ptsd PTSD claim persuit
Background; 2010 was told by VA mental health professionals to claim PTSD. I did. Marine with CAR and multiple stressor's..!..C&P examiner said I did not have ptsd..! so I appealed. Fast forward, 2013,awarded 30% for MDD. You can only be compensated for one mental disorder.. Over the past 3 years I have been formally DX w PTSD by three diff VA Dr.'s also. the only benefit I could see by perusing the PTSD as service connected would be to link my severe OSA to PTSD for service connection. ?? Am I thinking this through correctly,Mehta other possible benefit would there be to service connect PTSD.. any thoughts comments appreciated, thanks

ptsd C&P exam upcoming
Hello, been lurking here on the forums and reading all the information i can get. Have an upcoming C&P exam and i am confused as to what it is actually for. a bit of a back story, last year i filed for PTSD with depression and anger issues, had a horrible VSO from a Missouri Veterans Commission. I never even got the chance to send in all of my civilian medical records, i never got to send in my Statement in Support of my claim. the gentleman told me to take those with me to the C&P Exam, thing is,i was denied and never even got a C&P. I took my denial letter plus some of my records from my VA folder to the Disable American Veterans and the person filed a "reaj…

ptsd Members Opinion Needed!
Hello, As most you guys know I was recently diagnosed with PTSD and Moderately Severe Depression by the VA in June 2015...code 9411 not sure on this rating? also Unspecific Depression disorders code for that is 9435...which for the rating I would ask for that suites my symptom's would be 70% I understand there suppose to award/rate the highest of the two! My dilemma is I cant make up my mind rather to file a claim or not, I am getting TDIU P&T on a combined rating of 90% for servere hearing loss/tinnitus, been that way now for almost 14 consecutive years. (paid at the 100%rate) Iam well over over 55..actually 63 IF I get a 70%rating with PTSD this would q…

Is There Anything That Helps You Fall Asleep And Feel Safe.
Just wanted to know if anyone else out there has a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep. I wake up to sound that I know are nothing. I am always thinking that someone is going to break into my house so I am always preparing my mind to defend. My Doc has prescribed me some sleeping meds but I don't have the balls to take them, I am afraid they will kill me or the need will arise that I will need to defend my wife and kids an wont be able to wake up. Also anyone else beside me wake up to loud sounds in your head, sound like two trash can lids banging together. This is the closest description that I could find http://www.sleepeducation.com/sleep-disorders-by-categ…

Insomnia Is Kickin'!
Over the last 3, almost 4 days, the longest continuous sleep I have had was barely 3 hours. Every time my body tries to go into REM sleep, as soon as I start to dream, I get hit in the chest with a panic attack and adrenaline and pop up feeling threatened. I can't shake it. I have Hydroxyzine Pam, which was all they would give me for sleep, but when I tried taking it (right before this stretch of sleeplessness) for a few days it seemed to be feeding my nightmares, so I stopped taking it for now, and I am scared to take it in case I can't wake up from my dreams. I am thinking about drinking a little alcohol and see if that will relax me enough to sleep, dreamlessly. D…

ptsd Ptsd Claim
I want to file a PTSD claim Diagnose by VA Physiatrist, but I need to get my service records first, I sent off for them from the St Louis office but still not heard anything its been about 3 weeks ago, should I request my C-File too before I file this claim? I wanted to make sure I have my stressors....and see what all is in my C-File I know time is wasting for my EED but I just want to make sure I cover everything before I file and don't want to be trapped by the VA and get denied. I am currently 90% combined rating for hearing loss with tinnitus inferred TDIU P&T for the last 13 3/4 years consecutively. would the VA hold that against me? thinking I'm being greedy…

C & P Results From Ptsd
Hi All, I just had a C & P recently and found the below in the blue button on Myhealthevet. I would really appreciate it if somebody could tell me what all of this means. It doesn't make sense to me when it comes to the bottom whereas the examiner puts her opinion. I just supplied a PTSD Nexus letter from my personal doctor stating my PTSD is likely as not a result of military service. Initial Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) ---------- 1. Diagnostic Summary --------------------- Does the Veteran have a diagnosis of PTSD that conforms to DSM-5 criteria based on today's evaluation? [X] Yes [ ] No 2. Current Diagnoses -------------------- a. Men…

ptsd How The Va Rates Ptsd Claims
For any veterans wanting to know this? How The VA Evaluates Levels Of Disability Once the VA has awarded service connection for PTSD, it will then review the most current clinical evidence of record to determine how the severity of your symptoms impairs your social and industrial (ability to work) capacity. The VA has a schedule of rating disabilities, located in title 38 C.F.R., Part 4. The VA has established Diagnostic Codes (DC) for various medical and psychiatric disorders, which include a description of the severity of related symptoms and a corresponding disability percentage (called a rating or evaluation). Although there are different DCs for covered psychiat…
