Entitlement - Veterans Compensation Benefits Claims
Once you know you are eligible for Veterans Disability Compensation, the question then becomes are you entitled to it by law. This is where to post those questions. it's OK, if you are feeling confused this is not at all unusual it can be a very confusing system. If you were injured in service and have a question about whether you are entitled to file a claim, post it here. Law 38C.F.R.3.4 (a)

ptsd How does a PTSD claim affect my current %?
After waiting months, the VA has scheduled me to visit QTC for my PTSD claim. I was wondering how it affects my current disability percentage of 70%. Does it change that % at all or will it just open doors to treatment. Either one sounds good. Thank You

No Nexus Letter for You!
I really don't like stirring the pot or razing a ruckus, but I this needs to be addressed at higher levels (VA Secretary, Congress, Senate...?) I am asking for folks input who should I notify of "our" issue? So, like many of you, I have gone through the service connected process. I have had some successes, but this is the one shining example of why the VA IS NOT in the business of helping/assisting Veterans. I have had a claim denied twice, and its currently awaiting placement of the docket at the board of appeals. There is ample medical evidence, buddy statements in support of my claim...but the single piece of evidence holding me back is "the nexus letter." I …

BBE
1st time post but been on here learning for a few years and want to say Thank You for all the info. Ok I received my BBE on March10,2016 from a NOD dated April 8 2005. I know eBenefits is at best very inaccurate. All of the ratings are SC. In 2005 I was rated 20%, 2008 went to 40%, 2009 went to 50%. My new award was 40% Hearing & 10% Tinnitus that brought me to 70%. Also on the award letter there is a cue that the VA made a error on not paying me retro from the NOD on the rating in 2008 back to 2005. My Question is like everyone else "Where Is The Money" I have not received my monthly check with the increase to 70% on it or my Retro that is quite a bit of money Wha…

Two separate diseases rated together
Hello everyone I'm a longtime lurker first time poster. I have two two diseases that the VA has combined for a rating of 10%/Crohn's Disease with mesenteric panniculitis. My question is I think these are separate contentions and should be rated separately am I correct in thinking that? They have some of the same symptoms but are definitely not the same. How should I go about getting this fixed if I am assuming correctly that they should be separate?

DRO hearing
I have a hearing coming up on Thursday for Bowel Incontinence. Yesterday my POA stated that the DRO wanted me to have another C&P exam for the Bowel Incontinence. Here is the thing Dr. Bash diagnosed this back in 2012. Again in 2013 and I've had 2-3 C&P exams since 2012 for the same things.. The VA, a PA and GI Surgeon both diagnosed the same exact thing in July 2013, Bowel Incontinence secondary to my Lumbar DDD/DJD. On the original decision the RO stated it was not diagnosed. This is wrong because they had in their hands Dr. Bash's IMO which showed the diagnosis then in 2013 whenever the VA Surgeon finally diagnosed it they still are denying me but the only…

Rating increase, still same compensation
So I had two C&P exams due to the VA wanting to re-examine (I did not initiate). My % went up. Effective date marked as the first C&app exam date. The whole thing was super fast. it's the first of the month. My benefit letter updated today to reflect the change (it has already been showing under disabilities). I got the notification package in the mail too - didn't include the DBQs and was a lot thinner than the one from my original claim from 5 years ago. However, the amount deposited into my account was the same as always. was not sure if that is normal or not.

ptsd Is it possible to back date disability pay to time of injury?
I deployed in 2007 to Iraq. Came home and served the remainder of my contract, ets'd, and began claiming disabilities staring with PTSD. I was awarded 50% in 2012. I was given back pay for the 6 or so months that it took from the time i filed the claim until the time they awarded me 50%. Recently, a friend that i served with filed for a TBI that he received during a 2011 deployment. He was awarded 80%. Instead of giving him back pay from the time he filed, he received back pay all the way back to the time of injury. Needless to say the amount was tens of thousands of dollars. Now my question is, is there some way i can have my original rating of 50% back payed f…

ptsd RETIRED? NOW I AM DISABLED?
This is a general question. One that has been fumbled around in my mind for some time, as I opinion this myself here. Do you think it is fair that retired military (with the exception of those who went through Physical Boards and Medically Retired, under 20 or 30 yrs.) should be able to also keep full retirement pay, plus VA Compensation? For me, this is what invokes this question, and quit literally nerves me and I think it has become an epidemic. Military service person (as example), goes on to complete full retirement and then all of the sudden near retirement has all sorts of medical problems (buddy system helps out, let's be honest here, wink, wink) and therefore rec…

ptsd Back Pay?
Hello, I received a non-official letter from the DAV on April 20th...for my PTSD claim awarding me 30%. My claim was dated back to 2011. The letter also stated I will receive the official letter from the VA. Also I received a call from the VA in Columbia, SC, the rep explained to me that they were trying to deposit my funds but needed to verify the correct bank account number and routing number since my file wasn't updated...she said the money would be deposited in 5 to 7 business days ..I gave her my info and that was the end of that, 5 to 7 business days has come and gone .I haven't received any funds nor the original VA letter.....what can be the hold up on the letter …

Raynaud's / Cold Injury Claim. Need Help
Good day all, I am service connected for Raynaud's with no established etiology. I have symptoms beyond those listed in the Raynaud's rating criteria. I put in for increased compensation based on my private doctor's exam. The VA then conducted their own exam based on the Cold Injury Residuals DBQ. Just received the decision and it came back with service connection for Chilblain's syndrome but no change in rating, stating that the evaluation criteria for Chilblains is so close to that of Raynaud's that it would be pyramiding to assign a separate rating. True enough. But it is quite obvious that my symptoms match the cold injury residuals much, much better than the…
