killemall
My dad is 63 He retired from us post office at 55 He was under the old crs system and not the new Fers retirement system. So he paid very little into social security. He did pay 4 years as while in the airforce Then after retiring post office he worked at Wal-Mart for 4 years and paid into SS He currently gets aprox $300 a month from SS He has recently received a rating of 80% from the VA. Is he now eligible to convert from regular SS to SSDI through the Wounded Warrior program and perhaps receive more money from social security? Or is it too late? Thank you
0 vetquest
It is never too late to apply. I am not informed about the wounded warrior program though.
0 Guest
Have him file a new application. IMHO, the worst thing a person can do is call SSA or go to SSA and ask questions. The proper or right way is to go in and file a new application and make SSA put it in writing and then appeal and get a lawyer. SSA is getting like VA, deny, deny, deny then oops we can grant but they limit the retro pay.
0 killemall
They approved me for ssdi at 34 years old and gave me 68k in retro..so I sing a happy tune about them lol. I will heed your advice. Thank you very much
0 conla
I started drawing SS at age 63 and I'm now age 70. I am Sc for a 90% disability rating for multiple disabilities. Is it possible for me to get SSDI?
0 Carl the Engineer
https://www.disability-benefits-help.org/faq/disability-wounded-warriors Basically the same as a civilian, except they expedite Veterans that were injured after Oct 1, 2001. And they take your VA disability records in account, but if you got injured in your civilian job, same deal. They are just prettying it up some to make it look like Veterans are being taken care of, like the VA, No more, no less, Hamslice
0 HadIt.com Elder Buck52 Posted January 26, 2020 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted January 26, 2020 what was the 300.00 month your Dad got from S,S,? Was it retirement pay? or was it for a disability? IS YOUR DAD TOTALLY DISABLED? IF ONE HAS PAID INTO THE SSA SYSTEM THEY CAN RETIRE AT AGE 63 BUT IF A VETERAN AND DISABLED AND GETTING A SERVICE CONNECTION COMPENSATION PAYMENT EACH MONTH AT THE 100% RATE I BELIEVE HE CAN FILE FOR SSDI BUT HAS TO HAVE BEEN PAID INTO THE SYSTEM THE LAST 10 YEARS AS PETE MENTION TAKE YOUR DAD TO THE SSA OFFICE AND CHECK WITH THEM HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET MORE THAN 300.00 MONTHLY FROM SSDI. BUT THE ONLY THING IS HE NEEDS TO BE 100% SERVICE CONNECT BECAUSE THE SSA ONLY TAKES US IF WERE TOTALLY DISABLED
