Question

I fell in the shower last week...my arm started to swell up at the elbow down to my hand,,it was painful but I didn't think I broke anything  so wife wanted me to go to VA get it checked...I did they x ray it  nothing was broke but said I has cutlive bone spurs in my elbow caused by blunt truma to the elbow  which I hit my elbow on  the soap caddy hanging on the shower head.

ok they sent me home wrap up in a bandages  and said to take  800 Ibprophen mg for inflammation and swelling of the joints.

and to come back in a week if not better..its not better  but a week will be this Tuesday.

Here is my question, I was looking at my healthyvet notes last night and the RN I seen for this had put down he  ask me if I had any of these symptoms he I  said no to all these question's.

Do you have trouble sleeping...no....which I do I use a VA C-Pap...OSA

Does your urine smell bad no...which it does   having prostate problems with a swelled prostate  take meds for it

Do you  get dizzy at times...no...>which I do at times

Do you have problems thinking/concentrating  remembering things no.....>which I do a lot

Do you have night mares  no...>which I do due to flashbacks cause by PTSD dx by VA

Do you have thoughts of suicide  no...,>which I have many times

and about 4 0r 5 more questions related to MH type questions

He never ask me any of those questions and now its in my VA Notes.

I thought something was ''fishy''about that because they all know I have a claim in for PTSD.

This RN is my PCP Nurse....but however my PCP mention to me she has nothing to do with my MH Dr's  she said they  do my MH & PTSD and prescribe my meds for it.

All he did was a Temp & BP Test & oximeter on my finger.  wrapped my elbow with bandages.

No questions was ask other wise.

This pisses me off because I have a new claim in for PTSD(gathering evidence phase)  And I never was ask any of these questions  he only ask me about my arm and what happen   had me to go get it X-RAY..&  He wrap my elbow told me to take the ibuprofen &come back within a week if not better.

I Probably will have to go back up there and see him Tuesday  should I take copies of his notes and show him and ask why he lied like that? or just go straight to the Hospital Director?

............Thanks

Okay

I am little worried about the fluid in my elbow  looks like an egg or small lemon...the fluid is still there.

I keep an ice pack on it and take the meds they said to take and keep it in the compression sleeve  but so for no change?

this is going on 3 weeks now from today.

Had a friend that got this.

They stuck a needle into the swelling and drew off fluid, but it came back.

Ended up with surgery on it.  Took some 3 weeks or so for him to get there.

For the most part, the VA docs are herding through as many Vets per day through the system, and not purposely trying to stab anyone in the back via medical records.  I wait weeks to see a doc, arrive, and its another half hour wait.  Then its no more than 2 minutes with the doc.  I better not have "2" issues, becuase he only wants to hear issue "one", so that he can see his normal 100, 200, or more patients in one day.  Its no wonder they shortcut the records, by leaving stuff filled in from the last patient on the screen.  He has to do that to complete your exam in 2 minutes, or else it would take 5 minutes to update your records, and then other Vets would not be seen by a doc.  They schedule appointments every 15 minutes, but then there are the "walk ins" that they have, plus emergencies, and then there is paperwork, and computer work for each patient.

VA was not the first health care provider to go to an all electronic system to improve patient care, they did it to be able to jam in more patients in a smaller time, so VA could hire fewer doctors.

When we complain about bonuses, we are correct, but not bonuses for doctors. Experienced Doctors deserve/need/will get 200 or 300 k per year, and the pay caps out about 175.  If they dont give the docs a bonus, they will lose them to private practice.  You see, many/most docs have 10 years education and 250k to 1 million student loans to pay off.  Its not uncommon for doctors to pay in excess of 100,000 per year, or more to student loans.  So, a doc earning 175 (the max) paying 100k in student loans gets 75k or less after loans.  BUt, he pays taxes on 175, not 75, so if he is in a 25 percent tax bracket that means he pays 43k in taxes, with 32k left over.  Would you want to be a doc and earn 30k per year?  Those paper pushers earn more, way more, and dont have student loans.

No he did not remove what was said in my notes the first time, however  he made an addenda and re-wrote what was said truthfully the first time,

when a medical note is in your records they can't take it out  its the law  it has to stay in there but when an addenda is made to that fact  they read the addenda part for clarification.

Also if a veteran gets a proposal to reduce his/her benefits...and has Filed a NOD and is granted a DRO Hearing and has evidence to dispute what was said by  a VA Doc who wrote or ask for the proposal   and the DRO Believes this veterans private Dr (usually a specialist) and wins his case  and is either grant continue of his current benefits or a higher evaluation is grated...the bad proposal letter is still placed in the veterans c-file  but by court ruling that proposal is consider solved and they are not supposed to use that bad proposal against the veteran in any other case/claim

This is one of the important reasons a veteran should keep a library of his/her medical records.or make copies and keep in a safe place the rest of his/her life..

There are only a handful of young Dr's at my VAMC most Dr's are in there 50's at least , but I have to say there's been more and more young Dr's coming in.

I don't think the VA Doc's are hurting for $$$  the VA PAYS Them very good, this is why you see more and more younger docs working at the VA. and to do their intermship some stay with the VA And some move on. ...> just my opinion.

and this is just my opinion  as for as grants  I think most of the parents help out with there grants or most are on an Academic  Scholarship   if the truth was known.  the % of grants are leveled out after ten years( Been granted a ''GRANT PASS) or the student is granted a pay as you go sorta of deal. (set payments as so it does not hurt them)...my daughter in law had a grant like this   her and my son paid the grant off within 10 years.

Some family's are fortunate wealthy but I would say most students who are not so fortunate not being from a wealthy family are getting academic Scholarships

My Grandson is going to Texas Tech University on a Academic Scholarship.in his 3rd year.

.....be patient Buck, the fluid will eventually disappear, it's there for a reason, to help the injured area heal, healing takes time...! I pray that all is well w/elbow joint after the swelling goes down, remember to 'be on watch' for any grinding sensation w/in the joint, so that it can be 'nipped in the bud' so to speak and you can be spared what I've had to go thru.
