Vamc Keeping C & P Examiner Credentials Secret
I learned something this morning, and thought I'd share it with everyone here. I checked the State Board of Medical Examiners for the name of the "requesting physician" who recently conducted an orthopaedic C & P for a veteran I'm trying to help file a request for increase. I couldn't find the name there as an M.D., an N.P., a P.A., or anything else. A friend of mine then checked the national AMA website, and "Dr." Evans wasn't found there, either. I then called the Patient Advocate's office at the VAMC where the C & P took place. The "Advocate" told me the following. No, this individual doesn't hold any medical licensing of any sort in this state. No, …

Iu Claim Denied
I recently (well, in May) put in a claim for IU. I'm rated at 80%, with bipolar at 70% and assorted other stuff reaching me to 80 in VA math. My IU claim was denied today even though I'm not working or anything. Can I assume it's because I'm going to school through voc rehab? And if so, is it even appealable? Or am I just going to lose based on "if she can go to school..." I have two therapists and two psych docs that have told me to get IU and not to work right now, ESPECIALLY while going through school, but the C&P doctor I had was a real jerk and said I was just "letting my husband take care of me" and "being lazy" (yes, I reported him). I don't know if …

Uplifting Story
At Military.com a veteran recently posted a story of how Amvets and other vet orgs refused to support his claim. For 6 years he fought the claim himself without their support. The BVA just granted him service connection for schizophrenia. He posted: "It's especially important that claimants know Title 38, because you'd be a fool to put all your faith and trust in any advocate or lawyer, at least that is what I learned. You simply must be prepared to go it alone if need be. Never give up. Never listen to anyone who tells you different. Because when you fight for yourself you're fighting for others." He also credited Lexis Nexis for the VBM (NVLSP) as help…

I'm a late life dad with >30% SC. I get a additional amount for a child. Now that he is 18 and enrolled in Community College I wonder if I will get a reduction in compensation. He is working part time and waiting now for the spring term to begin. I am anticipating the letter telling me of my reduction in comp $$. Am I correct? Any thoughts? Thanks,

New Pysch Dr.
Hi, My husband saw a new shrink last week and he wasn't in there 5 minutes. This was his first app. with this dr. and the dr. asked if he thought his meds were working and said okay and said he would see him in 3 months. He didn't ask him about any problems that he might have or anything. Is this normal? When he was seeing a NP, she would spend as much time as he needed and he really liked her. He's not to sure about this new guy. Thanks, sbrewer

New Here And Need Help.
Greetings to all...I have been a disabled vet for 12 years and have recently applied for an increase in my rating. When I submitted my claim info, the VA made an appointment for a C & P Exam. I went to the exam and then about a week later, I received a letter that they proposed to decrease my disability rating from 50% to 30%. They told me to submit additional evidence and that a Physician Statement was the best kind. Well, immediately, I visited my Psych doctor and showed him the letter and he was surprised (because he was the one who suggested that I file a claim for an increased rating). Anyway, he wrote a letter, explaining why he felt as if I should have an …

Dro Conference
My claims are with a rater. I have 2 detailed IMOs, and additional brief IMO statement, from former VA doctor, and also treatises that support my claim as to the clinical record of the veteran and standard known medical fact. In 2005 my POA had a "conference" with the DRO who had sent me a sameo sameo -socalled de novo review which I raised hell over-and this produced the "conference" My POA assured me that my initial IMO was in the c file.Yet it had been ignored for a year at that point. It was his suggestion that the VA get a medical opinion. He told me the DRO could not understand my IM0 because she was new and that my IMO would be considered along with the …

hypertension My C@p Results.
I went and picked up my results today for My C@P for Hypertension and Heart disease. The Examiner did everything according to the book and for the Hypertension, The opinion was most likely related and for the Heart disease it was as least as likely as not (even stated 50/50). Fastest C@P turn around I have seen. Less than 5 days from the exam to the RO. If only the decision was that fast.
