Question
unknown
This is a different sort of question than what's normally asked...and in fact it's something I just considered recently.
Here's the situation, I have a 10% rating for PTSD, that is currently pending review for my NOD. In fact it's been 710 days since I've submitted my NOD.
Anyway, I am in college right now, but my wife is pregnant and we already have a 4 yr old stepdaughter. She's concerned about our future because a couple years from now my GI benefits will run out and I will have to pay out of pocket for college....which will obviously hamper our finances.
My original plan was to become a police officer after getting out of the Army...under the assumption that no employers can see or ask about the VA disability ratings. I've been told recently that this is not the case, and in fact they can see your VA ratings, and will take them into consideration during hiring...especially with something like PTSD.
So, here I am.
I'm just exploring my options, and I know that if my PTSD rating was removed rather than increased (like I have a pending NOD for), then my likelihood of getting employment in Law Enforcement is increased considerably.
Is there a way to request that the VA dismiss my disability rating?
Thanks all!
