Question

OK... rec'd award increase in Feb. 2011 to 80%, filed for TDIU pronto. Eights months later... Last night I noticed on eBenefits that the claim for TDIU (listed as Eligibility Determination Claim) was closed. This morning I called "Peggy", no help... called VSO, no help... has anyone seen this before?

I would just wait and check your mailbox and your bank account daily. Both the 800# and e-benefits are totally worthless. Please be patient as one hand is failing to communicate with the other. I have had a claim in final stages for 28 days, claim has a decision, however I need to wait for the next full moon, or see what happens after my next 3 week vacation next week. Our claims are in a big black hole and no telling when they will come out.

The VA is a black box. We don't know what goes on inside. If good data goes in one end you hope that a good conclusion comes out the other, but you can never know for sure until you get that decision in your hand. About ten years ago I had a claim in for an increase. I called the VA and asked about progress. I was told my claim was at the front office and that I had a big retro. What happened was I got a letter saying my increase was denied. I don't trust the VA until I get the official letter.

Thanks John,

I agree, whether they awarded or denied the increase for TDIU, it's just strange to me to see the claim jump right out of development to the closed phase. They've had all of the documentation to include my SSDI award and exams since March.

Whats interesting is I just got off the phone with Phoenix(800# goes through phoenix at night) The agent says the call center is on the 3rd floor, claims on the 2nd. There is no communication between the two. They are all ran separately. Even though a Veteran with claims, he has no idea what is going on. Just panadora's box. I did inform him -will let his manager know that there is an issue with their site with e-benifits. A glitch is preventing us folks in AZ from accessing up to date information.

So meantime all we can do is wait for an official letter from the VA, and keep checking your bank account

Deacon,

Did they have you come in for a C&P exam for TDIU or and Exam for Voc Re-hab? Is there any chance you missed an exam? Going from Development to Closed is usually not a good thing, although it almost always indicated VA has screwed something up.

The biggest problem is the quality of data on e-benefits.

If you have My Healthy Vet access Check your appointments under the get care section. I have found that somewhat relaible, if you missed an appointment it should show up in that listing.

Don't freak out, at my appointment hypothisis it is just one of many things that could be going on.

Best regards,

No, they did not have me come in for an exam for TDIU however, they did schedule me for a series of exams for everything that I had ever been service connected for and then some. I completed all of those exams. I was not scheduled for a Voc Rehab appointment either... I will check the Healthy Vets link to see if it leads me anywhere.

I do find it strange, I promptly applied for TDIU after receiving the increase to 80%, could no longer work and receiving SSDI. I never rec'd the form from the VA to apply for TDIU, that came from my VSO although it states in eBenefits that they sent me one. My claim for TDIU was posted within days of the claims increase, I was hoping that after 8 months and seeing the status closed that it was a done deal.

Thanks for the info!
