I did the program for 5 or 6 sessions and then i couldn't deal with it anymore. I had to quit . They get you to sign a contract stating you will give it your all and not stop. I had ( still am 18 months sober ) stopped drinking , i can't remember how many times i struggled with the drink while in this program . I was doing really well with not drinking before it. I had always used it as a crutch , so i wanted to fall back on it. Prolonged exposure works really well with things like OCD . I know it does because i went to the famous Menninger clinic and was treated with prolonged exposure therapy and it did help alot. My Dr's there also told me it will never go away, it will always be a struggle . Hope this helps . Semper Fi Sgt Sandman

I'm now a sensitive 7 . WoW. Called today to check on my appeal status. Told me the file was secured and a supervisor would have to call me back. About 1 1/2 hrs later he did. Told me i was a sensitive 7 now. I still got all the info i needed from him. My appeal was certified and sent off last week to BVA. Asked him how i became a 7 , he said there are many reasons why. Working for Va or a family member does, hostile at The VA or someone trying to gain unauthorized access to claim were just a few of his what if's. Well i have none of those issues , so i called my attorney and they said they routinely put a seven on claims he's working on. So is that good or not i don't know. I was at my Dr's today and she looked in the computer and said there is nothing in there to suggest any type of special handling of me . That makes me feel it's all about the attorney being hired. Just my experience. Sgt

My psych Dr wrote me a letter and faxed it in .Called the next day to check and she said i would not have to serve now or later. Sgt Sandman

Saw where there are two Regional offices offering walkin claims processing.Thought this maybe something to try , with my ED due to PTSD meds .Have medical nexus letter from DR at VA . Also show i have been on these meds for almost a yr , prescribed by VA. Anybody else use this service yet. Any thoughts or comments appreciated. Sgt Sandman

westcoatlv, First welcome to the board , secondly please listen to the advice given here. We are here to help guide you . You say your husband has a hard time opening up , nows not the time to be a tough guy . As people have stated let it all hang out at the Dr 's office . He's got to open up and let them know how bad it is. His rating depends on telling it like it is . Do not lie, tell the truth if he's jacked up tell them about his absolute worst time . Any physical altercations , arrest . He's got to tell them . There not mind readers , hell they (VA ) can't read sometimes period. From experience a combat action ribbon or cab will not get you an automatic 70 % . Also his GAF of 65 is not that high . Although it is only part of the decision (GAF) . He must see his DR'S regularly and start getting everything noted in progress reports. Usually when the claim is filed , you give copies of Marriage cert and birth certs for the dependant part. That will all get sorted out, you need to get SC first . Good luck to you ! Also check out the C&P exam worksheet for PTSD that is on this site . Then you can go in prepared.

While researching my attorney i came across these videos. Go to BLINKX.COM and enter Ken Carpenter and they should show up on the main page. This was from a training class he was giving . Pretty insightful and easy to understand. They are about 1 hr each in length.

At the end of my psychiatrist progress notes there are theses scores pcl-m 58 pcl-s 68 (severe) and then Becks Depression Inventory II - 42. Is there a breakdown to these scores are they similar to a GAF score ?????? Thanks for the help . Sgt Sandman

Awhile ago Tbird posted about an easier way to scan to the board . I cannot find the post . I did some scanning to a post today and it was from Word. You have to download the scan to see it . I was wondering how you scan it so you can see it at the bottom of the post and just click it and it comes up. Any suggestions or help ? Sgt

BERTA, I have in my records from ROI for that time frame 20 appts for mental health at the VA . This new attachment was in response to there employment questions they sent me. I copied them verbatim and sent it certified sig required . Which they got. Keep the questions coming. Thanks Sgt

Sorry Pete53 no cure for dumba$$itis yet. My father tried several times with me ( kick in the backside ) so we know the VA is incurable . Sgt

This is my denial for my Nod . Hopefully you can read the crossed out parts, i tried to lighten as best i could. My VSO highligthed them during our meeting and it shows blacked out when copying. I had a great c&p , so i thought and so did my Dr at VA and my VSO. Please ask any questions or post suggestions . We were going back to them for a 70 % rating or higher and also asked for TDIU which was also denied . I will scan and post that decision soon. They contradict themselves on a few points . One being they show i was hospitalized, then a paragraph later they say they don't see it being severe enough that it has warranted a hospitalization. I could post my C & P but it is close to 20 pages. Thanks for all your time and help !

Finally , i was able to provide some useful advice here ( call and ask your percentage ). I did that when i was told my decision was final , The guy said ah good try you almost got me. So i told him to fax me and he did. Not the result i wanted but atleast i didn't have to wait. They only sent the cover page and decision , not the reasons or evidence section by fax. He said they have to wait five days after it's been finalized before they give out info over phone.Just my experience . Sgt
