  1. Hi,

I'm new on this forum and very clunky in navigating around the topics....I have posted questions and do not get any responses.  Not sure what I am doing wrong.  I have questions on how to file a claim for MST.

I know I can call the VA and ask questions on what they need to file or a local Vet center, but wondering where can I get the best advice and resources once I make the call.  Does Hadit have a 1800 number to get advice...if not where do you recommend I start?

    Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much if you could forward me some of the posts from the MST vet you mentioned.

I do not have an E-benefit Account (I do not know what that is??)

Do you know if your personal assets are considered when getting benefits (not that I have a lot, but just curious...

Do you know if you receive SSD (soc. sec. for non service related medical conditions) if that has any impact on receiving approval for a service related claim?

Ok, I will file today to get it started since you pointed out you don't have to complete it at the same time you file.

If I understand correctly it's the PTSD that benefits are issued for not the "MST" on it's own.  So I am not filing for the MST I am filing for the PTSD?  I also have depression and anxiety for the MST so would I list those along with the PTSD?

Probably after reading this you will suggest I call someone huh...

Thanks for taking time to respond.

No, your good to go, with just what you have already.

Go on the VA.gov website. there will be a link to online Comp Claims Filing, VONAPP. When it opens, you have to click on the right button, "New User." Then just answer the questions to the best of your ability, you don't have to complete and submit the Claim TODAY.

Just starting this VONAPP Claim, establishes your Intent to File a Comp Claim and a File Date. I believe you have 12 months, just like on E-Ben, to complete and hit the Submit Button.

SOOOO, get the VONAPP started today, no reason not too.

Google MST Marker Evidence for a later discussion.

I could be wrong about VONAPP, looks like it's for Pension Claims.

Looks like you have 2 choices to get it filed before 05/01.

      1.  Download a 21-526EZ, complete and mail it at a Main Post Office location, get a receipt as proof of the mailing date.

      2. Access the E-Benefits website via VA.gov. Attempt to establish your New Account. Then Start the Comp App.

The following are the (2) Michigan MST Trauma Coordinators listed by the VA. Jennifer.Homan@VA.gov and Kimberly.Sendi@VA.gov. Send both an Email discussing your intent to file an MST Claim. See what they have to say.

As to your question regarding Income and Comp. Income has no effect on your Comp Claim unless filing for IU (Individual Unemployability). If your SC Rating came back under 30 or? 50%, income may affect your VMC medical Co-pays.
