  1. Thank you all for the info... i am not housebound and was only wondering if getting a 100% without the IU was a good idea... i really dont want to file and clog up the system anymore it was just the doctor at the VA suggested the sleep study so i thought maybe i could replace the IU and the ear thing like pete says its more of a pain in the A?? then anything else .. I just did not want to get to 65 and have them take the IU and leave me with the 70% and starting over on the fight... I will hold tight for now to save space for another vet.. again thanks everyone.. and pete still looking into moving to SC just waiting for the kids to finish school ( college and then i hope they take flight and stretch them wings.. ))
  2. the way it worked for me was i went to a CP and got a GAF of 50 and was given 10% and after that i started to receive treatment.. meds and weekly sessions.. i appealed and received 30% this took from 1999 to 2001 then i put in for an increase and using the notes from my semi weekly treatment at the VA i was given a 70% then in 2004 i just couldnt deal anymore with things and was let go ... i applied for IU and in 2004 i received it.. then i asked for PT well that took almost one year and i had still notes from the VA and PT was granted ... i still see the doctor 2 to 3 times a month and will most likley always see the doc.. when i am there i can let go of what bothers me and my thinking and its like giving up the thoughts and then i can go another few weeks and it builds up again and i let it go again..
  3. I presently have PTSD 70% IU and PT and i have had this for about 5 years i still go to the doctor every 2 weeks..(over 7 years now ) my meds keep getting higher and higher started out with 300mg of serquol and 100 Zoloft and now i take 700 serquol and 100mg Zoloft, If there was a rating of PTSD 80% i think i could get it but i am not 100% PTSD over the years it was suggested i look into Sleep disorder and do one of those sleep test and get my hearing checked as the doctor says she can tell i have a difficult time hearing her unless she speaks load and direct.. with all this talk of IU possible stoping at 65 should i persue a higher rating and try to get 100% without IU , As a door gunner on a uh1 during nam i have terriable hearing , and tingling in one side sometimes.. as to the sleep disorder , well when i first got my IU and PT i was so burned out on dealing with the VA i just stoped the fighting but now with IU going away maybe should i persue a higher rating to be safe..??
  4. i wonder why they skip 80 and 90% seems very few if any fall into 100 and by not allowing a 100% solid the vet needs IU and now they seems to be attacking the IU .... leaving themselves a way to screw the vet with PTSD as this alone he can never get 100% without IU and therefore a whole class of disabilitys would not get chapter 35 ... free insurance i think if you read 70$ this should be 100% rate
  5. what i see with this bill is he is offering a little money to the young guys and taking a lot more aways for the old guys... trying to pit the young vets against the old vets... sure more money for the combat vets and to pay for it take away the money from the older vets... how many guys are 65 already? Or maybe its just to confuse the public make he look like a hero helping the young vets but slipping in a poison pill for the old vets..
  6. isnt SSD an insurance plan if you dont pay you dont get? If they did that then we should get all of our money back we paid into the plan. SSD to me is an insurance like auto insurance and should have nothing to do with the VA ..
  7. no only will this result in lots of homeless old vets ... but the family will i am sure be cheated out of DIC if the vet turns 65 before the 10 years ... what a country the rich get richer and the poor just get to suffer...
  8. Hey pete here in the Philippines i met a guy who just had a lap band august 2 and he paid less then 8,000 total .... the same doctor who has done over 15 of these operations says even the by pass one is under 10,000 ..my friend says he has shed 35 lbs so far....
  9. the VA will never do that and rightfully so because where to draw the line i know a guy who self medicated for many years he used drugs to make his nightmares go away and was finally caught and went to jail so does he deserve benefits ? His crime was a felony ? Child molesters should be keep off the streets forever or till they find out why and how to stop them...
  10. i have been doing some research on the same thing and found SC is a great place... Especially close to columbia and the military post... PX ,,, cheap movies... good state bennies... good housing prices... i am looking at an area called Lugoff SC ... a good place to find info is a web site called City-data click on there....i presently live in the Philippines... its so so ....
  11. its a shame they sell you this must take insurance with the bull that its for your own good .when you apply for this INSURANCE YOU PAID FOR they act and moan and groan like your nothing but a lazy scammer trying to take food from some starving childrens mouth.. They seem to forget 1 they MADE YOU TAKE IT AND PAY FOR IT . 2. Its not a grant or a benefit its an insurance policy . Just more goverment double talk .. Forked toung , .... Funny they have billions and billions for weapons but so sorry nothing for you ...
  12. i was ((( awarded ))) ha ha ha my SSD insurance paid into by me for over 38 years last Sept 2006,, i received my check Feb. 2007 and i am still to this day waiting for them to pay the childrens part ... according to them they are still working on it... i said working on what??? the claim is done almost a year ago so what are you working on???? Still waiting for an ans. to that and still nothing... AT the same time IRS sends me a letter saying ... Sir we refigured your 2004 tax and found you owe us 35,000 thousand dollars if you agree with us and our findings please sign the enclosed form and mail it to us and we can arrange payment plan to suit your needs.. you have (((((( 15 days ))))) to mail us your responce or we will ((( assum you agree with us )))) 15 days to compile info years old but they take over a year to follow a AJ desision ... seem fair ?
