Need Tbi Help And Understanding Of How They Go About Telling I You Have It
Im service connection/Rated Disabilities and Im trying to get some help with whats going on im not really sure where im at and whats next for me to do or what i need. As of right now im i have not be told yes or no on if i have TBI but im in the same classes that other guys with TBI are in. One of my classes is Pain and Poly Trauma Program and the other is a Speech and Memory class. I have already been to my PCD and had a POSITIVE SCREEN FOR TBI and then from there to TBI Screening Consultant and she said "Veteran exhibits a combination of symptoms that could be associated with concussion/mTBI in conjunction with symptoms of behavioral health conditions such as anxiety…

ptsd Sending Hubby For Tbi Testing
Hello, I haven't been on the Hadit site in quite a while because we've been playing the waiting game. My husband sent in a claim for an Increase for PTSD after our neighbor was shot and killed in May of 2010. He finally called the VARO today and was told they are sending him for TBI testing and another test on his hearing. (He already received hearing aids about a year ago, but no compensation) Since he did NOT apply for TBI, does this mean they are FINALLY actually looking at his records and the fact that he was shot down 3 times? He is a Viet Nam Veteran and was in Special Forces. He's never been compensated for his wounds. He has shrapnel in his bones, but th…

Neuropsych Testing
Okay...had a consult at VAMC for mild TBI that occured several decades ago in-service (and well documented in records). (Psychologist thinks my other symptoms indicate mildTBI---the match up is uncanny) Anyway, neurologist decides I don't have residuals, but hedges his bet by saying "probably don't", then orders EEG, MRI, labs and a revisit in 6 months to give MRI lab time to schedule the exam. The exam I got lasted about 2 hours but didn't include any "psych" that I could see. Did I miss something? meanwhile, VARO denied TBI residuals without C&P, basing their decision on VA Doctor's clinical notes. Thanks in advance! Chuck

ptsd Going For A Tbi Screening
Hello once again all of my Hadit.com friends! I just have a couple of questions that I was curious about. If you have seen my earlier posts, I was found 100% P&T for PTSD last year. I have begun to notice that I have many of the signs and symptoms for TBI. When I first started going to the VA clinic in 2008, I saw a doctor about being screened for TBI, and I believe they said I wasn't positive. They did however enroll me in speech therapy, in which I went to a few sessions, but due to the distance it is to drive for every appointment, and no compensation for the mileage, I couldn't afford to go. I was still in the service at this time and did not want to get discharge…

New Fast Letter Smc At (T) Rate For Residuals Of Tbi
Thanks to Berta posting in the New OEF/OIF Forum, Fast Letter 11-35 surfaced. I have copied and will eventually post in the Training Letter Forum when TBird and I get together. In the meantime, the letter can be found in the new forum. I thought it should also be posted in here since it concerns TBI. FL 11-35 Special Monthly Compensation (SMC) at the New (T) Rate for Residuals of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) (December 5, 2011) Again, thanks Berta. Let me know if you find any others I don't have posted. fanaticbooks.

Is Tbi Compensation Permanent?
I am wondering how you can get a TBI compensation considered permanent? The decision letters I have received state that TBI can not get worse. Medical research to include the VA have determined that TBI can not get better. Yet the VA decision letter states that this condition is up for further evaluation. Is there a way to change this status? Proving income for things such home purchase and other situations is difficult when trying to add your VA compensation to your total annual gross income.

Va Grabbing At Straws Again
I had a TBI rating low balled with a pretty desperate excuse. I am currently service connected at 40% TBI. I had a civilian neuropsychological exam that showed extensive problems that would have meet the 70 if not 100% rating. Many references to "severe" deficits. The evidence is solid and I believe even the VA agrees to this. Now this is where they(VA) began look for a way out. Based off the RO decision date as a base line, the decision stated that my private exam was conducted 10 months prior to the decision and the VA exam was conducted 4 months prior to the rating decision and that VA need to use the most current exam available. The VA exam was the C&P ex…

ptsd Dh To Have Neuropsych Test For Tbi
My DH finally got seen by a VA psychiatrist who seems to really give a bean about what happens and is happening to him. He had his first consult with her a couple of weeks ago now, and she spent over 2 hours talking to him. She told him he had PTSD, no doubt in her mind, and she also thought he might have TBI because his trauma involved a head injury in addition to severe burns. She said she would refer him for a neuropsych evaluation. Last week, DH asked his VA therapist and was told that the new psychiatrist had dx'd him with PTSD with Social Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder & OCD. (whew, my poor baby). He was relieved, because he was worried that …

Ets Physical
1. For every member of the military ETSing or retiring. You will be given a final out physical. At that physical tell them about every ache, pain, concern, etc. This is the last chance for the military member to officially document medical problems, thereby making the issue in-service! Tell them about rashes, hair loss, scratches, scrapes, itchy ass cheeks…EVERYTHING!...LAST CHANCE! OK, I have many problems associated with the gulf war that I did not go on sick call for, but they are all mentioned in my ETS physical. Are you saying that even if I didn't go on sick call for something I can use my ETS physical as evidence for a claim?

ptsd Scrambled Brains
After going thru what I would describe as a very long bad dream I decided to file a claim for TBI. It took nearly 15 years to realize what was wrong, another 5 or 10 believing that it would go away, and obviously it hasn't. I started seeing a VA shrink in the early 90's and have been doing so off and on since for all the symptoms that go with a TBI (anx.,depres.,mood dis., social dis.,) and anything else that goes with it. Meds have been increasing the whole time and are maxed out doses now. At least I hope so, any more and I would be a zombie! After going thru the C&P exams, Neuro and Physc, both were positive for TBI w/ facial nerve damage and Ptsd from the TBI (h…

New Exam
I called the VA last night to check the status of my claim. The rep that I talked to told me that they could see notes which says "you have an exam at the RO and this claim will be ready for the dcecision board after that". The RO is in Bay Pines Florida. I normally go to Gainesville for my C & P's...I wondering why I would need to go to Bay Pines now???
