diabetes Sleep Apnea Secondary To Physical Disabilities
Since my last post on this subject and reading appeal decisions I found several claims where sleep apnea was granted secondary due to left knee disability. Left knee fused, claimant gained weight, developed sleep apnea and diabetes due to forced sedentary lifestyle from left knee fusion-Docket No. 98-12 648A dated 6/17/05. I am in a similar situation, I too have had a left knee fusion(1989) and have gained weight and developed sleep apnea to include high blood pressure. Are there other veterans who have something similar?

Increased Denials=increased Appeals. Must Read.
This article was taken from Vawatchdog.com. Whats your take on whats going on here...Wow. Here is proof that denials have increased! Judge William P. Greene Jr., who presides over the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, warned of a strained court that has had to recall five retired judges in recent months to assist with growing backlogs…

Joints And Bones
Hi Everyone, Over two years ago I was sevice conected 0% for complete fracture of my left collorbone. The bone never healed correctly. It looks like on x ray the bone grew on top of the other bone. By the way the fracture happened At Ft. Eustis Va. in 1973. It is quite deformed. At the C&P I could not lift arm out above 90%, forward and back was 25% With much pain. C&P Doctor set me up with a MRI. My Mri was done on Monday 5/14/07. I picked up my Radiological interpertation yesterday. The impression is 1. Abnormal appearance to the distal supraspinatus tendon at the attatchnent / footplate on the humeral head suggestive of full thickness tear. No tendon or muscle …

Va Psychologist Gave Handout Today-
Got a handout today from the psychologist at the VAMC. It states that the medication that has been prescribed for DMII to help diabetics regulate their glucose levels is no good. The drug is AVANDIA also known as Rosiglitazone (generic). Those who take it are 43% more likely to have a heart attack and 64% increased risk for cardiovascular-related death. This is the drug they just increased by double for my husband Maybe we should be filing a claim against GlaxcoSmith Kline? :) This came from the VA- but no instructions as to keep taking, quit taking, or what? Anyone else have any information? jangrin

Sleep Apnea Secondary To Physical Disabilities
I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and was issued a CPAP machine. My PCP at the VA told me it was because I am over weight and told me I needed to exercise and watch my diet. I have a fused left knee(40%), Lower back(40%), I was told by Ortho doctor I am in need of right knee replacement(20%), right hip(10%), left foot(10%), and scar(10%) with all these physical problems how am I to exercise, not to mention my PCP also told me not to aggravate my problem by lifting, stooping, bending or walking long distances or standing over too long. I contend that because of my seditary lifestyle I became over weight and developed sleep apnea. Do anyone know of have experienced this? If …

C&p And Re-eval Questions
First, I just want to say thanks for this forum!! I just found this site and love the information I've read so far. I'm 50% service disabled(40% back, 20% shoulder 0% hernia) I had back surgery while active duty in the lower back(L4-L5 diskectomy). I had additional surgeries in the same part of my lower back in 1998 and 1999. I did not apply for reconsideration of my rating at that time. I know, I know I was an idiot!!!! Now this year I had the same problem again with my lower back. Only this time it was worse and they had to do a back fusion at 2 levels of my lower back. This is my 4th surgery(Mar 15) in the same service connected location on my back. I'v…

Info Submitted
Hello all! I have recently submitted evidence to support service connection for secondary conditions (left shoulder limitation of motion-pain and depression). Should I expect a C&P exam? If so, what can I expect from a mental health C&P? Does it differ from a regular C&P? The way my memory is, I am afraid that I will forget or omit symptomology that will support my claim. Should I write crib notes? Thanks for the help!

Why And Help
I was rate by the VA 40%. 30% for my MS and 10% for nere damage in my foot and 10% for my knee. now please explain the VAs math 30+10+10= 50 not 40. Anyway it took me 7 years any plenty of hospital stays to getting re-evaluate and receiving a rating of 70%. but once again with VA math not real math. This is what I mean I already had 40% and then I received 30% for Migraine cuased by chronic steroid use,10% for Neuropathy right upper extremity,10%right lower extremity, and 10% for GERD seondary to chronic steroid use. How does this equal 70% CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS!!!!!!!
