Chapter 35 retro pay for spouse?
My husband died due to service-connected disability and I fought the VA for over 6 years. He died in April of 2010 but my 9 year old son and I didn’t start receiving benefits until October of 2016. The effective day is April of 2010. I was in college when he died and did not complete my degree until 2016. I am now using the chapter 35 benefits to pay for graduate school. However, I got my bachelors degree after my husband died and was wondering if I’m entitled to any retroactive pay when it comes to educational benefits. I have accumulated some student debt from my bachelors degree. Any way I can at least get help paying for the debt?

Implantable Cardioverter-defibrillator (icd)
I have a implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) surgery date for Jun 10. Hopefully I have been reading the DC's correct. I think I'll be receiving a 100% disability rating? Am I correct? If so, do I have to go through C&P yearly? Any advise.......thanks everyone.

deferred as part of my claim decision
Hello, I noticed on e-benefits that a decision has been made on my current VA claim and a decision notification has been sent. However, some of the disabilities that I have not been rated yet and have the word "deferred" next to them. Can anyone explain to me what this means with regards to my claim? Note: My disability percentage increased from 30% to 80% so I know at least a partial decision has been made I am just curious about the other disabilities labeled "deferred". But hey, I guess deferred is better than denied. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Back pay from 2013 missing dependent information
I got married while I was active duty, my marriage was/is in my military records, I retired in 2013. I am still married, I am supposed to be receiving back pay on several VA disability claims back to 2013. But I according to the paperwork I got from the VA, this back pay will only be for me being single, not for being married. How can I get this changed to reflect I have been married all this time, and so my back pay reflects that I should be receiving back pay for having a dependent?

Constant or near constant use
I am in the process of a claim and one of my conditions could be 30% or 60%. I'm trying to figure out what the va considers "constant or near constant during the last 12 months, in the use of a medication. In my case I had been on the meds for 13 continuous weeks at the time I filed my claim. That just happened to be when the docs finally resorted to a more aggressive treatment. Thanks in advance vets.

Open a new claim after reopen denial
Hello everyone, I need some guidance from all of you. I had attempted to reopen a claim but the claim was denied because they didn't feel it was new and material evidence to substantiate the reopen. However, given that they didn't reopen it, can I initiate a new claim with the evidence? the reopen claim was for a different disability than the one I would be trying to claim now. I haven't seen any VA law preventing me from doing this unless I am missing something.

Injuries secodary to service connected conditions
I was diagnosed with and service connected for "traumatic brain disease" in 1985. That nomenclature has changed under diagnostic code 8045 several times. In 1990 I had an MVA (motor vehicle accident) and was hospitalized for two days at the West Los Angeles VA Medical and Research Center. A neurologist diagnosed me as having an "altered state of consciousness" as a cause of the accident and reported the same to the California DMV. I voluntarily turned in my drivers license not wanting to cause any more accidents. My contention is that it is a clear and unmistakable error that when I claimed a secondary entitlement to service connection of spinal disc disease whic…

When Should I Expect To Receive My Retroactive Pay
Hi. I just received an increased percentage rate from 40% to 70% w/ spouse 1 child, due to a CUE claim. I am owed retroactive pay from Sep 2011-present. My questions are: What is the average time to receive this back pay & approx how much should I be expecting or how do I figure it out? I received a deposit for $88 from DFAS the other day, & the deposit comment says: RETSPCL. I have no idea what that means & why I'm getting a deposit. I read somewhere that military pay has to do an audit before the VA releases back pay. Could that deposit be something the military owed me from whatever audit they're supposed to be doing? I just received my very first 70% month…
