Va Requesting Medical Records Already Sent In By Vet -
This is quote from another thread (Talked to "senior Staffer") by 71M10 and rather than interrupt his thread which has to do with questions concerning his arthritis claim, I'd like to start a new thread regarding his experience with the VA requesting his civilian medical records even though he already sent them in. Has this happened to anyone else - where the VA has sent a records release form for civilian medical records you've already sent them and told you that even though they have them the VA has to request them again? Talk about stupidity and redundancy! Does anyone know if this a new change in policy? This is quite different from my experience over a year a…

Resource For Widows
Here is a nice link from a Casualty Assistance Office with a checklist of things for the spouse of a deceased veteran to apply for -- includes forms to download. http://www.rao-osan.com/retact/info/casual...y_checklist.htm And thanks to Berta for the gentle nudge in the right direction. I actually stopped procrastinating and finished my DIC application. It is ready to mail the day after Memorial Day. I guess that makes me an official widow. Free

Memorial Day Are You Wearing Your Medals?
well i'll be doggoned first time i've agreed with anything nicholson said, i do think it is a good idea for veterans to wear their medals on memorial day and all veterans holidays. civilians need to know us, need to know we are their brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, friends and customers. i'm wearing mine, meager that they are.

ptsd Raising 2 Or More Bases
I mention this here but maybe not often enough- a veteran or widow can raise more than one potential claim for service connection. http://www.va.gov/vetapp06/files2/0605222.txt This is a BVA decision which is a good example- the veteran's diagnosis seemed to be at one point depression and then a year later PTSD- but he also was even diagnosed as malingering. The vet claimed depression in 1999 and then filed claim for PTSD in 2000. "ORDER Service connection for PTSD is denied. Service connection for depression is granted." A widow can do the same. I claimed that my husband had undiagnosed DMII which is what resulted in his CVA, CAD and death. T…

Bill Proposed To Senator Schumer
This is my first page that includes the final rewording of the amendment I am asking Senator Schumer to sponsor. Is anyone interested in asking their representative in the House or Senate to do the same? I suggest you re-word it in your own words-and tell them if you yourself were adversely affected by a VCAA violation. I used as evidence to support this request-the 2006 BVA Chairman's report on the remand situation and the impact of the VCAA deficiencies on the high remand rate. I also used Knight Ridder stats on my VARO-Buffalo- and enclosed a brief overview of the VCAA from NVLSP. I didn't attach the whole letter as it refers to my problems with the RO an…

Crsc And Lifers
In January the criteria for CRSC -Combat Related Special Compensation changed: Jerry O raised a question on this and I feel the whole shibang needs to be posted here again: from: http://www.military.com/benefits/military-...-compensation#2 Also Mil.com has an active CRDP CRSC forum to explain these programs. Benefits Home > > Combat-Related Special CompensationCombat-Related Special Compensation Simply put Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC) provides military retirees a monthly compensation that replaces their VA disability offset. This means that qualified military retirees with 20 or more years of service that have "combat related" VA-rated di…

ptsd Unemployablity
Greetings, I am currently 10% Tinnitis (since 1996), 40% Cervical (since 1996), and 50% PTSD (since 2004), with a total of 70%. I am 61 years old and have applied for unemployability because the severity of my combat connected disability has increased. My question here is : When the VAMC does a C & P exam to determine my unemployability, is there any possibility that they can REDUCE some of my existing benefits. Does anyone know the answer to this, for sure !!! Thank you dick calton
