ptsd Vietnam Vet Discharge Upgrade - some success?
Hi Everyone, It has been a while since I have been active on the site. My husband is a Vietnam Veteran who has been 100% for PTSD since 1988. In 2014 we hired a lawyer to apply for a discharge upgrade from General Under Honorable Conditions to an Honorable with Medical Retirement. They flatout denied his initial claim in early 2015, citing that he willingly used a chapter 10 discharge and he had no recourse. Then the hagel memo came out, but it pertained specifically to veterans that may have had PTSD during service that received bad conduct discharges. Well through his lawyer we requested a reconsideration anyway in 2015. This week we received a letter from the ABCMR it…

HILL AFB said he will be discharged next year. My question is if he has sleep apnea why wouldnt they medically discharge him now? He was in alcohol rehab recently at the base and released from rehab. What kind of advice would you give him at this point ? Who could he contact ? shipbuilder gus…

Positive progression
I have been battling the VA for over 15 years. I have had numerous vet reps throughout that time and in the end I got rid of them all and took the time to do the research myself. Before finally sending my claim to the BVA, the DRO called me in mid July stating that they reviewed my claim and that 1 of the 5 issues I was contending was going to be granted for me. And they also told me that within that review they saw two other claims that I should have made. Which I found odd. She basically told me that I should look over my file. There are two conditions that are clearly related to my SC Disability and that were I to file for those they would be granted without …

Diagnosis change
So I have plenty of questions trying to get this straightened out. My original diagnosis from the VA was Dermititis (the decision letter says "minimal erythematous slightly scaly patches (claimed as skin condition)" Since being out of the military it has been officially biopsied and diagnosed as Psoriasis. I filed and claim and I am going in for a new C&P for increase. Should or will they adjust these conditions on my claim. They both have the same rating criteria. However I want to file for a secondary condition of Psoriatic arthritis eventually. Is this going to be a problem with previous compensation and the increase. My current medical records don't refle…
