Another new one for me, a contracted C&P

Rate this question

Carl the Engineer

Question

All,

Another new one for me.  Just got the call from "LHI Care" (?).  All my previous exams have been done at the VA hospital.

The good.  They are scheduling the C&P thirty minutes from my home.  The place doing the exam is the same place where I had my rehab for my plantar fasciitis a few years back.

The bad.  I have never done a contracted exam before (so at least I will know what you Veterans are always talking about).

The ugly.  I am schedule for lower back, spine, shoulder/arm, esophagus and hiatal hernia.  This place had no doctors, just physical therapists, so not too comfortable on the Barrett's Esophagus/Hiatal Hernia part of the exam...

I took a quick search of LHI in Hadit, and see they look like a 50/50 satisfaction rating, LOL.

Any suggestions are appreciated,

Hamslice

I will be studying the associated DBQ's before hand, and taking copies of my medical records with.

That must be your clinic. They aren't all that way.

To be Honest...I feel more like a Slave  than a Veteran  when I'm at the VAMC.

I FEEL I MIGHT SAY THE WRONG THINGS AND SAY YES SIR YES MAM.  &  I'VE NOTICE THEY LOVE THAT  AND NEVER DOES A VETERAN GET THAT IN RETURN. AND MOST VETERANS DREAD HAVING TO GO TO THE VAMC .Its pretty sad when a Veteran feels this way.

Maybe true ,

but they CAN get someone in there that can better run the compensation exams  better management is what is needed, there's VA DR.s THAT HAS A LOT OF TIME ON THERE HANDS, example  Veterans  waits at least 20./30 minutes after he checks in  sometimes a lot longer for his schedule appointment  he might see the Dr  within that time...but the second Veteran is out there waiting and waiting to see the same Dr...why  because the Dr is taking a freaking break each time he./she sees a Veteran   I've seen this a thousand times,  not all VA Dr's are like this but the majority will be...they can speed up the time it takes Veterans to see their Dr....with the Dr's that are seeing Veterans =  M.Ds., SPECIALIST. NURSE PRACTITIONERS /CERTIFIED PA's  even RN's AND just to add  medical Students ,so the VA HAS THE Dr's to see Veterans  and they have the Dr's to do C&P's...The VA NEEDS CLEANED UP AND CLEANED UP BAD.  Better management and more moral to support the Veteran...VA needs a face lift  not us Veterans.

We need a President that will fix all of this.  (jmo)

not having enough Dr to see Veterans in a timely manner  whos fault is that?  and the VA WILL NEED ANOTHER 10.000 Dr's to help out with C&P EXAMS,,,,BS.

In my opinion I am scared to use the VA Dr's  why? because they know they are covered  or the VA will take care of them no matter what they do  so they get to take breaks  they have some very nice accommodations, and they get paid just as good as the national average paid outside Dr  maybe more...and they get the big head  and don't worry about things like malpractice  suites ECT,,,ECT,,, IMO  there are two kinds of Dr's   Dr's that are fresh out of med school and doing their residency at the VAMC And then there are new Dr's fresh out of all there schooling and not ready to start their own practice....they want to practices on us Veterans   then head out on there own.  & THEN THERE ARE THE QUACKS THAT SHOULD NOT BEEN HIRED BY THE VA IN THE FIRST PLACE.

BUT I DO SEE THE VA DOCS  why because its my only health care   so a lot of us Veteran's rely on the VA for our medical care.

(JMO)

Doctors practice at the VA before going solo because they will have a rotation they will never have again- a constant stream of patients. That is why- otherwise they would be opening practices and treating the occasional boo boo, flu, and other family doctor stuff (if they are a GP doctor). At VA they are exposed to way more types of cases then they ever get at med school rotations even at urban hospitals. I don't have a problem with them being at VA more than anywhere else- whether its at VA or their general practice they would still screw up- that's doctoring. Does it suck when it happens to 'you'? Yes. Does it suck when it happens to someone else? 'yes'. Any doctor will tell you its not an exact science.

Update,

Had to call QTC to register to get my password.  I can now log onto the examinee portal and see that I have an (not in person) for a "Medical Opinion"

on the 31st of May at 10:30.

Would be nice to know what he is opining on,

LOL,

At my VA hospital it is almost impossible to see a specialist.  They see patients once a week between the hours of 7am and 7:30 am.
