Question

Any increase in speed of claims going through the system? It seemed last year nothing was moving..

is there some math being kept soemwhere showing if the claims are moving faster, or the same?

thanx.

Not in appeals, since I got 100%, and some of it was winning an 1151 negligence, which the VA turns out does not give ful benefits if you win 1151 negligence they squirm and legal loophhole you and your family out of many benefits, really crapp nasty bunch running the va benefits, they wil backstab and scre wyou even if you win you lose. 71 has it right. The new "Double Pass" Crosscut shredder technology enables the VA to reduce paperwork, and to reduce the backlog of claims.

It is vastly superior to the old "Single Pass" shredder technology that the VA used to use, because it is still possible to read that old shredded claim.

With the new "Double Pass" Technology, the shredder machine also shreds the fingers of the operators leaving their DNA on there so the VA can blame people other than Veterans for the delays, since Veterans sometimes do not like it when the VA blames Veterans for their delays. The VA executives who devised the new technology will be rewarded with nice end of year bonuses.

Instead of 3 legged turtle we used to call it the Merry Go Round

Thats how the turtles got 3 legs.

A Veteran is a person who served this country. Treat them with respect.

A Disabled Veteran is a person who served this country and bears the scars of that service regardless of when or where they served.

Treat them with the upmost respect. I do. Rejection is not a sign of failure. Failure is not an option, Medical opinions and evidence wins claims. Trust in others is a virtue but you take the T out of Trust and you are left with Rust so be wise about who you are dealing with.

Hello All,,,,,, Hahaha ,,,, There is some idle time here so the ideas just keep on keepin on.. better than The Comedy Channel.

I would say that overall the VA has been making some headway with decisions over the last few months.

For what it is worth....my QTC (3) C and P exams were done on Dec 5 and Dec 15 and the 3 decisions were completed on FEB. 7(rubberstampeddate ), 2012 with was adjudicated and in my mailbox on Feb 9, 2011 and all 3 items were Favorably adjudicated. It was Houston Regional that would have to put up with the moving of claims . Especially since I had been character slapped by other VA officials because of how slow they were for many , many months earning numerous dubious flop house awards from shreddergate, especially creative around Christmas time for decorating a Boston Fir, to the race to the top........and plastic star probably made in China. The most backlogged , conjestive claims processing offices of the 57 or 58 RO's, depending on whose counting these days. Could have been better but still favorable, especially since it was my claim and they deemed it worthy for some percentages. Thank you again Houston. For the rest of us stuck in combat and held hostage by our own claim(s) there is still a chance to get a Purple Heart for a colonscopy while listening to Billy Joel 's song "Only the Good Die Young" and then the anestesciologist thinks hes Ray Price.... or Willy Nelson depending on which rendition you like....on the countdown 5,4,3,2,1,,,,..you got it....."TURN OUT THE LIGHTs" ,,,,,,Jbasser , you will have to call Houston RO to get that turtle leg back.......NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C.

Hi, Capt. C...Your claim was with Houston Varo right? See my thread about Houston below...some activity with claim.

Why arrive at the grave relatively unscaithed, rather than to skid in sideways yelling "Holy Crap! What a Ride!"

After some more thinking the speed has not increased but the number of awards has. If the VA does it right and grants the award it naturally increases the speed cause no reason to appeal.

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.

    • VA has gotten away with (mis) interpreting their  ambigious, , vague regulations, then enforcing them willy nilly never in Veterans favor.

They justify all this to congress by calling themselves a "pro claimant Veteran friendly organization" who grants the benefit of the doubt to Veterans.

      This is not true,

      Proof:

About 80-90 percent of Veterans are initially denied by VA, pushing us into a massive backlog of appeals, or worse, sending impoverished Veterans "to the homeless streets" because  when they cant work, they can not keep their home.  I was one of those Veterans who they denied for a bogus reason:  "Its been too long since military service".  This is bogus because its not one of the criteria for service connection, but simply made up by VA.  And, I was a homeless Vet, albeit a short time,  mostly due to the kindness of strangers and friends.

Hadit would not be necessary if, indeed, VA gave Veterans the benefit of the doubt, and processed our claims efficiently and paid us promptly.  The VA is broken.

A huge percentage (nearly 100 percent) of Veterans who do get 100 percent, do so only after lengthy appeals.  I have answered questions for thousands of Veterans, and can only name ONE person who got their benefits correct on the first Regional Office decision.  All of the rest of us pretty much had lengthy frustrating appeals, mostly having to appeal multiple multiple times like I did.

I wish I know how VA gets away with lying to congress about how "VA is a claimant friendly system, where the Veteran is given the benefit of the doubt".   Then how come so many Veterans are homeless, and how come 22 Veterans take their life each day?  Va likes to blame the Veterans, not their system.
    • Welcome to hadit!

There are certain rules about community care reimbursement, and I have no idea if you met them or not.  Try reading this:

      https://www.va.gov/resources/getting-emergency-care-at-non-va-facilities/

However, (and I have no idea of knowing whether or not you would likely succeed) Im unsure of why you seem to be so adamant against getting an increase in disability compensation.

When I buy stuff, say at Kroger, or pay bills, I have never had anyone say, "Wait!  Is this money from disability compensation, or did you earn it working at a regular job?"  Not once.  Thus, if you did get an increase, likely you would have no trouble paying this with the increase compensation.

However, there are many false rumors out there that suggest if you apply for an increase, the VA will reduce your benefits instead.

That rumor is false but I do hear people tell Veterans that a lot.  There are strict rules VA has to reduce you and, NOT ONE of those rules have anything to do with applying for an increase.

Yes, the VA can reduce your benefits, but generally only when your condition has "actually improved" under ordinary conditions of life.

Unless you contacted the VA within 72 hours of your medical treatment, you may not be eligible for reimbursement, or at least that is how I read the link, I posted above. Here are SOME of the rules the VA must comply with in order to reduce your compensation benefits:

      https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/38/3.344

    • Good question.

Maybe I can clear it up.

The spouse is eligible for DIC if you die of a SC condition OR any condition if you are P and T for 10 years or more.  (my paraphrase).

      More here:

      Source:

      https://www.va.gov/disability/dependency-indemnity-compensation/

NOTE:   TO PROVE CAUSE OF DEATH WILL LIKELY REQUIRE AN AUTOPSY.  This means if you die of a SC condtion, your spouse would need to do an autopsy to prove cause of death to be from a SC condtiond.    If you were P and T for 10 full years, then the cause of death may not matter so much.
