Ao & Dm@ Ref Extract
The attached extract from the VBA/DOD DM Treatment Guide documents a medical fact often ignored in decisions denying service connection for conditions caused or aggravated by DM2. Many of these conditions commonly occur as first symptoms of a case of DM2, well before a "formal DM2 diagnosis is made. extract_critical.txt

ptsd Prostatectomy But Still Need Radiation
Thanks to HADIT for being here for us. I served in Viet Nam in 1968 and developed aggressive prostate cancer in '08. I filed February of '08 and the prostate was removed in early March '08. After reading HADIT, I also filed for PTSD in August of '08, so as I have learned, that slowed down my claim. Also my original state Vet Rep retired and I had to get a new one, which has also has delayed my claim. I wish I had known about HADIT before I filed; I could have saved myself a lot of grief. I had my C&P for prostate March 25 '09, no result yet (I know the delays are my fault for not knowing the system - just had the C&P for PTSD so I know the VARO in NY d…

I understand there is an agent orange registry. How does one go about getting on this registry and getting the examinations associated with it. I can find lots of data, but not info on how to "sign up for this". If there is a registry?? Thanks

Hr 2254
I received a press release stating Mr Filner (D-CA) has reintroduced the HR 2254 bill. It is dated May 8, 2009. Is this true? Is there a chance this might go through this year?

Proving Vietnam Service
My husband, Allan Kofoid, served with the 552nd Electronic Maint. Group out of McClelland AFB, CA when he was sent TDY to Taiwan and then rotated back and forth to Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Vietnam. There is nothing in the personnel or medical record from the Air Force indicating he was sent to Vietnam, therefore he is being denied disability benefits for prostate cancer. The pay records are "missing"; the IRS doesn't have tax records for 1966; morning reports, unit or duty rosters; flight manifest or repair records for the Connie's he worked on; follow on reports or unit assignments; 552nd Command Chronology Records; and probably a few more have been requested and I'v…

A.o.(dioxin) Contamination At Treasure Island
Many of the Navy enlisted sailors destined for service in the far east and Vietnam were routed via the Treasure Island Navy Base for outfitting, training, and overseas duty assignments. Virtually all "junior" enlisted were sent to the fire fighting school. On return from Vietnam and the far east, many of the same sailors out processed at Treasure Island, and, again, were assigned quarters in the same asbestos contaminated WWII vintage buildings. Increased Rating With Larynx Cancer
Hello, I'm new to this site, so I hope someone can give me some insight into my situation. I have been rated 50% disabled in the 90's for back problems asociated with a service connected disability (Disc surgery performed at U.S.A.F. hospital). I now have recently had surgery for Larynx cancer and will be meeting with my local V.A R.O. in early June. I read that this cancer is commonly rated at 100% initially and then (possibly) reduced as treatment results are clearified. Is this so? If I have an initial rating of 100% for the Larynx cancer what does that do to my prior 50% rating ..and I guess I would like to know if that then equalls 150% or some adjusted % what happen…

hypertension Ao And Diabetes Type Ii
I left Vietnam and the Army in 1969. At that time (actually about a year later) I was awarded 40 % disability related to several injuries and/or conditions related to my Vietnam service. over several years it was reduced to 20 %, I think because of changes in the rating system as I was never re-examined. In 2005, I applied for revaluation for additional compensation as one of the original conditions had worsened and also added diabetes type 2 with several complications from that diabetes. Over some time and ratings increases, the rating went to 70 percent in 2006. Since 2006, I have had other complications from type II diabetes, including surgeries due infection…

New Agent Orange Claim Reply Needed Letter
Just received reply needed letter In the mail April 18th. I have claimed respiratory problems since I have lost 35% lung function. Prostrate problems since I get up 5 to 7 times nightly and Avodart has been taken for 6 months with no help but PSA is still negative. Also a 40 % hearing loss in both ears. Also have tinitus in both ears constantly. My letter was addressed to my first name and my wifes last name. Checked my paperwork just to be sure and the only place my wifes name is listed is as a dependant. How they came up with that is beyond me. They are asking for VA Form 21-4142 for each doctor that I went to for each problem. I filled out all of those for doc…

Agent Orange
I have a friend who is a vietnam vet. who has some complications from exposure to agent orange. The skin on his arms is black and he says its been that way for several years. I never did notice this as he always wore long sleeve shirts even in summer. He says his personal Dr.'s say it was caused by exposure to Agent Orange but the VA dosen't agree so a hearing is forth coming. Does anyone have any knowledge about this or could this be something new we have to worry about? I have studied this and can't find anything to support Agent Orange as the cause. Could it be caused by something else?