  13. I want to thank all for taking the time to give me a reply ,, well with getting the April check in the late part of may i see its just another stall the great US does so almost everyone who first waited 5 months of dead time can experience another month of them owing us ... I am still after 10 months now waiting to here about the children.... Just last week i get a letter from good old IRS saying ... We think you owe us money and this is why and how we came to this statement you have 15 days to respond or sign the installment agreement and start paying ... if you dont respond within 15 days we will assum you agree with us ... so if you owe them you get 15 days.. and if the US owes you they get years and years to pay ... sometimes i wish i was a foreigne country so i could get millions in free aid..
  14. I found to win mine i needed and got 2 IMO the VA stuff helped but SSD and VA march to different dummers.. The SSD guy who i never meet tried to tell the judge i should not get SSD because i proved i could work by my own actions... 1st i used the internet to look up my meds and their side effects all by myself , and i took a plane trip again by myself to visit my kids.. so i could find work , simple work but still work... on my side i had my PT status and 2 cp from VA and 2 IMO also both stating i could not do any real work for longer then 4 hours a day and i won only because to win you need to show you can not work full time ... i think the deck is way stacked against winning the SS people suggested i get a job as a greeter at some dept store so i can get fresh air etc.. gee do they pay greeters that well so they can support a family?
  15. Finally got my SSD stuff almost in order .. this last may my Direct deposit finally went in... ON May 16, they deposit a check , i am thinking its for the month of may but SSD says they THINK the May deposit was my missing april check so after the month is over you still wait 2 to 3 weeks more to get paid for the last month? Is this how it works.. april check paid in middle of may and so on ? Having been awarded SSD almost 9 months ago i am still waiting for my childrens to arrive... they keep saying we are working on it...
  16. so was i turned down with 70% IU PT i think you just have to drown them with paper work and still they will stall you as long as they can... Funny they never tell you that bull when they sell you insurance... and SSD is a insurance and if they could find a way to beat you out of it they think of that as a win for them
  17. no matter what rating they give you PT included they can and will call you in for another CP without warning anytime they want..
  18. i agree ,,,, when i turned mine in i had Two VA doctors reports and one IMO and still waited 2 plus years for hearing and during that time i turned in 2 more IMO and my award letter said it was a close call but i was granted .. the SS rater wanted to veto award based on two things i admited to ... one i researched the affects of my VA meds on a computer and second i went to visit my sister and to do that i took a plane all by myself ... so these two things make me able to hold a steady job such as phone sales or ticket taker
  19. As for the SSA ha ha ... i was granted sept of 2006 and in oct of 2006 put in a change of address, again in Dec. of 2006, again in jan 2007 and again in March of 2007 and again in april 2007 and still they have not done my direct deposit or change of address as of may 2007 . They sent my check to an apartment i rented in 2004 when i filed even though i have many many change of address forms filled out and sent in...
  20. I think what triggered my CP even though i am 70 IU PT from 2002 and over 55 is when i came to the Philippines i wanted to be seen by a doctor for service connected PTSD and they gave me a real clown and the reason they gave me a clown is they the VA were only willing to pay 10$ a visit even though the going rate is $20 per hour so i started seeing a doctor on my own twice a month...The VA waited 7 months and then hit with the CP i am sure they were thinking ... ha ha ha he stoped going to the doctor must be cured now... Well i turned in my report from my IMO and so there was no problem with my rate but i still see the doctor IMO and expect the VA every year to try to catch me as they think self cured
  21. i have PT and they still can and will call you in for an exam ... the letter claims its their duty to check on your status from time to time. and if they find your not as bad as you used to be they can and will lower your rating, So PT could mean dont relax the VA is still in the backround ready to step on your neck
  22. now i am 70% IU an PT and the PT is back dated to 2000 and i am also 55 years old. but i was sent a letter to be re-examed and i think the reason was, i stoped seeing the doctor at the VA when i came to the Philippines and started seeing one IMO because the VA doesnt pay for a real professional i took it upon myself to see my own doctor .. well the VA must of been thinking ha ha we caught this slacker time to cut him off.... but the ha ha was on them when i submited my IMO doctors report and it wound up being a doctor the VA used for CP exams. So just because you become PT you still need to see the doctor just as often as you did to get PT in the first place..
  23. If you guys remember a while back i told everyone about the letter i got from the VA here in Manila telling me to show up for a CP or else and i am 70% IU PT and over 55 years old and have been PT from 2000... seems the VA thinks Vets come here to live the good life ,,, This place is always trying to take away your bennies... My son goes to school under Chapter 35 and they only pay 1/2 because they can ... I guess it never occured to the VA the reason a guy might live here is maybe because he is married to a women from here...My family came from Italy my wife from the Philippines but the va thinks the second you leave the US your like a traitor or something. I might of been born in the US but that does not mean i have to stay there for ever i should be able to live where ever i want..
  24. a little off topic but when the vet is trying to get this stuff thru the slow VA system he suffers.. but last week i get a notice from IRS saying they are missing some papers from 2004 but will give me 15 days to comply and if they dont see anything in 15 days they will deceided how much i own them without my imput... And another thing if you own them money there are large fee's and interest to pay when they owe you ha ha ha .. very one way .. on topic i only waited 2 months for IU its pretty much a yes or no and the doctors word has a lot to do with the ans.
