This is where to post those questions. it's OK, if you are feeling confused this is not at all unusual it can be a very confusing system. If you were injured in service and have a question about whether you are entitled to file a claim, post it here. Law 38C.F.R.3.4 (a)

Full Knee Replacement
I have a question for anyone out there because the VA could not give me an answer nor the local VA Rep. So I had a knee injury while on active duty overseas in 2001 I had two operations which the VA gave me 20% I get 10% for loss of hearing because I was a Tanker in The Marine Corps for 22 years and 10% for high blood pressure and 0 % for (ED) which I was awarded 40% Now lets move ahead to 2016 which I had to have a full knee replacement in the same knee. I was awarded 30% for the knee replacement but since I had the knee replacement on the same knee I had the two surgerys which gave me 20% the VA decided to take the 20% away because I had the full knee replacement so ins…

New to the VA Hospital System
Hello, I am a veteran in Group 1: Veterans with service-connected disabilities rated 50 percent or more and/or Veterans determined by VA to be unemployable due to service-connected conditions. I am new to the VA Hospital System (60% disability rating) and would like to ask what I should expect when I sign up for with the VA as my healthcare provider? Will the VA be requiring anything specific from me, such as my DD-214, etc., in order to receive continuing care from an assigned physician ? I live in Seattle and will be applying at the VA Hospital located at 1660 S. Columbian Way, Seattle. Rob Grant, QM1 USCG (Ret.)

Retro Refund VA Home Loan Fee?
I bought a house with the VA Home Loan shortly before the VA awarded me 80% Service Connection. I just noticed that this fee is waved for Disabled Vets (https://www.benefits.va.gov/HOMELOANS/purchaseco_loan_fee.asp). Since my award was retro active for almost a decade and well past the time I purchased the house, can I get the 2.15% fee back? How do I go about getting that back? Sorry if this is the wrong spot to post this. Thank you, Stephens

Re-open or Start new claim?
Hello all, I was denied a claim in 2009 (9 years ago), the claim was for an eye disease (Retinitis Pigmentosa). I have met and read about other veterans with RP who have had their claims approved. Mine was denied based on evidence of symptoms while in service. My vision is progressively getting worse, I am now legally blind based on my peripheral vision. I have looked through my C-file and there is no documentation of a field vision test on entry or exit of the Air Force. I contacted a local lawyer who works with VA claims. I was told I should start a new claim because of the time period since denial. Is this even possible? I thought I would have to re-open my i…

OSA test from non-VA
Back in late 2014 or early 2015 I had sleep study conducted at the Tampa VA. Of course they came back saying I was fine and didn't have Obstructed Sleep Apnea. But my PCP sure sent me to the ENT clinic to allow them to do surgery by taking out my tonsiles and clipping my uvula (spelling). Of course I refused because something did not feel nor sound right. I would and still do wake up with shortness of breath, heart racing and in sweating from head to toe. So I decided to go outside of the VA and well, well, well they said I have severe OSA and my NON VA PCP said I NEEDED a CPAP. Well after about 6 months they had to come and pick up the CPAP because I could not…

Request Advice about 100% Total Unemployment and 100% Total Permanent Disabled
Hello, I have a question. I am 90% VA rated Disabled. I am finding it very hard to get to 100% T and P. I have heard there are vets who are both 100% Total Unemployment and 100% Total Permanent Disabled. Can I apply for 100% Total Unemployment and still be able to submit claims and be granted 100% Total Permanent Disabled? If a veteran is 100% Total Unemployment is it very hard to be granted 100% Total Permanent Disabled? Thank You in advance.

I do expect a benefits severance as my misdiagnosis was for presumptive ALS but I now know I don’t have it (which is amazing). My claim was at pending decision approval the other day now it’s back at GOE. I called the 800# and I was told I needed a 2nd signature for med records.Any idea what that means?

Home Purchase Loan
Hi All, Sorry if this is posted in wrong forum. Please remove and replace in right forum. I have a vet who wants to purchase a home loan to put a home in SC on vacant land that he and his wife own. Questions: 1. Would the VA allow him to do that or does he have to buy a home already built on other land. 2. Has anyone on forum ever purchase a home and placed it on the property that they own? If so what all did they have to do to get their VA loan? 3. Did they have to use their land as collateral? Thank You in advance for your replies to these questions.

Migraines severely
I am already at 100% T & P for another condition, but not migraines. My migraines are secondary to my SC condition. Should I still persue having migraines SC even though I’m at 100% now? Or is it just more agavation on me since I would not gain any more compensation if migraines were ruled SC? Thank you, S

ASSISTANCE ABOUT NAVY RESERVE ELIGIBILITY FOR HEALTH CARE/BENEFITS
There is a elderly Navy Veteran, retired civil service wondering if he (actually my father) is eligible for VA health care. I have tried to explain to him that since he was never called to Active Duty for war purposes (Vietnam War time period) and was only on reserve status doing his two weeks of duty a year that he DOES NOT qualify for VA health care. He is not service connected for anything. For some reason he has gotten it in his head he needs to be with the VA for health care and benefits. He is 74 and probably only has a couple months left to live due to complications from COPD. If I am wrong, can someone please point me in the direction as to where the information m…
