ptsd A Political Debate On Stress Disorder
A Political Debate On Stress Disorder As Claims Rise, VA Takes Stock By Shankar Vedantam Washington Post Staff Writer Tuesday, December 27, 2005; Page A01 The spiraling cost of post-traumatic stress disorder among war veterans has triggered a politically charged debate and ignited fears that the government is trying to limit expensive benefits for emotionally scarred troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. In the past five years, the number of veterans receiving compensation for the disorder commonly called PTSD has grown nearly seven times as fast as the number receiving benefits for disabilities in general, according to a report this year by the inspecto…

Rao Bulletin Update, 01 January, 2006
:D If you think the information you get from the phone clerk at your local VARO, is incorrect, your more likely than not, correct. If you think Veterans are stretching the truth in the error in claims by the VA, think again. The following is a ROA Bulletin update: VA CLAIM ERROR RATE: Veterans’ organizations are decrying the fact that at the Department of Veterans Affairs the error rate on disability claims remains high even as the backlog of claims continues to grow. The House Veterans’ Affairs Committee was told 7 DEC that about 15% of initial benefits decisions on claims from veterans and survivors include errors, , while the backlog of claims has increa…

Imo- Nurse
I have 2 IMOS that the VARO has failed to read or consider. I was talking to my ex-husband- it is my birthday and he always calls me- He is a retired Nurse-he had quite a situation that I need to ask about in SSA forum here- The VA in their VACO review in 1997 said that (documented) the nurses notes were more comprehensive than the doctors entries - they sure did have a better comprehension of the veteran's disabilities. He suggested-if needed-he could give me an IMO with Rod's records. He came to my last two weddings -obviously he is still a close friend. I said well we should state that you are in fact my ex husband and the VA has a copy of our divorce pap…

ptsd Migraine Claim
THis is my first time to post... I currently and have suffered from severe migraine attacks since 99. I recently seperated and now going through the Compensation process. My question is, I suffer 2-4 Migraines a week... Everytime I had a "serious" migraine, I went to the Emergency room and properly documented all attacks. Is there anyone out there that can give me an Idea of what % the VA usually gives for "their" migraine claim. I also have a claim in for Alopecia, Psoriasis, Depression, Eye Surgery (PRK) and Sleep Disturbances... I'm about to submit for Hemroids, PTSD and an Ear problem... Just trying to get an idea from other personal experiences.

Question About Section D. Dic Nonserviced Connected Death Cases
Hi everyone, just wanted to know if this is right , 38USC 1318 [i.V.iiii.3.D. 18d] In order to establish entittlement to DIC under 38USC 1318 a surviving spouse must have been married to the veteran for at least one year immediately pereceding the veteran's death, or any period,if a child was born to them during or before the marriage. Never heard of this before, but does this mean if your spouse is 100 % service connected and P.T. but dies of non serviced connected condition you will still get DIC , or does the 10 year rule knock this out. I also was married to him 6 years after his discharge. Just trying to find out for myslef , for the future , we never know how lo…

Need Some Help With Pension Benefits
My husband's twin brother, a severe diabetic--NSC, had to have both legs amputated within the last four months and could not be fitted with a prosthetic device. He's a veteran, but misses the Vietnam wartime limits by about two weeks. He's getting VA medical care and pension pay already, but I'm wondering if benefits are available that we don't know about. Can anyone help? Carrie
