I received a letter from the d.v.a. today with regards to my wife and a&a. Man, I can not believe what they are asking for. I had a doc fill out the required form which covered her complete condition. But this is not enough.. They are making it hard, asking for medical evidence of all kinds, such as the following: treatment records from, doctors, hospitals, laboratories, medical facilities, mental health clinics, x-rays, physical therapy records, surgical reports, etc. These should include the dates of treatment, finding, and diagnoses.. They want this within 30 days. I can authorize them to get the records, I will still have to give them the names, dates and pla…

I applied for a&a using the state va office rep to help me. He had told me I would get 14,000 a year for my wife. He send me the forms for the doc to fill out which he did. I hand carried them to the va rep who then tell me that the monthly benefit would be only 127.00 a month. So I asked what the risk was of my case being reopened which he in turn told me since it was my spouse he did not think they would look at my records. I called him again today, he lied to me and said he has tried to call numerous times and my line was always busy, (I have call waiting and voice mail) so I do not think I can trust him. When I spoke to him today I asked him to call the …

I am in the process of applying for a&a for my spouse. I am 100% t&p and have been over ten years. I was reading a post you had on hadit and I feel you know much about a&a, so if you do not mind, i have a few a questions for you. I am 70 years old, my spouse is 69. She has had a terrible stroke, can not walk, can not bathe her self, can not cook, can not drive, has fallen and broken numerous bones, has had two heart bypasses, terrible balance problem. Do you feel I have a change to get a&a for her? Do you feel it would open up a keg of worms and the va would reopen my case? I could not make it without my benefits. Also, I can not seem to find out…

I just got decline on a widow pension because my husband did not fight even for one day in the Vietnam WAR. He only serve in the Army for 2 years and 5 months and have a dishonorable discharge as his mother is sick and nobody will take care of her so he leave the army. A Vietnam officer at the department of Veterans Affairs told me that he is entitled for a pension when I am asking for help. So what I did is I apply but was denied because of this: You served at least 90 days of active military service 1 day of which was during a war time period. and the wartime period were: Vietnam era. The period beginning on February 28, 1961, and ending on May 7, 197…

If you are member of the Guard or Reserve and you are medically retired for a service-connected disability, will you receive your retirement pay on the effective date of your retirement? Or do you have to wait until age 60?

I retired from active following Desert Storm with 21 years of active duty, and was approved for VA disability (90%)on 1 Feb 2006. However, my first check did not arrive until 1 April 2007. Am I eligible to received all monies accrued between the original award date (1 Feb 06), and the date (1 Apr 07) that I finally started to receiving my VA disability check? I am specifically wondering if the fact that I was already drawing my military pension will preclude me from drawing the money that was withheld.
