5,10,20 year rule about to 60 year olds
I got hurt in service and did not apply for VA benefits until 30 years later, and I did succeed in getting compensation. As I read for this site about 5,10, 20 year rule. Does that rule still apply to individuals who won there case even when they are in late 50's and 60's ? Thank You Ken

QTC C&P EXAM AFTERMATH
Hello all, Have a question maybe some can help. So it has been now about 2 months since I have had my C&P exam that was set up through QTC. Called a few times to check on status just to see if they had received results from the exam as from what I understand the C&P exam is sent back to them for review and then forwarded to VARO. However, as stated it has been now 2 months and the Dr that performed my C&P exam has yet to send to QTC! Is this a normal time, should I or would it be worth me going back up there myself to check? I understand it can take 3 to 4 months or more in some cases for VA to rate once they receive all evidence but for the doctor t…

Routine Future Examinations (RFE) - Compensation and Pension Exam.
Hello everyone, I have not been able to find much information on routine future examinations (RFE). I did not apply for an increase or any new claims. I have a RFE scheduled for bilateral knee instability a little after 5 years of service connection. My understanding is that this is supposed to be an evaluation of the current severity of symptoms and if the disability continues to be a problem and to what extent. I asked the person on the phone making the appointment and she said to be prepared to discuss my event in service and why I think it is service connected. I don't understand why veterans would have to discuss the event in service again and why they think it …

BVA DECISION MADE
My Attorney was successful in getting a BVA grant. It had been remanded back from the Veteran's Court. A CUE reversal. I'm over the moon, but don't know what to expect next. I also had a successful C&P exam for Hypothyroidism. (The newly added disease to the list of Presumptive conditions related to AO.) The Schedule of Ratings calls for a minimum of 30% there. I had asked the BVA for 100% from my present 60% for the tongue cancer, because anything less will not get me needed crucial dental work. I am hoping the combined rating will get me there. Do I now just wait for a RO rating decision? Anybody know how long the wait is? When I was Service Connected for PTSD, it s…

iu p&t I’m 70% And Temp 100% IU, Should I Fight to be Rated 100%?
I’ll try to keep this as short as possible. About a year and a half ago I was awarded 70% total disabled rating for hearing loss, flexibility of wrist, and PTSD. They gave me IU bc my PTSD prevents me from being employed. I was also awarded Social Security after a long fight. Things have changed since then. I’ve been educating myself on how these things work and unfortunately I have found some new things out recently. My Dr. and I have talked and I have to go to the TBI clinic in my state and be evaluated. I had some minor head trauma recently and someone told me about TBI’s bc I displayed some of the symptoms after. Well not just some, over the years I’ve displayed like …

Bad Rating issue
I filed a claim. Did a session with a private psychologist and was diagnosed with ptsd. Went to a c and p exam and the examiner did not accurately reflect all of my symptoms. Was given a low rating. Went back to the private psychologist who reviewed my c and p exam paperwork and concluded that one part was inconsistent with another part. He said that VSO scheduled another c and p exam. Just did that one. The va is calling it a request for increase rather than a dispute of the original claim. Below is the letter from the private psychologist after reviewing my case decision my question .... they already sent me back pay to the date of my claim but at a much low…

How to challenge a C&P exam
Hi Everyone, On January 7, VA contractor, VES, did my C&P exam . After nearly pulling teeth trying to get a copy of the exam from the VA, I finally got it a few days ago. Although the doctor found that I have the condition and found that it was caused by military service, she was way off with her box checks for my symptoms--missing or ignoring several of my symptoms. Also, her assessment of my symptoms conflicted with my privately provided DBQ. It's frustrating because I answered the questions the same way with both doctors. Can I challenge/dispute the VES contractor's C&P findings? If so, where can I find the rules for how to do this? And how …

C&P exam resulted in decreased rating
5 years ago I was rated at 60% for service connected disability, I was also given IU. Not long after that the VA gave me 2 total hip replacements. Last month I was called in for a C&P exam for my right hip that was rated at 20% before the surgery. I just got the results from the C&P exam and they reduced the rating on my right hip from 20% to 0%. That will result in my overall rating to go from 60% down to 40% and I will lose my IU. As per the rating rules, the minimum rating for a total hip replacement is 30% if it goes perfectly. Does this make any sense to anyone or is it an obvious mistake on their part?

Hip exam stack question?
I was wondering if anyone know if I get 10% for all three hip codes, 5251, 5252, and 5253. Does that mean I get a rating of 30% for my hip? or does it mean I get 3 separate ratings of 10% each. It makes a difference looking at the VA Math table.

Left shoulder secondary to right hand wrist shoulder
Hello, I filed for a compensation exam for my left shoulder secondary to my right service connections (right finger amputation of 1st and 2nd fingers, ankylososis of remaining 2 fingers- 70% for loss of use. Right wrist sprain 10%, right shoulder strain 20%, scars and osteo stumps 10%, and ptsd 50%. I had the amputation from a mortar when I was 19 years old, so my whole adult life I have been over compensation with my left arm and it is finally catching up to me. How do I explain this for my dbq examiner? Or does anyone have a similar condition? Thank you!

Followup C&P Exam Notification
Hi, I received a phone call (voicemail) asking about scheduling a C&P exam and also a letter saying that a request was filed "on my behalf." From what I understand, don't they send you an appointment date and time in a letter if it's for a followup C&P exam? I'm currently 100% total, but not permanent, however I haven't received a request for a C&P exam in over a decade. Is this normal? I'm absolutely terrified of anything VA related let alone C&P examinations so I'm hesitant to just "schedule one and see what happens" if I don't have to. Would it seem odd if I asked the scheduler if this was due to an unfinished claim that they just go…
