would sign on Dorle and fire whomever you have. They obviously suck at their job.

He has some good contacts at the Louisville RO.

  5. In my opinion, This was courtesy of your local Service Orgs. They made her the focus of a witch hunt. It was plain wrong. She was helpful to veterans. She helped my Grandfather get his benefits not too long ago.

Its time we put these VSO's (Vermin Shady Operators)  out of business. All they do is a little paperwork, Beat their chest if they get you 10 percent, if they don't totally screw up your claim like they did mine, then flood your mailbox asking you to sign your life insurance over to them, What a Scam.,

We need better, We can do better and we have better.

  6. SSDI automatically changes you to regular SSA once you reach retirement age. The SSDI rate is the rate you would normally receive without the offset which is added if you elect to draw SSA at 62.

Now if you were denied but have proof you were 100 percent disabled, You may have an option to go back to get your SSDI approved. If your VA effective date is as old or older that your last SSDI denial.

Only an good attorney can advise you.

  7. Today, we buried my last surviving grandparent.  He was 91 years old. He was a WW2 veteran. I did not get much sleep as I reminisced about his life. He was always a very imposing figure in my life, tall, witty.and most of all he was blessed with a heart of gold. He restored a century old clock and gave it to me. He was an avid fisherman and loved Lake Cumberland. I inherited that love of Lake Cumberland and have fished it numerous times. He is buried at the head of my favorite creek just before it runs into the lake.

A few years ago, I visited him and I knew he had a VA claim in as he was medically discharged from the Army in 1945.

He had fought the VA all those years with the VA treating him like a Yo-Yo.

It took us over 3 years to get his VA claim straightened out. We did do that just a couple of weeks ago. I somehow believe he hung on just to get that security for his wife so she would not have to worry about the future.

It is just wrong to do this to our veterans, especially the WW2 vets.  They are the only reason we have what we have today.

It doesn't matter how old a veteran is, It is our duty to ensure they have received every benefit they deserve.

  8. After re reading your post, Do me a favor and call Alicia Guidi at Bergmann Moore.(877) 838-2889 The are working on some issues like your husbands. Tell Her John From the Hadit Radio Show told you to call. The VA is lowballing veterans who have TBI ratings to get out of paying the correct Sopecial Monthly Compensation.

  9. NOD the decision. Ask for reconsideration and send the SSA decision to the VA.

This may help. You may want to bring in an attorney.

Was his SSA award based on PTSD or all of his SC disabilities.

This is likely a delay tactic on behalf of the Regional Office.  They seem to do this a lot.

You may want to also consider emailing Allison Hickey and ask her for her assistance.

For some reason the Big Veterans Service Organizations are trying to oust her again. She must be doing something that offends these orgs.
