C & P Med Exam Not By Dr. But Nurse Practitioner

Question

Have any other vets had their medical C & P exams done by nurse practitioners versus Dr.? Mine was and there were so many errors and descripencies in the exam..she lied and I called her up 2x and she said "she didn't write that and they must have gotten records mixed up" yeah sure than why didn't she correct them!

Turned her into pt advocate and found out she was fired from doing C & P exams but moved to an undisclosed area of the hosp to work. FOIA officer said it took her 3 days to find the nurse pract in the hosp and she said "it was in 2005 I don't remember!"

SO I sit and wait for my dear BVA to proceed.

2 medical physician IMO's done but they believe the va's nurse pract. Funny how they did not have all the information I told in my personal hearing about her and the faulty exam on my trancripts! Anything I said about the va exams, providers, etc. were not on the transcript at all.

Have any others had similiar experiences they are fighting with because of non Dr exams? There is so much more I could write but I would like to hear if others have had this occur to them, and their advice or actions that may have helped them in their battle. :P

I did turn in 2 IMO's already by physicians and they denied them...so that is why I said well maybe if I get a nurse pract. IMO to dispute THEIR NP maybe then they will grant.

Sorry but you beat me to it I like to be the sarcastic one, I to took 2 IMO from DR's. and both Specialist were beat down by a half ass NP, my be if got NP to do my treatment they may have carried some weight, lol. And this happened with both C&P's I personally took them in to the C&P examiners. I seen my c-file at the R.O and it was a crap bomb. But you are spot on, its absolute BS a NP carry more weight than 2 or 3 very well qualified Dr's that have even treated you with constant treatment over years.

My God, I could not imagine what my claim would look like if I didn't having my IMO's from these private Doctors treating me, and had to deal with the VA directly it would be a crap shoot and you see them 5 or 6 times a year and veg at best most of the time where I see my current doctor's monthly and it makes you wonder how in the world the VA can justify disregarding this when I have seen a Dr routinely for years and a C&P from a NP for 20 MIN 1 time in my life, undoes it all.... Amazing My advice is make sure your IMO are by very well train Dr.Spcialist to give you IMO some wieght!

Yoggie2, Am seeing IMO tomorrow, was to see him today but his office said he hurt his back today but appt changed to tomorrow. Funny how it took me 2 1/2 weeks to get appt but he can switch me to tomorrow, or rather his staff can.

He is one of them I had seen prior, and am going to give him a form copy Berta listed to go by. So here we go again...

Saw DR 2 weeks ago and he was angry the VA allowed nurse pract over his evaluation/exam. So I told him what we needed to do to rectify the situation and he said look up and figure out whatever you think I need to cover and we will go from there. So I still cannot figure out how to put the copies of my denial on this forum. I did copy it to my desktop but cannot seem to figure out how to forward it here. Was trying to find other site where info was passed to do it but ? where it is.

It is always about cost when dealing with the VA. I had a PA do a cardiac exam. The VA can't afford a cardiologist to do a heart exam? I will get my own caridologist.

There is a stipulation that a cardiac exam or diagnosis of a cardiac issue must be made by a board certified cardiologist.

That automatically diaqualifies any NP from this issue. The BVA will kick this one back when it gets there.

I will look it up and post it for you when I find it.

A Veteran is a person who served this country. Treat them with respect.

A Disabled Veteran is a person who served this country and bears the scars of that service regardless of when or where they served.

Treat them with the upmost respect. I do. Rejection is not a sign of failure. Failure is not an option, Medical opinions and evidence wins claims. Trust in others is a virtue but you take the T out of Trust and you are left with Rust so be wise about who you are dealing with.

John999,

This is too dangerous. Sounds like they are trying to pull a "MARION" here. Cut costs and ignore what the vet truely needs. I would find a cardiologist elsewhere too. You have to keep your ticker working and if care is not there you are in jeopardy allowing others not qualified to assist you.
