0 HadIt.com Elder Chuck75 Posted July 14, 2015 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted July 14, 2015 When the VA is forced to pay interest and penalties, just as they make some veterans pay, I'd bet that things turn around very rapidly. I.E. add 10% + the current interest rate for every year past the first one after a claim is filed. Add 20% when the VA "holds" a retroactive payment. Compute retroactive payments using the governments own "this year that year" numbers and equivalents. One A CUE level appeal, when won, force the VA to pay the 20% or so due lawyers. Do this and just wait and see how long the VA takes to change it's "spots". Continued problems on the VA medical side? Pay veterans Medicare or other co-pay and out of pockets at Medicare rates. Eliminate VA medical services and facilities in locations that have equal or better community based facilities and services. ArNG11

Chuck, good valid points on the top of your post, that is how it would be in the commercial sector, but they are protected by status as federal agency, so they can just roll along without worrying about any of that. Enforcement of penalties would simply increase the "low balling" of ratings, the money has to come from somewhere and they are not going to touch their operations funding so it will come out of another vets compensation. As to the medical, I just got assigned to my 'VA' healthcare. I live in the country, sort of, so my nearest 'VA Healthcare facility' is a contractor. If they did it your way, how could they give fat contracts to their friends and family and grease palms with contracts to set themselves up for their next job? In January next year they will say they were referring to 2015 in the Islamic Calendar which gives them another 579 years to clear the backlog and are "on schedule"
